Because, honestly, I kind of like it.

It's true to the basic design elements of the comics costumes while also looking super practical for going on science adventures.

I'd actually be thrilled if the actual costumes look that good.

I think it's a nice, practical update that maintains the classic colors and visual clues. I'm afraid what we'll get won't look as good.
