The Joker wears a purple suit with a few stylistic flourishes (spats, orchid, tails, cravatte) that make it appear more clown-like. On its own terms, it's like a Nolanised clown suit. Sadly, Nolan may Nolanise something that has been Nolanised already. That can lead to an overdose of blandness.
This rests on whether or not Heath was in full makeup/costume. If he wasn't being filmed at the time, then he probably wasn't.
At the same time, I have always believed that his Joker would apply his own makeup. It was quite obvious even in the first official image, where his white facepaint was clearly smeared over his red lips. No one listened at the time!![]()
in this pic IMO the skin doesnt look normal. so even if this is white paint hes skin texture still doesnt look normal. its still looks like something happened to hes skin.

this is very interesting ''dunked in whatever chemical from the front''
i have an image in my head where a nad guy is holding jokers head and he pushes hes head in the chemicals. it would explain why the neck is normal.
i would really like this
wait, I thought he was white all over end of story?
Wonderful. What happens when they catch him and wash his make-up off?
yeah so anyway can someone lock this it's just spinning in lopsided circles
I think people are missing the point of my original post. It was not to eulogise Jack, or make people nostalgic, but to make a point about make-up, and the difference between what we think is there and what is needed to make us think it. You think Jacks chest was white during filming?
Oh if you were referring to that, then nevermind. I see those as more of "accessories", rather than part of his wardrobe or what makes up his appearance.
it gets kind of circular to keep hearing people ask if the joker is actually pink underneath the makeup when it's been repeatedly stated that he'll have (at the least) a bleached faceit's called a conversation in a forum. relax. this is good stuff. one of the more relevant threads happening at the moment.
no, no one thinks that. and no one's complaining that they use makeup in the real world to achieve the joker on screen. what we're concerned about is the character of the joker using only makeup to achieve his look. that ain't joker.

i don't see what you're seeing regwec- i see bleached, ruined skin with red lipstick in the website photo. that's just me
Jett sez "He just IS."
EGGxactly. i can't believe i'm saying this, but this thread needs the guard. some of you guys (not you micah) are missing how crutial the "freak" aspect of the joker is to his persona. face paint does not equal freak. hey speaking of doesn't the bank manager say "what kind of freak are you!?!" i can't imagine a manager saying that to the insane clown posse.
Is what?
I would absolutely love if there was a twist like that.
About this leaked report, if it were true, would that mean he wears joker make-up prejoker? Or that he applies flesh colored make-up to his neck after the incident?
Also after the fox news video and seeing him laugh i think i could enjoy it alot even if it did appear that he wore make-up, but they never found out for sure.
At the right (our right) hand corner of Heath's mouth, there is a sort of "dry brushing" of white paint, that has covered the apexes of the grooves of his skin (or his prosthetic skin), but left the troughs red. So The white paint is applied after the red.
The fact that we even have to try to find a way to see the silver lining in all of this...
That's possible, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that. Ever lay down a blank sheet paper down on a gravestone (or any other object with raised lettering/desigins), and color over it with crayon? It could be similar to that.At the right (our right) hand corner of Heath's mouth, there is a sort of "dry brushing" of white paint, that has covered the apexes of the grooves of his skin (or his prosthetic skin), but left the troughs red. But I still don't know how you can tell this. Explain ti to me, seriously. It's all if's, but's and maybe's so far.no, no one thinks that. and no one's complaining that they use makeup in the real world to achieve the joker on screen. what we're concerned about is the character of the joker using only makeup to achieve his look. that ain't joker.
Thank you. This is my point - we are judging raw footage as finished film and making premature conclusions. Wait and see. If he applies make-up, and that's all he uses to give him his look, I'll be disappointed.I still don't think we can confirm either way about the make-up issue judging from that video. He's chilling on-set, skateboarding and chatting with crew. He doesn't even have his suit jacket on: he's just got the pants and the (unbuttoned) shirt.
I'll wait and see what his neck looks like in an official pic, with him in full costume, before I come to any conclusions.
But regwec, weren't you saying for that same pic, that Heath did not have green hair in it and you were afraid the Joker would not have green hair in TDK?
Why are people jumping to negative conclusions so readily?
