Gambit having a bigger budget than Fantastic Four.

What a world we live in.

Ant-Man too. And Guardians of the Galaxy outgrosses Spider-man. It's a weird world. :o

I've always liked Gambit as a character, but I don't think he can carry a solo movie. Plus, I think a cabbage can act better than Tatum.

Anyway, let's get back to F4.

Tatum has proven himself as a serious actor in Foxcatcher, he's also great in 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, he's underestimated.

I'm really curious about the "3big action pieces" that Fox took out.

I hope one day, Trank reveals the "original" outline of the film.

They deleted a lot of stuff from the film.

I really think one of them may have been Doombots. There was some insider buzz about drone-like Doombots being in the film around that time.

His performance in Gambit is probably gonna be more in line with Jupiter Ascending and White House Down though.

X-Men 2 lost major set-pieces before filming that caused major re-writes. No one whined and complained about them.

The Danger Room scene we all wanted? It was written and story-boarded out. It's even in the comic adaptations. It didn't make it into the film. So instead? They wrote in that scene with Iceman and Wolverine, and the writers made the most of it, and it's actually a decent character scene.

Another scene that got lost? Toad vs. Nightcrawler. Toad was supposed to fight Nightcrawler at Stryker's base. I believe the set was even built for this sequence! It got lost too. No Ray Park as Toad in the film :( .

The point is, this happens all the time in the process of making big budget studio films. Even with what we lost for X-Men 2, Singer still stuck it out and made a great movie.

I've seen today a screencap from 4Chan with supposedly Josh Trank (lol, when there was already that fake account a few months ago) explaining yesterday all the stuff that's been cut.

Let's hope the real Trank does say, not like it matters now, he's already burned himself.

@TheVileOne: We're talking about 3 SET PIECES, not one, 3 cut DAYS before production, it doesn't matter that it's happened before, Singer is a seasoned director, it's not even comparable even in that way. If we're to believe what EW said as well, if sets were being built and stuff like that and it wasn't really clear where things were going, this adds to the gigantic mess.

Is Gambit's script even ready yet? It does seem weird how they're throwing money at it.

Some movies are better off with smaller budgets, more contained stories. Just look at Dredd, one of my favorite action movies from the last few years. I really hope they're not going for some Michael Bay crap here.

The script is ready.

Though I do think Fox is quite generous with the budget, a Rogue appearance perhaps?

So are the actors done promoting this? Otherwise things are probably going to get incredibly awkward for them.

No one whined because that movie turned to be good. Different case here.

I'm just saying, like the Collider guys act like Fox did a major tragedy against Trank by pulling the sequences, when other projects had similar things happen and made due. It wasn't a scandal or a major talking point.

if FOX seriously cut action set pieces to make it for a smaller budget and then came in to reshoot the film when Trank couldn't work with what FOX gave him then it's really stupid. Might as well have given Trank the required budget in the first place. Would have probably ended up costing the same.

Yeah it's great, part 4 is coming soon, curious to see if he talks about the problems a little, but he probably won't. He certainly doesn't strike me as the guy the media has been depicted him to be.

Trank isn't going back every week tho. That interview was all in one day and KS is just releasing it in 4 parts on purpose. His take on the film sounds good in that interview tho.

Not what I recall. From what I recall, fans *****ed to high heaven when they found out about them. There were also planned cameos for Gambit, Sentinels, and a scene involving (Arch)Angel meeting Cyclops at one point or other.

Bryan Singer, Dougherty, Harris and David Hayter didn't. Tom DeSanto didn't. The people that mattered didn't.

So the script is done, okay. Thanks for the answers.

Yeah I know, but it was still done recently.

I am of the mindset that studios should ignore fan griping 90% of the time.
