HypeSins: The Don'ts of The Hype

No offense but I think that's one of the dumbest rules on the hype. I seen many posters use curse words in posts ( even though they are censored) and no mod comes after them for it. Most of the posters here are in their 20's and onward (even if they don't always act like it) and we all have heard curse words before in our life. So I don't get why people get infractions for posting links to videos with with strong language even if they give a warning or label it NSFW.

To add to what ComicChick responded to....

If you see people use curse words that are not allowed on the hype (and you obviously know they are not allowed on the Hype)....and you do not report them to the staff....do not later complain that the staff is not doing their job. We can not do something about something if we do not know about it. We do not get an automatic report from the site when someone types a curse word or posts a video or link to uncensored cursing, We (the staff) have to see it ourselves or have someone report it to us for us to do something about it. We do not have magical powers....we do not immediately "sense" when someone does something wrong.

Just because MANY posters are over 20 years old...it DOES NOT MEAN ALL POSTERS ARE OVER 20 YEARS OLD. This is a family site that all ages come to. If you walk into Walmart, many people there are over 20 years old...so do you walk down the aisle shouting obscenities? I would hope that you don't...I would hope that you show respect for the people around you too young to have to listen to it or for the people older who just don't want to hear it shouted out while they are in Walmart. When something is written or posted in the forums on here...it is not whispered to the person next to you, it is not a text message that only the person you sent it to can read, it is not a PM that only the person you sent it to can read....something posted in the open forums is there for anyone and all to read.

And lastly....at a site where young people come to....do you really think posting NSFW or CAUTION: DO NOT READ THIS IF YOUNG BECAUSE IT HAS CURSING IN IT will stop a kid from opening it or watching it? It will make them run to it as quick as they can. And if while they are reading the uncensored cursing or watching the video with nudity and uncensored cursing...their parents come in and catch them....they can block our site, or post comments on websites, for parents to pass such info around, that those other parents needs to block our site or demand it's closing because we let kids have access to material they shouldn't.

Don't lose your basic humanity over how adequately the batcowl allows for neck-turning.

Don't jump on board the Whedon-Marvel split conspiracy theory bandwagon.

Doesn't that make the rule meaningless? Trying to protect kids from something they actively seek out and use anyway in day to day life? I mean, these kids are on the internet for God's sake. If they're not getting their curse words or nudity from here, they're getting it from the next site, their friends or their parents.

Note: I don't think there should be rampant nudity on this site, because that could get people in trouble. There's a reason it's called not safe for work.

I seriously doubt there would be a "parents against SHH" campaign if uncensored cursing was allowed. They would have to campaign against 99.5% of the internet.

I know you guys don't come up with these rules, but there's this weird double standard where the forums are PG but red band trailers are allowed on the main page of the site. A kid watches the Deadpool red band trailer on the main page (which contains violence, sex and cursing), registers on the forums, ventures into the Deadpool section and suddenly finds out that they're not allowed to link to the trailer. In what world does that make sense?

For the record, I don't really care about the "bleeping" because ironically enough I think it makes cursing more powerful. Plus, we all know what's under the asterisks anyway. I just think we should be allowed to link to articles and videos with profanity. With a warning, without a warning, whatever.

ooh ive got one!

Don't forget to maintain your hype levels in a thread when something major drops (comic con, trailers etc.) or things could get really, really, bad

Dispense with pleasantries such as greetings & farewells. :o

Aww...

i was gonna jump for joy and pop some champagne while lighting some fireworks on display once i get to my 1000th post :p

the forums are PG
censors block curse words when you type them here.
just because you label something doesn't mean it gets a pass when it's not allowed here

and fwiw, you wouldn't know if a mod "came after someone" unless the mod did it publicly, or the member brings it up. there are many here who can attest to the fact that i've edited posts and/or messaged them privately about stuff they've posted that isn't allowed. i tend not to infract unless its done repeatedly, ignoring warnings

Meh I don't curse but I still don't think people should get infractions for linking videos ( some of which are funny) as long as it comes with a warning or label. But it is what it is.

Some of the stuff people talk about ( or allude to) in certain threads, real world issues and such reference "mature" stuff that definitely isn't PG, but allowed to stand. Like I said, I personally don't use foul language but this is the internet not a public restaurant or establishment. But I sorta get what your saying.

don't bump a thread unless you're actually going to contribute to it...

Always ask forgiveness for a sin.

And don't be an elitist. Elitism is wrong.

Never pick a fight with a mod.

Don't listen to Devin Faraci.

If you want to use Black Narcissus' lingo, you must either pay him copyright or post a fair use disclaimer on your post.

Don't go on the Fantastic Four boards.

Don't start any fan wars between Marvel and DC, were all comic book fans here :)

This is a site where we talk about people who run around in tight clothes and beat each other and it's not an adult site despite that. Kids will come here so we should behave.

Besides, the owner wants it to be PG so we obey or get out.

Adult geek's behaving?
B***h Please
Where is this alternate universe you speak of?

1. Don't double post
2. Don't be a hypocrite
3. That's ironic
