The Amazing Spider-Man I don't know what troubles me more...

But if you had actually READ what I was saying about the subject- then you'd have no reaon to think I was saying it should be in the film. The fault is on your end, buddy.

And I set the record straight by saying as long as it isn't in the film. Conflict Resolved

Hahaha! THat's a good one. You want people on a message board to pay attention before they respond. Know all available facts before they start forming opinions. Next you'll want them to be receptive to opposing points of view.

I know. John Lennon, King and me. Dreamers all. :D

Next you'll be asking people to disagree respectfully.

Pardon me kind sir, I would just like to point out a specific post that you made in the Spider-Man reboot thread. Although everyone here is entitled to their own opinion, I took it upon myself to be in a state of disagreement with a post you made in particular. I hope that this does not discomfort you in any way, please...carry on, and have a spectacular day

Sincerely,

Alchemyst

Yeah- Exactly. If you and Caleb in particular had simply read what I was actually saying rather than overreacting to the parents being spies, it would have been much abbreviated.
i read what you were saying...it wasnt going anywhere...i said i didnt think spy parents would work and didnt like the story...you asked me why like 12 times...i said because it would take away from the story and would be unneeded for the movie...then you said "no not for the movie...why do you hate the story from the comics?".......well this is a movie thread to begin with...and i told you that i thought it was just a junk story as some comics have sometimes...but that was my opinion...you continued to defend it like you wanted to see it in the movie...then when i called you out on it...you went back to "well i dont want it in the movie im just saying"
well then its worthless to talk about...so looking back....i cant help but just laugh :cwink:

Dude, your rundown is incorrect. That wasn't my gripe anyway.

My gripe was the repeated posts suggesting that I wanted the the spy angle in the films. And you kept adding fuel to the fire with that childish bet you kept hurtling at me long after I'd said that I didn't expect them to address the spy storyline in the films. I said it to you directly and you kept pressing the issue.

This is not strictly a thread about the films nor does it have to be. This is a movie based on a comic book, so the discussion would inevitably address the source material.

And I wasn't asking you why you don't like it, but to back up your initial point of how Spy parents would change Peter's life, which you never did. You kept going into why his parents being spies would add baggage to the film, which meant nothing to the discussion since I wasn't saying it should be in the film.

I also asked you to explain why it was "dumb". To me, something being "dumb" means implausible. Doesn't make sense. And I challenged you to explain why his parents being spies would not make sense. But there was no meaningful response on that either. I said I doubted you'd read the story since you didn't mention a single detail from the story.

Then you keep asking why I keep the "convo" going, when you're the one who keeps going back to it. If you have nothing more to say about it, then let it go.

Say its incorrect all you want...I went back and reread...thats what i got out of it
If you want the convo to be dropped then drop it...you are the one that is so hurt over the fact I just downright thing Parkers parents being spies is just a stupid story as some comic storylines sometimes add to come up with clever ideas. LOL
Just drop it yourself if it isnt such a big deal...take your own advice for once...and notice you are keeping this going for no reason :o:awesome:

This has turned into tragic-comedy. It's dumber than Spy-Parents could ever be. Peace.

the idea that some fans want the reboot modeled on Nolan's Batman movies, the push for the "Ultimate" approach or those clamoring for Sony to go the "Kick-Ass" route. None of these are a good fit for Spider-Man. Whether you liked what Raimi did or not, any of these would be moving further away from what Spider-Man is all about. I tend to think many of the posters on these forums don't know what they want. I keep seeing, "Make a simplified costume. It's more realistic that a teenager could make this!" At the same time I see "Bring in mechanical webshooters! It's closer to the comics!" So which is it? You want realism or greater adherance to the completely fictional premise of the comic book? ANd amidst all the complaints about the liberties that Raimi took with the villains, why would you want them to use "Ultimate" as the model for the new film? What could be further removed from Stan's concepts than that?
What do we really want?

This was the original topic of discussion

So now, coming back to the original topic of discussion. I don't necessarily say they should jump to realism. I never really kept up with the Ultimate Spider-Man comics like that, the most I know is that it's a modern day retelling of the story. I wouldn't mind seeing them take the Ultimate route, adding realism to every comic book film isn't the key to the films success. I believe that works for certain heroes, Batman being one of them due to the fact that he doesnt have powers.

I agree........oh so much! :awesome:

YES! back on topic! :)
I liked alot about Ultimate...The way Peter Parker was especially when he was Spider-Man...his quips were great!
The problem? the villains...but I agree some things from Ultimate wouldnt be so bad

from what little I have read of the Ultimate Spider-Man, he did seem like more of a smart ass, It would be great to see that on film. He should have a few fights where he just downright pisses somebody off due to those quips.

Really? There's nothing that we know about the film to suggest they're taking the Ultimate approach.

Gwen is the love interest and she's into science. Thst comes from 616. In Ultimate MJ was the love interest and into science. And in Ultimate George Stacy's name is John.

READ!
I meant the Ultimate approach of Parker...He was a smart mouth kid in High School...We were talkin about the approach of Parker in Ultimate is pretty great and a lil different...I mentioned the villains sucking...but besides that...
Did I ever say anything else about Ultimate? You are looking for anything now but its kinda coming off as just down right funny business

I would agree that for the most part, "Ultimate" nailed Peter pretty well but went a little nuts with everyone else.

yeah...wayyy too far with the villains...Norman was done well though as well...GG was...not great
Norman like Ultimate Norman in the spidey movies would be brilliant...no sympathy...just a complete egotistical evil greedy man

It's funny that you seem to make up the rules as you go along, and flip out for getting called on it.

But "on subject" The quips started long before Ultimate. And Garfield is way too old to play Ultimate Peter. They pretty clearly won't be following any storylines uniqe to Utlimate, so the Ultimate thing doesn't seem likely.

However, Ultimate Peter was pretty cocky. I like the more humble Peter.

I like Ock's tentacles here more than the original Ock tentacles

There arent any rules...you look far too into things as if they hurt you deep...take it easy man lolol...my god...

also the difference in quipping is the quipping when peter first started in the amazing series was a few good ones...in ultimate...it was non stop quipping just to piss the villain off...which ended up working by frustrating them so bad that they screwed up...so there was a difference and itd be somethin id like to see...Garfield still looks young...and although he will probably be a senior in hs...they could still give that added spark of smartass that Ultimate Parker had
