Were you able to create your ideal DC universe, what would it be like? Meaning, what stories would you keep? What stories would you ditch? What characterizations and power levels would you choose? I've *****ed about by opinions in regards to such matters incessantly for months. Now it's time for your voices to be heard. Mainly because, for the duration of this thread, I'm shutting up.

been waiting for this type of question

i'll expand later

The Question poses a question. interesting. lol

but anyway i recently got into the question, and i would give him a much bigger role in my DC realm. also batman is batMAN not god and i know he is getting better with OYL but i mean he needs to be the urban myth he is supposed to be. i would love to see more (specific) tales of his origin as well.

i would want superman without a kryptonite weakness because personally it seems like a big cop out for him. but i want his power levels weakened a bit to compensate for no longer having kryptonite. perhaps magic with a more devastating effect on Clark

uhhh yeah mental block but maybe more later

Firstly I'd bring Son of Bat into continuity.

I'd get rid of most if not all sidekicks.(this includes people like Batwoman who are more like cheap rip-offs of better characters) Ras' AL Gul would still be alive. All I can think of right now.

I think Grant Morrison heard you.

He's going to be taking over Batman soon with his story about Batman and his son.

Oh yeah, there's also going to be ninja Man-Bats. Freaking sweet.

for one, i'd kinda get rid of the legacy aspect. Only one version of each hero, excpet of the GL Corps. And the person behind each mantle would be the most popular, iconic version of the hero.

Also, things would be much more simplified.

I love the magic aspect of DC and would expand on that more. The Spectre would be all but untoucable with his host changing every couple of years, and his host would be heroes or villains that border on good that have more control over the Spectre than in the past.

Superman would stil be the number one hero but i would test moarls more. Something can break him and we would find out what that is.

The Teen Titains would take on a bigger role in trainning young heroes than in the past.

I agree with restoring the urban legend asspect of Batman. I would keep him pretty much the same because i feel we need a human champion that stands with all of the powerhouses in DC and can more than hold his own.

I would play more on Lex Luthor's humanitarian side like in Lex Luthor Man of Steel and he would be the undisputed villian in DC causing problems for everyone.

Very nice idea for a thread...I'd imagine this will get a lot of posts soon...it takes a lot of thinking and I will get back to you on that.

i'd make superman like how he was pre crisis. him getting alomst kille by emo prime is not cool.

Before I think about it more into detail and post my ideas just to give you the heads of I would change some stuff in Batman.

Given it some thought...typed some of it up on Notepad...so far this is what I would change in Batman.

-----------
Origins-
-----------
Jason Todd: I did not like how majority of Did Robin Tonight was written. But what bothered me the most was how it ended. Batman after stopping that lady and her "minions" was driving Jason home or something in his car and Jason asks if Batman was going to send him to some foster home or something. Batman is then says something like "No, that will not be needed Robin", then Jason is like "Robin?"...and Batman says "Robin"; then it ends.

-----------
Villains-
-----------
I would have more stories with the following villains because I think they do not get enough respect being in the Batman Rogues gallery. The following are villains I would have more stories and written better:

- Mad Hatter (Hello? Mind Control anyone? enough said)
- The Ventriloquist (Born into a Mafia family...enough said)
- Firefly (Arsonist...enough said)
- Hush (Gotham Knights pissed me off...enough said)
- Harley Quinn (Don't really see her enough)
- Clayface (Don't really see him as a key-villain anymore)

if i could create my ideal dc universe, jason todd would still be dead, jack drake would still be alive aaannnd cassandra cain would be like connor hawke instead of a 3rd rate jason todd with the most pathetic reason of going loco in the history of comics. krypto would be a founding member of the justice league ,he would be buddies with detective chimp in the same way bats and supes are buddies

tim drake would kick cyborg out of the titans and call it young justice, then go out and get totally wasted partying with ollie, roy, hal and dick

black canary would turn evil and kill the birds of prey because all womans is crazies and die because they have teh boobies

wonder woman would have a star spangled pet parrot with adamantium talons

hal jordan would go bald but wear a wig, kyle would go cry in a corner, john and guy would patrol the galaxy like something out of a 80s cop buddy movie ie. being the coolest dudes ever !!!!

also alan scott would turn evil and kill jay garrick because he hates jays hat

green arrow would become a professional wrestler but would be kicked out because he banged the bosses wife, daughter and the backstage crew

blue beetle would turn into a alien who is then kidnapped and made to fight on warworld

superboy prime would become friends with krypto, chimp and wonder parrot and become a true hero but then brainiac would then destroy the universe
and everyone lived happily ever after
the end.

