Listen, I had no problem with Katie Holmes. I thought see was fine in Begins. I believe the problem with her really started with the stupid TomKat crap. I really do. I don't believe there would be such dislike for her if none of that happened, but on to my point. While I have no problem with the rachel dawes character I do feel she should die by the Jokers hand. I read a post earlier in this thread that Batman doesn't need the Rachel to die to hate the Joker. Batman does not HATE the Joker to start of their "relationship". He dispises him like he does any other criminal element in Gotham but he does not hate him. Not only would the death of Rachel build a great load of tension between Batman and the Joker, it would advance Bruces mental state to a point that has yet to be seen. Her death would send Bruce down a downward spiral that would bring him closer to crossing the line that he has been tip toeing on, and it would push him closer to becoming the thing that he is fighting so hard against, a criminal. I could see Rachel talking both to Bruce and the Batman trying to help clean up Gotham City. While doing so the Joker can take notice of this relationship between Batman and Rachel, and he can decide to use it to his advantage. He may even have a well thought out game of Batman having to find her in time to save her and he just can't do it. I think whatever way it is done the death of Rachel would be an interesting addition to the sequel.

I can always separate fiction from reality.I never pay attention to some haters for only dissing Kate because of TomKat. Only a few celebs are role models, none of them are perfect and what did Kate do wrong anyway? we dont know anything about this people unless we're employees of Tom or Katie. Rachel is in Nolan's hands now and Goyer too.

Personally however, i think predictable or not, it could be an integeral part of the story, continuing the darkened theme, as well as her becoming another notch on the list of Jokers victims. This would also, if Holmes is killed early on, provide the oppurtunity to introduce another romantic female element, which i feel they will do to appeal to a wider audience.

Hey, that gives me an idea.

What if between BB and TDK, Joker has already kidnapped and murdered Rachel? The movie opens with Bruce in grieving and we see flashbacks of the murder and Batman failure to rescue her.

That would be good, but it all depends on what angle they take. Whether or not they choose to include the Jokers origin. Either way, IMO, Dawes should dye by the Jokers hand, hands, crowbar, whichever, as long as its good.

If Rachel is just killed, then I'll be very disappointed.

Mabey Joker could kidnap Rachel at somepoint and after brainwashing and some toxins or whatever else he utilizes she becomes his right hand girl, Harley Quinn. Now wouldn't that piss off Bats.

Batman has a batarang to Joker neck, contemplating killing him as Harley/Rachel looks on.

Joker: "Harley, why don't you go take a flying leap off that building."
