The Amazing Spider-Man I love Spider-Man but I hope this movie fails.

LOL! So this guy has the power to decide who 'deserves' success or not.

Yeah, that was not really a smart thing to say.

Let's face it, this thread should be locked or ignored.

Mods, why are you allowing this troll bait to continue?

So if the film is a success, and for all the hard work the cast and crew put into this film, they still don't deserve it? jeez...

Who said anything about hard work? You work there?

I mean, people do hard work and crappy work on movies all the time. Doesn't mean they will be good. It sucks but that's just true.

This movie is being made because their original team quit on them. Why should a studio who treats their workers badly get a successful movie?

I mean, they probably will. But I'm only saying how I feel.
Weren't you going to ignore me? Was that you?

Yes. We who aren't excited for a movie are all trolls. We have no valid points.

We're discussing. No one is throwing insults.

But the difference is that Batman Begins looked awesome.

To me and many others, this does not.
I'm not hating on the film simply because the studio. I am hating on it because just about everything I've seen looks bad. Sorry I can't change how I feel.

You can bring back whatever post you want. If I like it, great. If I don't, oh well.
Drop it.

And this reboot looks awesome. It still sounds, in every post you make on here, that you're simply despising anything good about this movie because of Sam Raimi's trilogy. Whether that's the truth or not, it seems that way from you and a lot of other people that are just blasting at this reboot.

How many times have I said I like Andrew, Emma, Dennis, and Sheen? Really? I mean, parts of it are good. Some ideas are good. Lizard as a villain is awesome. An Ultimate Spider-Man-type story is great.

But how is it looking other than that? Well, to me, not very good. It's like the ideas are good but the execution is just coming off silly or weird. What do you want me to do? Lie?

Ok. Please be specific...other than the costume, what looks "not very good" to you??

Yes. We who aren't excited for a movie are all trolls. We have no valid points.

I said it was bait. Obviously, seeing as the thread title states "...but I hope this movie fails". That's kind of a "no *&^& sherlock" when it comes down to troll bait.

And as much as a "major social network" is a great way to gather the general public and what not, there are still people that just don't care about that crap. I have facebook and I didn't "like" the film's page because I don't care about that. I'm going to still be watching the film, but that whole new idea of "liking" every single thing that interests you and et cetera is bogus. People will be watching the film more than the number of "likes" the page gets. And if that's how you're getting your info, well, you should try something else.

I agree with that but I was just giving a common example. No facebooks not defining.

Then let's take my brother for example...he's not very much into the whole comic book idea and what not and doesn't care for stuff such as that, but he's looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man, so I think he could be counted as part of the general audience that is looking forward to the film. Even with the general audience, Spider-Man 3 was garbage to some and so this refreshing take is necessary for them as well. It wasn't just countless "geeks" that went to go see Batman Begins, it was people wanting to see a great movie in general. You're stereotyping in thinking only a type of group is excited for this movie.

I'm not generalizing. I'm just saying the fact that webshooters are included isnt going to be a huge draw like Venom was in SM3. I can agree with you though that people thinking the trailer looks good will be.

We've seen plenty enough and as much as we've seen of The Avengers. Yet, you're not complaining about that film, only Spidey.

You THINK. You do not KNOW.

I already touched on that in my last post, I have doubts about that movie as well haha.

Lol....I don't get the comparison, but it sure made me laugh. Oh, and Craig Ferguson > all of them.

Jimmy Falon or Craig Ferguson are the best right now but I did like Conan in his day. Anyway I was saying Raimi is like Conan and Sony is like NBC. Conan go the tonight show after have a long success on Late night, but NBC put the previous hosts show on in the time-slot right before his (something other hosts hadnt had. When the ratings started going bad (less than a year into it) they told conan they were pushing is show back to a later time to accommodate Leno. The result was a divided public filled with team Conans and team Lenos debating whether or not Conan got a fair chance.

I was saying similarly we have Raimi who got kind of screwed by his studio with Spider-Man 3 and rather than have more time to show he still had it with Spider-Man 4 they just canceled his franchise. If you compare team Conan and Leno to Raimi and Webb, it kind of feels like you have the same thing going on. You have one group of Fans who have a solid opinion and another group that has an equally valid but differing opinion.

