The Official Metal Gear Solid Thread

I wouldn't mind Bale, but I'd rather have someone unknown.

What about the guy who does the voice for Snake? David Hayter I think? He resembles him somewhat. Not sure how good of an actor he is, but I see he starred in Guyver 2. So never mind then I guess.

MGO TGS Trailer

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25133.html?type=wmv

I like the focus on Teamwork... and on that note... gameplay footage from the show floor. One think that I liked about MGO prior, is, for good of bad, it always strives to make you feel like you weren't just a skin/polygn model playing multilayer, but that you were actually in the world of MGS. THe return of the Snake versus Squad mode (with the addition of Otacon via MKII) makes me happy.

That trailer was brilliant. The team aspect'll make that a great online game.

I love how they're using locations from Metal Gear Solid 3 such as Grozny Grad in the game. I hope that the Tanker, Shadow Moses, and other locations in the saga appear.

So whoever plays Snake also has someone playing as the lil' Metal Gear? That's cool...

Effing sweet, a sequel to Portable Ops has been confirmed!

A true sequel? Not just portable Ops+? Link?!?!

Was about to post. Awesome news. I'll update front post.

Also it turns out that the song in the first Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer (E3 2006) is called the Love Theme according to Smash Bros.com

Yeah. Oh man so many MGS games of greatedness. :(

"Following the presentation of the Beauty and the Beast trailer, Kojima engaged a short QA session that provided little hard information but a number of laughs from the crowd. When asked whether the recently unveiled Metal Gear Online would be included in MGS4 or released as a separate SKU (or retail item), Kojima and other Konami reps indicated that at least some aspect of MGO's gameplay would appear as an online mode in MGS4. However, the final plans for the eventual release of Metal Gear Online have yet to be decided. He also confirmed that boss characters from some past Metal Gear games will appear as playable characters in MGO."

The legendary mercenary makes his miraculous Smash debut! This law-breaking news roared around the world.

He comes fully-loaded with cool and showy weapons that only he could possess. Fusing these together with the different wondrous worlds on display really does offer new horizons.

LoL, last pic looks like a would be Hero Rape scene

Zero Armor Samus would be my choice.

If I do ever play this game though, I;m making a straight line for Metaknight first.

I'm too lazy to fetch links but...

Smash bros' site also has Snake's special moves up and Gametrailers have LOADS of cam MGO gameplay.

Apparently a 'starter pack' will come with MGS4, MGO proper won't beb until after that apparently, it it might be totally bundled with MGS4, plans are in flux.

It’s not just Snake’s special moves that use ordnance—so do his Smash attacks. Can that be?

He’s shooting something up in the air!

He’s planting something!

<Side Special Move: Remote Missile>

This is called a Nikita. It’s a remote-controlled missile.

Missile fired!

You can control the missile yourself! But since Snake is so focused on controlling the missile, he’s completely defenseless while he does so.

If things get dangerous, press the shield button to stop controlling the missile.

<Standard Special Move: Hand Grenade>

Try walking around with the pin out.

Press your special-move button to pull out the pin. The grenade will explode after a few seconds, so be aware of the time and press the special-move button again to toss the grenade.

Strong throw!

Mid throw!

Soft throw!

There are three ways to throw the grenade.
Tilt the Control Stick forward, not at all, or backward.

In some cases, grenades you drop may get returned to sender.

And his recovery special move is...

<Up Special Move: Cypher>

snake_070921l-l.jpg

Oh! Watch out! In times like this...

Shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh!

Use his flying reconnaissance camera, the Cypher, to recover. Snake can’t fly, but he’ll do what he must.

He’ll use anything in the battlefield. That’s the crux of survival.

I love you Zenien. That Cypher move is pure genius.

Any final smash guesses? "Metal Gear?! Its already active!"

I support your idea by giggling like a schoolgirl! :D

Snake holding onto the Cypher is genius and hilarious. What do you think about his revealed theme? Granted I'm sure they'll have multiple MGS songs jus tlike they're going to have multiple music mixes for each stage, but I was thinking his core theme would be more classic MGS, not a remix of the MGS4 vocal track.

I was secretly hopping for the skateboard music from MGS2 Substance, but it'll do, especially reassurance of the motif towards the end of the text. :up:

Can't bloody wait for that game...

lol

Konami is becoming quite an outspoken company when it comes to the success or lack thereof of Sony's PlayStation 3, and at the company's Tokyo Game Show press event this week, it couldn't help but throw a tongue-in-cheek jab at the console's expense. Do you see? It's not just we gamers who like to kick a console when it's down.

Executive Director of Online Contents Production Kazuya Takahashi was talking about mobile phone gaming when he prepared the insult cannon for firing. From IGN:

While making a point about how every consumer has a mobile phone (and it is therefore the biggest market for gaming), he asked everyone in attendance who had a Wii. Next, he asked who had a Nintendo DS. Finally he asked, "How many of you have a PlayStation 3? Probably none."

Ouchies, that's cold. Also, before the defensive Sony fans ask why this is news (they never question bad news about the Wii or Xbox 360), remember that Konami has threatened in the past to look into and maybe revise its exclusivity deals with the PS3 if sales don't pick up. Personally, I just think it's quite funny.
