Ok, I'm kinda the landlord of this house and a guy just BOLTED. What really angers me is that he was telling me lies the whole time -- that he was just away for work; that he'd be back later on that week. The whole time I think everything is just fine, and I put my entire paycheck down FOR him, figuring he would re-imburse me when he gets back.

He wasn't away working at all. He was setting up his new place somewhere else.

It's not that he moved on that bothers me. It's the level of selfishness and inconsideration he stooped to, to manipulate me, take advantage of a few more days here, and finally leave without one dime paid or one tear shed for my situation.

The dilemma. I want to take this guy to small claims court and get my rent and utilities.
So the question I pose is this:

If I know:
- His name is Lorin Howard (myspace: http://www.myspace.com/lh1440, if you're interested)
- He was born in 1966 or 1967
- He is probably in Payson, Az (when he told me he'd be back on Tuesday, he really just came back at 2AM to deflate his aerobed, take some clothes and bolt. In his haste, he dropped the layout and info for some apartment complex in Payson, Az.)
- Apparently he left to be with some girl named Anne. If that IS the apartment he's in now, it may be in her name.
- He has a daughter named Ashley Marie Howard and because of her criminal record, I have her date of birth.

How do I find this guy and take him to court? I don't have his DL; please don't lecture me about how I should have photocopied it in the first place. He was kind, he was Mormon, and I really didn't think I'd have any issues with him.

Sucks and you answered my insult on the last sentence. I have really no idea seeing as you have no information or proof he lived there. Did he sign a contract?

That's a bad situation to be in HV. Wish you luck.

We can barrage his myspace with insults if that would help? We are a family here.

All you can hope for right now is, since you have his myspace pretend to be a different person, & seduce him. Until he gives you his info.

Words of wisdom.

Every lesson in life has a price tag. Some are more expenseive than others.

Not trying to be mean, but unless you can prove he actually lived there, you're most likely going to end up losing the money.

I had something similar happen, me (landlord/owner of property) tenant left without notice. But I had a month down payment and the reason he left was pretty valid and I could've gotten into a heap of trouble if he did decide to report me.

There must be some sort of advocacy group or something in your area. Maybe something in the phonebook could help. Wish I could be of better help. Good luck.

Is really worth it to chase this guy down? If you haven't gotten paid, then he doesn't have the $$$,Sure you could go through he trouble, hire a lawyer and summon him to court, then the judge would tell him "pay your past due rent"! Just cause he has a court order to pay you back, doesn't mean he's going to. Guess what happens when someone doesn't pay someone even with a court order?..Nothing!

Do a background check or a credit check on him. It is a easy way to find him.

You know what I just thought about? I DID search public access court records, but I didn't search the county recorder.

....Argh, just did. Nothing. :(

I think your options vary from state to state. Consult a lawyer.

He is right the time you go thur everything you still have to pay.

damn this guy basicaly screwed you , what an *******. i hope you get your money.

Go over there and THREATEN the guy to give you back your money or you'll kill him!

If you can't do that, you can always hire Dog the Bounty Hunter (?).

Being sarcastic. /\

I have proof he lived here. He was receiving mail here.
And things like this are taken to small claims court all the time, guys. I do think I would get my money if I could just get his date of birth.

Why do you need his DOB?

We all can send a friend request and then one of us has to be accepted and we can get his DOB for you off of his myspace if you want. And then the barrage of insults.

I have pre-paid legal insurance. (Whaaat? I'm black!)
I understand that he may never pay anyway, in which case I'm willing to see what my options are. But I believe he will because the sheer idea of being sued in court lights a fire under people's asses, especially mild-mannered mormon boys like Lorin Howard.

That guy owes me $450.00, and I will have every cent if I can.

Why do you need his DOB?
If I have his date of birth, the state can send my summons to the matching driver's license number. You have to update your address with the Department of Motor Vehicles within 10 days of moving to a new location. (And believe you me, this state is very serious about that...)

Always the last person you'd suspect, huh? :woot:
I love the way his room was trashed with all sorts of Mormon religious media strewn; some Christian he is... Kinda reminds me of that old Halloween episode on the Simpsons where Ned turned out to be the Devil