So it's wrong for people to hate the movie AFTER they saw it? Shame on us for that then....

Lol...or people were smart enough to have their own opinions on how bad the movie was without having to listen to a review. You're tugging on straws, man.

I didnt say anything about Spider-Man 3. I simply said people loved Spider-Man 1 and 2 before 3 came out. After they saw it, it seems like they decided the whole franchise sucked too.

And, also...(500) Days of Summer was a pretty great movie. I have it, but if you don't believe me, should I take a picture of myself holding it? Haha.

I believe you. I respect that you actually back your points up and read through my whole posts instead of just generalizing. I don't know, there were scenes in 500 days of summer I loved, like when they played in the department store but overall I though Summer was kind of selfish for not giving him a legitimate chance. It wasnt a bad movie by any means, I just really dont think it was great.

It kinda pisses me off I got a warning for insulting someone when I've been insulted multiple times in this thread. Its obvious which side the mods are on.

Quote where you have been insulted?I'm just curious. Sure, I'm up for a good old fashion debate but why result to name calling? IT'S A MOVIE.

Ok. Please be specific...other than the costume, what looks "not very good" to you??

Lizard
SWAT Lizards (possibly happening, more likely now that we have products that are usually accurate with other films)
Skateboarding "Punk rock (quoted from Webb?)" Peter who in the trailer looks like a weirdo with his hoodie on and taking notes super angsty. I can't help but :whatever: at that. I mean, yeah Peter was a punk in Spidey 3, but at least he was under the influence.
"THE UNTOLD STORY." I don't need to explain that, do I?
No Jameson
No Bugle? Or at least no job there from what I have heard.
Is he still a 15 year old like we were told awhile back? Because Andrew does not look it at all. I'd take 18 maybe. I know they're trying to throw this in high school, but get real. I hope the 15 thing isn't true.
I also am baffled by the dark tone of the trailer, yet all the footage is like, supposedly light-hearted.
And, this is small: I liked 500 Days of Summer, but it gave me no reason to think Webb is a good candidate for Spidey. I mean, we'll see though.

What the hell is up with this font? I can barely read it. :csad:

Maybe the initial post was troll bait, who knows. But I am simply stating my opinion. Sorry to anyone who thinks it's not rosy.

Glad we can agree on this then.

I'm not generalizing. I'm just saying the fact that webshooters are included isnt going to be a huge draw like Venom was in SM3. I can agree with you though that people thinking the trailer looks good will be.

Lizard will have a bigger draw than Venom mostly because he's a more classic villain and there are a number of Spidey fans that enjoy the more classic villains, such as how people would've wanted to see the combo of Sandman/Vulture instead. That was the biggest draw of Raimi to do the trilogy in the first place and even Tobey's favorite was a classic villain known as Sandman.

I already touched on that in my last post, I have doubts about that movie as well haha.

Such as what(regarding Avengers)?

Cancelled after Sam Raimi left. Granted, Sony really *****ed things up even with Spider-Man 3, but let's not forget that Raimi walked off, Sony didn't just push him out of the door and then called for the reboot.

I didnt say anything about Spider-Man 3. I simply said people loved Spider-Man 1 and 2 before 3 came out. After they saw it, it seems like they decided the whole franchise sucked too.

Those would be the *****ey bandwagon fans. But, I still love Spider-Man 2, like Spider-Man 1, and of course hate Spider-Man 3. Now, that would be different if Raimi was able to stick to his own agenda. But, do I care for the cheesy factors within the trilogy? No, I do not, but Sam Raimi is known for that element, seen even in the Evil Dead films.

I believe you. I respect that you actually back your points up and read through my whole posts instead of just generalizing. It was an absolutely astounding movie to just be a romantic comedy, and I really hate those. To make me become a fan of that genre for just that film, I think that's saying a lot, imo.

Weren't you going to ignore me? Was that you?

