I didn't see enough to be of much use. A tv station up here started airing the UWF just before they were bought out by Crockett (I'd say the last month/month and a half...in hindsight, the acquisition/merger was probably done by that point). My memories of the UWF are pretty vague overall. I just recall recognizing a lot of their wrestlers either from reading about them in Pro Wrestling Illustrated, or from having watched them in other territories. A lot of guys from World Class, a few from Crockett, a couple from the AWA, etc.
I do remember Jim Ross running down the card of an upcoming house show, and mentioning that Ric Flair was going to be there, defending the NWA World championship. If I recall correctly, he was going to be facing Dr. Death Steve Williams. As a kid, I always thought it was kinda cool whenever Flair showed up in another territory to defend his title.
As far as their roster (particularly guys I hadn't seen previously in other territories), of course Dr. Death stood out to me, as well as Sting, Eddie Gilbert and Terry Taylor. Dark Journey was managing the Missing Link at the time...I thought she was hot. A Black valet was unusual for any territory in those days.
As for the booking and angles/storylines, since I only saw less than two months of it, I didn't have enough time to get a grasp of how good or bad it was.
Was this during or after the time when Junkyard Dog and Ernie Ladd along with other viable top black talent were fixtures in the territory?
