I mean it! Every year, whether it's DC or Marvel there always has to be a big universe changing event!

Is that the law now???

Our Worlds At War, Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, 52, Civil War, WWIII, Count Down, World War Hulk.....

STOP IT ALREADY!!! :cmad: Can't we get just "one" year from either company, where things progress with regular action story lines??? A cross-over here and there. But nobody dying...no earth's or univeres destroyed, no nobody raped???? :cmad:

It's done so much now that it just looks like a cheat publicity stunt. The first Crisis was special... nothing like that had ever been done. But now it's done to death! :whatever:

Anybody else ever think about this??

Yeah, but we're even more tired of you.

Everyone I've talked to about this same thing is tired of big events.

I like them ,I rather read about a bunch of heroes fighting one great bad guy or war then one hero fighting a bank robber or some other one shot villain every day.
My favorites were Infinity war and Zero hour.

But I agree that they should break it up a bit maybe one huge event every few years instead of every year.

I think we all like them, just not right after each other with little "downtime"

Nobody has a gun to your head to buy the stuff.

World War Hulk is far from another big event. It's smaller than CW and is a very necessary story to tell.

How is it not a big event? It spans across a few books and has a trailer.

We're the problem. If we want to see these stopped, let's not buy 'em.

I just men't that when you read some thing like Spiderman vs whoever .
You pretty much know that Spiderman will get beat up for the first part and the comeback to win.
There is very little surprise in a normal every day comic.
You know none of the main or title charactors will die and if they do they will be back by the end of the month moth of the time.
When you have a 'event once a year anyone can die at any given time and it can change the whole universe possibly forever.

I think it's a great way to keep each year fresh but like I said I wouldn't mind having one every other year instead.

It really isn't fair to lump DC and Marvel's events in together. It's not like Marvel greenlit Countdown.

That said, I'm not really tired of it, and even if I was, honestly, I don't think there's any reason to complain about it. If you're tired of events, stop buying them. You didn't have to buy Civil War or 52 or anything. If you've had enough just stop, and wait to pick up the next event in a year or two. At least, that's what I'd do.

Personally, I'm really excited for World War Hulk and Countdown. I was never that into Civil War, and I'm really excited to see what characters Countdown features.

You are correct. Of course we seem to be a small part of the comic buying population. The majority are just slobbering idiots who seemingly buy anything Marvel or DC says will be big.

But why does any charcater have to "die" for it to entertain us? Good Grief! the more death and destruction the better?? That's my point. It's just gratuitous, now! Meaningless..... I think it's lazy story telling....shock value....They kill Question, Ted Cord, rape and kill Sue Dibney. Ralph is dead now......Why? $$$$$$$

The Galactus trilogy was an event. The Kree/Skrull War was another. Events don't have to change every friggin' thing. Events don't have to kill great charcters all the time.

It's only fresh if it doesn't happen every year!

No what I said was that in a reg comic you pretty much know what is going to happen, no one dies good guy wins.

In a event someone CAN die and most of the time you're not really sure what will come of it all.

No one has to die for me to like the book it's not about that or the "shock". It is the fact that there is a chance of something new comeing out of it.

As far as it not being fresh if it's done every year that is very true.
I guess it all depends on what is going on how and well it is written.

the death of Captain Stacy...Bullseye kills Elektra.....a death in the family...... Killing Joke when Babs is crippled by Joker.....Major things that happened without big cross-over cosmic events. Minimal carnage.....but still significant. See what I mean?

As stated above, it can still happen regular stories.

I like new stuff too. But I just get a little tired of how they are feeding it to us.

I guess.....

I'm sick of them too. And after WWH is an X-Men event. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Am I the only peson who looks foward to the big summer event anymore!?!?!?

I for one like events that bring character interaction. I like when villians get even more badass and most of my FAVORITE moments in comics come from the big crossovers. I like that every year I could read the big event cause quite frankly comics are boring without them to me. I just hate it when they have events on events and I can see how that gets annoying.

But I like looking foward to the next f**ked up situation that sets ***** off. A whole year is long enough to wait for the gears to start turning.

Yes, they breifly mentioned there is going to be an upcoming magic event.

Great, they'll probably need this 'magic' event to wipe the slate clean after the mess the last couple of events have made.

Need a problem solving - solve with magic:whatever:

Good writing is never "boring." Look at the storylines I posted previously....all of those were significant! But they didn't require destruction everywhere, rape, cosmic chaos....

And I like the big event concept. But every year???? No! Like anything else...it's too much.

Ha! If it's Marvel you're talking about, maybe it can bring back the "secret identities" of Peter Parker and Matt Murdock. :whatever:
