Hypothetical Crossovers: Film Continuities that would be cool in a shared universe.

PREDATOR + FRIDAY THE 13th

The continuing cycle of the resurrection of Jason Vorhees and the violence that follows in the awakening of his corpse draws the attention of the alien predator.

What about a smarter than average Xenomorph crossed with the explanation of Jason having regenerative abilities from Jason X, that would use him as the sole incubator for her spawn. The chestbursters might even pick up some abilities from the host. And then of course, vs. Predator.

That sounds like the synopsis to a 90s comic book story.

Some years ago, i had the idea for an Indiana Jones/Lara Croft trilogy.

> The first movie would have a young Lara meet an old Dr. Jones. He would recognize her, but she wouldn't.
For some reason (don't remember what i came up with back then), the present day Lara Croft would be sent back in time, to the WWII era, where she would meet Indiana Jones.
At the end of the movie, Lara would be stuck in 1938, and Indy stuck in the present.

> The second movie would have Lara and Indy, in the eras they were left in, trying to find the same artifact.
At the end of the movie, Lara and Indy would both be in the present.

> The last movie would have Lara and Indy fight in the present, and Indy going back. At the end of the movie, Lara would go visit Indy's grave. Before that, we see the young Lara meeting the old Dr. Jones. He would recognize her....she would recognize him also.

As you see, i don't remember much of my ideas anymore. I would need to rewrite this.
I do remember that the first movie would be set during the war, the last set in the present and the middle one, they would swap eras. Lara would be very Indy like, and Indy would be a little bit on the conspiracy theory side.

A pulp cinematic universe would be awesome. I'd throw the Phantom in there too.

I wish they would do one with a round robin story that doesn't have to involve the heroes meeting one another but is a story where each one handles some aspect of the main plot in each film, if that makes any sense?

Sort of like Pulp Fiction, but spread out over several movies?

Yeah. Events that are important to the over arcing plot of the shared universe would occur in the backgrounds of each films or effect the greater narrative in some way but the main characters don't have to meet per se or team up.

Or you could do something like have some element or plot that moves from film to film over the ages. If we take the pulp heroes as an example we have the first part be a Zorro adventure taking place in the 19th century. Elements move over to the Lone Ranger then The Shadow in the 1930's and maybe you finish up with Hornet and Kato in the 1960's?

^ Dynamite's MASKS pulp (pictured above) The Shadow, The Spider, The Green Hornet, Zorro, & more, although a great story and premise, was a bit bloated and unwieldy as far as characters, it just pulled to many from different places, and then barley had time to develop any of them individually.

I think they had more success and focus when they specifically brought together the great 3 Street & Smith publishing Pulp heroes;
Doc Savage, The Shadow & The Avenger, into the same universe, which made allot more sense.

As far as a movie verse, I'd love to see those three specifically developed under one movie studio, so they can cross over.
Doc Savage and The Shadow are both up for much needed movie reboots, (sadly I think they are optioned and being developed at different studios), as far as I know The Avenger has never got a movie.
But a shared Street & Smith Pulp movie universe would be great!

Another potential shared movie-universe is the worlds and characters of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Neither the latest John Carter or Tarzan films were a great success, but the potential is there.

As well as Tarzan and John Carter, adding other characters and concepts from; At the Earth's Core Pellucidar tales, Carson of Venus, and with some time fudging the Land That Time Forgot setting and characters, all work as stand alone films, and can cross over into shared-universe adventures.

^Dynamite (again) has secured several of these under one roof, and are doing just that in their Greatest Adventure series.
I've only bought one issue so far but seems like a great set up.

Under one movie studio this could definitely spark a shared movie-verse. (although unfortunately I think Disney has let Tarzan(which went to Warner Bros.) and is letting John Carter go) .

Although in a dream worst idea ever scenario, Disney and Warner could pool their efforts, and salvage the pieces of their failed John Carter and Tarzan attempts, with stars (Kitsch & Skarsgård), go against all expectations and rational, and do a shared Lords of Mars crossover.

The other fantasy shared universe is Several of the King Feature Syndicate comic strip characters which first crossed over into a shared universe in the 1972 cartoon "movie" Popeye Meets the Man Who Hated Laughter

In that cartoon, Pictured the King Feature Action-Heroes: Flash Gordon, Lothar, Mandrake, The Phantom, Steve Canyon for the first time came together to rescue the rest of the comic strip characters.

As most know them, it was revisited again when The Phantom, Mandrake, Lothar & Flash Gordon teamed up again in the 1985 Defenders of the Earth animated series.

And most recently yet again in Dynamite comics, who in 2013
secured the right to the three franchises under one roof, now naming them together as Kings Watch

Sadly, as far as the movies rights, I believe The Phantom, Mandrake + Lothar & Flash Gordon are being developed at different studious, so a shared movie-verse is unlikely at the time.

Matthew Vaughn of King's Men fame was recently hired to direct Flash Gordon, I think he'd actually be perfect to develop the Phantom too, as well as Mandrake & Lothar, and lead them into a shared universe.

Hopefully at some point, one studio can eventually get them under one roof.

Alien and Blade Runner is the obvious one I spose, it would mean reconning the former to a latter date which would arguably make a lot more sense anyway.

The Kurt Russel film Solider was considered to be in the Blade Runner setting by David Peoples, basically building off of the early idea of Blade Runner starting with a load of solder bodies being dumped on a planet and Batty surviving.

Bourne, Bond and Hunt . Matt Damon, Daniel Craig, and Tom Cruise , with
Tom Hardy as the big Bad.

Every body is just dropping the names of two franchises and calling it a day.

Gimme exactly how this all fits together. Give us just a little more depth and detail.