Batman should have a better suit. Have it be made out of the DC equivalent of vibranium. the mask should always be lined with a psychic block. The gloves should be lined with something that enchances his punches if he needs to and keep his hands from braking when punches something real hard. It'd be cool if he was able to look however he wanted to too. Have it so it bends the light like predators. Maybe have it so the suit doesn't let characters superhuman sense here his heart beat or his pulse and have it have no sent.

Superman - Bring him back to basics, just a little. He won't be moving planets, but he'd be almost there. Really, the best characterization of Supes that I've ever seen comes from Hitman #3, or something like that. Sometimes, he doesn't have what it takes. Sometimes, he feels so weak..

Teen Titans - OYL has been an incalculable dissapointment to me, in the destruction of everything that I liked about Kid Devil. I probably wouldn't even have him as a Titan, but he's be back in the suit (as seen in YJ).
Offspring is the only person I'd want on the team who isn't already. And by Offspring, I mean Plastic Man's kid. I'd use the characterization of Offspring from The Kingdom, though; Serious and whatnot

Robin - Jason Todd is the Red Hood, but I'd change it up; He's roughly the same age (physically, at least) as he was when he died, and sets his sights more on Tim, more for symbolism than anything else. I'd also give Tim a more extensive rogues gallery. Firebug is the only one I can think of at the moment

Speedy - I cannot write about Speedy. I'll keep him the way he is, 'cept I'd call him "Speedy" again, since there was nothing wrong with that name.

Secret Six - I feel the use of the name "Secret Six" to be arbitrary; In the Original Six, there were only six, with Mockingbird being among them. Here, there are seven at any given time, as Mockingbird is a separate entity entirely. First, I'd follow up on the Fiddler's death. Isaac Bowen was cursed. As such, he cannot ascend to the ethereal plane, and choses to bug Deadshot about how he'll never be rid of him. Second... I have no second. Eh.

To be honest & no offense I'd ditch Oneil's Question, plus the shaman crap & bring him more to Ditko's version. Then I would want prime Frank Miller (not the current bad version) to write him.

On to more recent topics...

I would keep Byrne's continuity but have Superman have his Silver Age Intelligence, no jock career, and the Kents dead . Then I would like to read Mark Millar's take on that version.

I'd like Morrison to stay on Batman for three or 4 years.

I'd like to have PAD write Kara Zor EL and have the Matrix continuity acknowledged in some way.

I'd like a much better explanation for Jason Todd's death than what Winnick provided... I like Jason being alive... but it was such a weak explanation I'm still stunned.

I'd like to see writers be far more honest when appraising work.

I was reading an old Frank Miller interview where he stated he disliked the 1989 Batman movie but wasn't specific. I'd like to know what he didn't like?

I'd like writers debate on the characterization a bit more.

I also would bring Ra's Al Ghul back to life & form a villain organization to challenge the Society.

I think Luthor a capatalist vs Ra's an eco terrorist is a natural rivalry.

I'de end up having someone really important to the DCU die.

Lex Luthor.

Ironiclly, all that Krypton he's been ****ding for all these years is semi-radioactive. And he's dying from that.

I like the Spectre idea.

Batman:
* Bruce Wayne is the only Bat-anything, no more Batgirl, no more Batwoman, no more Batmite, no more f-cking Bathound!

* Back in Black! Batman costume is all black, no more boxer briefs on the outside of his pants.

* Prometheus get's a upgrade, he's the anti-Batman and the last great villian with so much potential for Bats.

* Retire Joker for a few years until the fans are in a fever pitch for his return.

* Tim Drake gains some size on him grows a bit from 5'8" to 5'11" in height and lose the boxers also.

* Call me crazy, but I'd give Nightwing superpowers most likely flight.

* Bruce and Selina hook up, a serious relationship. Not marriage, but I'd play this out for the long haul Bruce finally finding someone who will accept his lifes mission.

* Talia Al Ghoul becomes a major factor in Batman's life both as villian and mother of his child that he deosn't realize exsists..yet.

* A batmobile closer to the 'Batman Begins' look.

* Upgrade Batman's gadgets and arsenal, "why can't he have a light-weight totally bulletproof costume?" This is a guy who hangs around aliens, and guys like Steel and Mr.Terrific.

* Gordon back as commissioner.

^Gordon is back as Commishoner.

Only thing that jumps out at me right now: I'd render Birthright a stand alone storyline and bring back MoS as the official origin of Big Blue.:supes:

Oh I have another thing I would change about Batman stuff. Jason Todd came back as the Red Hood and all which was a great part IMO...but I think it would be cool to bring in Red X from the TT show and have Jason be Red X instead.
