I am a little behind on the $15/hr thing"

You live in debt. You probably don't have health insurance, and you may be on welfare, and other assistance programs. It's no way to live.

That's very sad to hear. I just don't get why it's an issue over there, if people are allowed to earn more it takes a huge burden off them, they get more time with friends and family, take comfort in knowing bills will be paid, and become happier, people who are happier are more productive because they aren't as stressed, which subsequently makes for a better working environment and a better standard of living.

Americans sort of skipped the social revolutions of Europe, so they're rather behind the curve when it comes to socialist concepts.

I feel like the US skipped over the social revolutions and went right to the racial stuff. :o

Yeah, but you're not thinking of the CEOs and other top tier workers. If they have to pay their employees more money then some cash might go out of their pockets and 20 generations down the line might not be living the life of luxury. While I agree not every minimum wage worker is worth $15/hour, I also don't like the fact that part of my taxes are going to assist that 40 hour/week McDonald's/Wal-Mart worker, while the company is hoarding money overseas so they don't have to pay taxes on it. Also, the reason why some of these McDonald's/Wal-Mart workers need to work there for minimum wage is because the factories that used to employ them, who had unions working to make sure they kept a livable wage are being closed, so they can be shipped overseas where workers are basically paid pennies.

Corporations have killed the American dream where if you work hard you'll live a good life. It happens for some people sure, but for a larger segment of the population it's just a myth. The way I've increased my pay is by moving to a new job, there's no raise like switching companies. However, if you're experience is in minimum wage moving from McDonald's to Burger King isn't going to get you a raise..
