Metal Gear Online is addictive as hell. I just managed to pry myself away to post on here :woot:

I'll take ya all on, c'mon Hype! I challenge the lotta ya!

(I am easily excited.)

Id join ya, but the pos wont let me connect to it.

I'm bout to try and use the ethernet cord just to see if the problem is the wireless capabilities of the PS3. I mean, for u guys who have owned this system for awhile, is the wireless connection pretty good on this thing? I mean i can damn near get a signal to my Xbox's wireless from a house away, but the PS3 seems like its having problems picking up a signal from the next room.

Aye the wireless didn't work with me either, I'm having to use the cable.

Ah damn, thats out of the question for me. As my system is too far from my computer. I thought i had a 50 foot ethernet cable, but i left it at my condo up at school. Thats really dissapointing that the wireless built into the PS3 doesnt have a strong enough connection to run MGO...i can see why Xbox Live is just better.

The WiFi in the PS3 has nothing to do with the PS3's online service. You'd have to be comparing the PSN vs Live. Your problems are most likely your internet connection/router and/or settings. I've only been able to use WiFi on my PS3 since I got it last summer and have absolultely no problems with it. The times when I have, had had nothing to do with the PS3, but the connection throughout my house at the time. The system is defiently "strong" enough to handle wireless internet capabilitites

Same here. I cleared Solid Normal in 21 hours (with cutscenes), and i played it for a week in little bits. I had no complaints about the length what so ever.

And MGS2 did have the longest cutscenes to my knowledge. I belive that there was a part of the game where i had atleast 45 straight minutes of cutscenes.

And this game lived up to the hype for me. And it even exceeded them.
The final cutscene in MGS4 was just about an hour. It was broken up into parts, but altogether, that epilogue ran for about an hour

Well, ill put it this way, NO problems with the Xbox, cant connect to MGO on the PS3. They're in the same spot, connecting to the same WiFi source. Unless something is just wrong with the MGS4 disc, or something just isnt set right with in the system itself, then it can be nothing else other than the WiFi thats built into the PS3.

Do you have the same problems with other games? If its just MGO, then thats most likely bc it does NOT use the Sony's online service. Almost every other game for the system, with the exception of launch stuff like Resistance (bc the PS3 didnt have its online service setup then), use the PSN and it works pretty well. Konami did their own thing with this game and while I havent touched the retial version yet, I do remember that it was a huge clusterf--l in the beta. Konami's online infrastructure sucked and I would have hoped they got that fixxed. Will have to try it out sometime soon. They really should have used Sonys bc nearly every other game does and it works. Unfortunetly, alot of people got the PS3 for MGS4, and playing MGO, will then have a bad impression of the PS3's online capabilities when really its the worst example out there. Trust me, MGO is the exception

Yea, the only games i have are Uncharted and MGS4(the PS3's best games  ). After combing through the instruction manual, i noticed that in the walk through for MGO, if you follow the wireless route, it leads you to a box that says "id recommend a wired connection, its more stable". Which leads me to believe that unless your PS3 is literally sitting on top of the router, its not gonna connect via WiFi. Im still perplexed as to why it wont even let me download MGO tho, i mean nothing, just boots me to the XMB.

Ugh, want Big Boss emblem but don't want to go all the way back round to get the Solar Gun when I worked so hard to get up to the bike bit that I'm on now. :(

Sony should have never allowed Konami to do their own thing here but I think they did so as a sign of good business since they owe them alot for MGS4.

I dont know if you'll find anyone (probably not) but the Burnout Paradise demo was a good one to try out the PSN's online gameplay. I heard Battlefield is good, but I havent played that

Well, i mean i doubt once I'm connected to a game that itd be any different from whats experienced with Live. I doubt ill do any online gaming on the PS3 being that I'm already connected to Live and see no reason to leave, but im dying to give MGO a try out. Maybe ill go out and buy a 50ft ethernet cable(if thats the problem) then just return it and grab the one i have at my condo next time im up at school.

Dude...I hate to be a downer, but the Solar Gun is a LIFESAVER during the Vamp fight :csad:.

Yeah. :(

I put it on Liquid Easy to run through and get all the idols last night. Pretty annoyed now, I was doing ace time wise,

does this game make anyone else want to replay the other games? Ive played all of them in the past couple of months but after playing MGS4, I really feel I need to go back to MGS2S bc all that background with the Patriots and AIs can be a bit overwhelming. I think I can now make some more sense out of it now that I know how it all comes together

I was surprised that Konami did things this way bc in the last game, unlockables were only usable in the difficulty in which you unlocked them in.

I was actually considering picking up the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection.

Its a great value for the price. Have you played all of the previous games before?

Yes I played my cousins copy of MGS constantly back when I was a young one and the Playstation was the system to have. It is probably my favorite game of all time it is a wonder that I have never actually owned it. Which is why I loved the return to Shadow Moses in MGS4 it made the nostalgic feelings just rush over me.

MGS2 I remember playing but can't remember if I rented it or what? I just remember beating once vaguely but I thought it was a great game despite having to play as Raiden.

MGS3 I actually just got around playing it last year and finishing it. The funny thing is I wasn't even looking to play it. I worked in a videostore and someone had brought it in for trade and I was like "Why haven't I played this yet?!" So I took it home and finished it and brought it back the next day.

Okay good. I would highly advise anyone from touching MGS4 unless they played those other 3 games first. You wont know what the heck is going on with the story, the characters or those flashbacks without the background info. I just played through all of them agian recently and I still feel I need to go back to clear some stuff up

Yeah if you notice my post a page or two back I said the same thing..lol.

its true, unless they had doing Bigboss mode in mind, cos you really have to stock up on things before you do it

I wonder why so many of you are having problems with MGO? First time I tried it it worked perfect. You just have to click the link and sign up, and then it should work. Also since it uses the internet browser to sign up check to make sure Java script is turned on and all. Honestly it has never given me trouble, and PSN has only been down like once the entire time I've had a PS3 (that I've been on and tried to access it that is) so not sure what the problem is. Works fine for me.

Also I just dl'd the MGS database, it's a nice freebie. I searched thru and finally understood why Raiden is what he is in MGS4
The Patriots experimented on him ala Grey Fox when they caught him. I always thought his body was just falling apart.
So the database is already doing me some good :).
