The Dark Knight I hope there is no love interest.

I would gladly embrace a Batman film with no love interest.

Dark Knight Returns
The Killing Joke
Year One
Arkham Asylum

Some of the greatest graphic novels, none of which involve a love interest.

Hush was good with love interest, but it was Catwoman. That's cooler than some no name chick who wants some bat action.

Depends how they do it, but without a love interest it could be cooler. Just because they could have more scenes of cool stuff and keep the action and intensity non stop. Not saying a love interest is BAD...

Just saying that it would be cool to see Batman so dedicated in this movie that he (almost) loses himself.

I get what you mean and agree.

wtf? how does it make him gay if there's no love intrest in the movie? Arkham Asylum ASHOSE didn't have one neither did The Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns, etc etc etc.......he doesn't always deal with women as far as love intrests go.

Damn Kool-Aid, you beat me to it...

In Hush, he & Catwoman had a pre-established history. He didn't forget what he was doing to pursue her.

Exactly why I am saying it worked in Hush:)

I prefer no love interest, but if they have one than she should flow with the movie and make it better rather than worse.

I hated Nicole Kidman in Batman Forever. That was just like...brutal...lol...

There WILL be a love interest of some sort, it's too big a film from the producers point of veiw, not to cover the love interest base for film goers, sad, but true.

All the love interests in the previous series sucked. He was so stupid w/Vicki & she was a ditz. He didn't know anything about Selina & their interaction made no sense. Chase had to be the dumbest educated woman on the planet. Julie's one saving grace was that she had about 5 minutes of screen time in that overcrowded debacle.

She was best thing in BF and She was hot in that movie!

I think there should be no love interest involving Bruce.

Unless Katies character returns, even though I hate her as a an actress and her character.
But the constant revolving door of throw away female characters degrades the story, in my opinion. It is superficial, cliche for the superhero genre and adds nothing. Unless they're going to have a returning love interest, which even then I don't like. Batman can't have a love life because of the life he lives, he just can't. Though, I think it would be interesting to touch on the how Bruce deals with the frustrations of not being able to be in a relationship with anybody.

Why not just focus on the other characters love lifes. Like Gordon, or Dent?
It worked well in The long Halloween and Year one.

well Rachel doesnt necessarlily have to be a love interest. I agree Bruce Wayne should be the playboy he pretends to be, but with Rachel still around it can show some interesting tension where he still harbors feeling for her, but he knows he cant do anything about it. It humanizes him even when hes terrorizing criminals in a giant bat suit. and then if they decide bring in someone like Talia (hopefully) or Selina, she could either evolve into a strictly a friend, or things can go sour and their relationship could be strictly professional or (in the third) she could die.

I say there should be a love interest, but one that can't really be acted on at the moment.

It should be Selina Kyle.

And I think even having Bruce be frustrated at not being able to have a relationship shouldn't be the case. He should be completely ambivalent about relationships because he's so one-track-minded about crime fighting. He's obsessed and it consumes him. He pretends to be the playboy but honestly he couldn't care less. We could have someone trying to get in but never making it because he's too far off.

If this franchise pulls the different 007 Ladies then why bother include a love arc? Its pointless.

But I get the feeling and I sure hope they stick to Rachel and it does not have to consume the movie. If they want this Batman different then why not write in a more mature, intelligent, realistic relationship?
Like most relationships and marriages it takes two to make it work other than the typical angstville, teeny bopper, love triangles most superhero movies have. Batman's relationship will hit home to many from best friends turned lovers, from viewpoints of Firemen, cops, soldiers, i.e.relationships whose partners are most of the time away or on the frontlines.
Or as a woman there's a time Im disheartened that my man works many long hours so I miss our quality time and it sometimes strains the relationships.

Continuity and one woman man seems to be trendy these days because it works, it does not insult the viewers intelligence and there's more story credibility, women and men buy the story.
It worked for Spiderman,Superman, and now rumors of MI-4 will still have Ethan's wife Michelle Monaghan's character back.
Even when MI-3 was filming they wanted Thandie Newton from part 2 as Ethan's love interest but Newton was also starting out her family in real life so she chose her family that time and TPTB had to choose Monaghan.
JJ Abrams and Cruise wanted continuity and more humanity to the character and relationship.
Now Bond 22 will even have Eva Green returning for the next James Bond because many feel rotating ladies are really a joke and it bogs down the story and multidimensional character development.

All weekend and last night on E news that had the E special on TomKat but it caught my attention when they featured the quote by Michael Caine saying "he is close to Katie and misses her a lot. She's like part of the Batman family but when she fell in love they had less contact with her and they all miss that".
Very interesting comment.
We shall see if Katie will prioritize her career or motherhood.
The press are already heating up the news on Tom's upcoming films
and being boss of MGM and United Artists so no doubt they will get nosy next on Kate.

There's always a love intrest,

its....

"All in the game." -- Traditional West Baltimore

The only love interest we need in the new series is Talia Al Ghul. Just as long as she doesn't reveal her identity to Bruce until movie #3.

Forget the love interest on TDK. We'll wait for Katie/Rachel for Batman 3.
LOL!

TDK will hopefully rule even more than BB.
But the one weak link in BB was Racheal's character.
A Batman film does not need a pointless love interest that adds nothing to the story.

Do you think TDK will just be given one anyway out of tradition?
Here's hoping not. If the title of the film is anything to go by this entry might be breaking w/ a few traditions.

All i have to say about this is . . . . word

I prefer not watching another Bat-ho enter the scene.

You're an idiot if you honestly think there won't be a love intrest in TDK.

Saying there was a love interest in Batman Begins is like saying there was one in Blade and Blade Trinity. There was no indication of an attraction between the two, Bruce and Rachel, in Begins, just that tacked on kiss at the end.

As for Eva Green being in Bond 22, just in a flash back or a video recording, she won't be back from the dead.

Now with Katie gone and this recast took place Im now a noromo for this franchise.

no disrespect darknight, but i cant remember a comicbook movie that didnt have a love interest story line.it 's always action, then it slows down, maybe more action and then the finale.daredevil, spiderman, superman returns etc. but having said that....see yall in 2008!