I un-shunned you because I JUST HAD TO RESPOND. Have you ever done work on films or even small, no-budget films before? The work is hard, tedious and time consuming. Regardless of whether a film is good or bad, the work that has to be done is hard. But yes, I WILL DEFINITELY ignore you now because I can't take anymore of your nonsense.

What's wrong with that? I was excited to hear that Spider-Man would have to handle some minions of the Lizard.

Because it sounds stupid. It is better as filler for the video game.

Why can't we just have Lizard? We don't need minions. SWAT Lizards. Good golly.

Really, dude? Did I not just say "people work hard" when it came to movies?
Really?

Thanks for posting this. I am not gonna argue with you over your opinions here...although I don't agree with your reasons for thinking this is not exciting but from one Spidey fan to another, I hope the next trailer erases your doubt.

Thank you for being mature about it.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO BE TAKING NOTES FROM THE OTHER WEBHEAD.

It may raise my hopes or lower them but I doubt it will erase them.

And why can't we have other creatures for Spider-Man to fight? They're mere minions, they aren't going to steal spotlight. This is like saying "why have Spider-Man fight thugs, why not just the Lizard?"

I really can't see anything wrong with it. Having Spider-Man take on several other lizard creatures sounds like a great action scene.

Well, as long as you have some points that you do like. Just making sure.

So, is it the way he looks? Because you said you're glad he's the villain, so I'm assuming it's the way he looks that you don't like, correct?

SWAT Lizards (possibly happening, more likely now that we have products that are usually accurate with other films)

THIS is something even I am worried about, but I want to hold my judgment on this aspect until I see how it happens and looks in the film. It may make sense with the movie, who knows.

Webb wanted to have a modernized take on Peter, and being in New York, I think a "punk-rock attitude" can fit. It differs itself from what we know of about Peter, that's for sure though.

"THE UNTOLD STORY." I don't need to explain that, do I?

His parents, a true story regarding Gwen Stacy. It may seem like a sloppy tagline to some, but it does have some truth to it.

No Jameson

Makes sense since...

No Bugle? Or at least no job there from what I have heard.

There's no Daily Bugle without the references to it. But, Peter didn't work there in high school during Spider-Man, either.

Is he still a 15 year old like we were told awhile back? Because Andrew does not look it at all. I'd take 18 maybe. I know they're trying to throw this in high school, but get real. I hope the 15 thing isn't true.

I have no idea what his age is. I'd say 17. Hey, we were told he'd be in college as well, so I wouldn't trust them right away with him being 15 in the film.

I also am baffled by the dark tone of the trailer, yet all the footage is like, supposedly light-hearted.

I think a mix of "dark" and "light" for this movie might be pretty good and break some boundaries. We rarely see a CBM that blends both and perfectly.

And, this is small: I liked 500 Days of Summer, but it gave me no reason to think Webb is a good candidate for Spidey. I mean, we'll see though.

Did Raimi seem like a right candidate with usually doing dark, horror films?

That doesn't even make sense. How can you do "hard" work and "crappy" work?

And I said, regardless of whether a film is good or bad, the work is always hard.

And why can't we have other creatures for Spider-Man to fight? They're mere minions, they aren't going to steal spotlight. This is like saying "why have Spider-Man fight thugs, why not just the Lizard?"

What in the hell is wrong with some added elements to the villain he's going to be fighting?

SWAT lizards. It sounds stupid. The toy looks stupid.

Lizard makes minions in the comics, yes.
But just because it's in the comics does not mean it works for movies. Why can't we just have Spider-Man fight the SWAT team Dark Knight style?

That doesn't even make sense. How can you do "hard" work and "crappy" work?

And I said, regardless of whether a film is good or bad, the work is always hard.

Maybe I should have said "do hard work on movies and crappy work on movies" instead. I don't think you understand.

Well, as long as you have some points that you do like. Just making sure.

Yes, the way Lizard looks. Toys, promo pics on the toys, concept art, whatever. He looks stupid.

And Raimi did horror, comedy, drama, and even the movie Darkman. His movies were great at humor and seriousness really.

As for the Bugle, go the USM route.
