I refuse to allow my six-year-old Godson to watch Batman and Robin because it is too dark.
I hope TDK isn't as dark.
.......for fear that it may be too cornyI wouldn't let my six-year-old godson watch Batman and Robin either, but not because it's too dark.![]()
While most of your violence speculation is SPOT on... some is a little "questionable" - we don't know Joker kills one of his henchmen in the bank robbery, but you missed several as well:
-A henchman is shot twice in the knees by a cop to get information
-5 swat members are tied together and tossed off a building
-A cop beaten and his outfit stolen
-The Fireing on the the mayor
Other possible violent scenes:
-Swat members shooting hostages who are forced to wear Clown masks
And the effigey is still a big debate, people on the set said it was one of the fake batmen just like the pictures indicate who had been killed and hung so that he hit the window just as Harvey in the interior said 6 Months Crime free... And Gordon investigates the body and finds its true idenity.. of course that came from people there at filming -- our conflicting information came from the call sheets saying it was an effigey...
This description and other elements make me think of V for Vendetta (especially the "Swat members shooting hostages who are forced to wear Clown masks" section) which was pretty violent and dark and disturbing but not too much don't you all think ?When did we learn that?![]()
oh yeah, that's right; the nipples on the bat suit. I don't think a 6 year old would pay that any mind though
is it just me or was joker never really "horror movie" scary? only comic ive seen him actually scary looking was in arkham assylum, but other then that, hes just a really lanky clown guy with a big grin. nothin really "scary". hes scary that hes a deadly clown, but thats it. im hearing all this stuff about heath ledger being ultra scary, ultra dark. darkness is fine, scariness, um, im sorry but i dont think i would look at joker and be scared. i would probably laugh at him actually. that is, until he pulled one of his big oversized guns out on me.

I've never seen a kid complain over the Batman movies. It's just that their parents think they're too impressionable, thus dividing the parents who shelter and don't parent from the ones who are willing to parent and expose their kids to some dark stuff every now and then.
It's not like Batman is going to rot their mind. The most that happens is a good scare in these films.
