I Would...But I Know Where The Wrestling Thread Has Been

Well, I just heard that Smackdown may have some cable competion on Friday Nights with the Ultimate Fighter

Oh Bret.

I love how the making up between him and Shawn is always put over by him as his grand gesture and him doing such a great thing for Shawn.

Then he thinks his match with Vince was perfect? It went on waaaaaayyyyy too long.

Then the stuff with Austin, yes Bret you got the wins in worked matches over Austin, but when you do a list like that things other than the predetermined results matter.

It's sad how little humour or humility he has, ironically the total opposite of Austin. Many have said he struggles to separate reality and the business and I think he confirms it in nearly every interview.

The Millennium Man! The Master and Ruler of The World!

Fitting choice as him and Lord Humongous were about the same level when it came to promos! :D

You mean the ones where Andre gains an extra 100 pounds every time? :cwink:

Andre will be as big as a skyscraper in the minds of new fans if Hogan keeps telling this story all the way up to his time to take the big dirt nap.

I agree with a lot of what Bret says, but I think his ego is showing in his statement about the top 50 stars list. Don't get me wrong, a lot of that list was bs, and Bret was better in ring, but just because he beat Austin in their matches doesn't mean he's the bigger star. I don't see how anyone can claim Bret meant more to the WWE or was a bigger star or draw than Austin.

I swear Bret is such a mark sometimes. He sounds so ridiculous talking about how many times he beat Austin.

I think Bret just takes it TOO seriously sometime. And I noticed that about his discussion of Michaels too. Bret talks like he cured Shawn Michaels of cancer AND absolved him of all his sins! Shawn MUST be indebted to him for life now :hehe:

Pretty sure that unlike Sid Humongous always knew the difference between live and taped promos! :funny:

The Outlaws told one of the funniest stories I've ever heard about Bret. Road Dogg said that one time Bret heard about Road Dogg saying Shawn Michaels was better than him and Bret took it WAAYYYY to seriously and asked him about it.

Its like this big beef Hart and Flair have with each other. Its the funniest rivalry ever because they are both up their own a**es. At least with Flair I don't think he takes it that serious though. don't think Flair could give a flip about wins and losses.

are they still doing the anonymous RAW GM thing, now that Triple H has an onscreen presence as the COO?

It finally died a death so quiet that half this thread and most of the WWE universe have yet to notice.
For some reason they still have the laptop setup every week on Raw though. Makes me wonder if they'll do something with it again later on or if someone forgot to tell the guys who set up the ringside area that they don't need to keep setting that up anymore.

I'm not shocked Bret thinks that way considering the way he grew up. To him, this stuff was real, and his father was a god. Considering he's the only surviving Hart kid to actually be successful, he might feel the need to "be the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be" as a way to preserve his father and family's legacy.

I miss the days when a WWE employee could call himself a wrestler and walk down that ramp with pride, get in the ring, look his opponent in the eyes and say ''Look we COULD have a wrestling match...........OR we could go in the back and party with these ho's that I brought out with me. To be honest, you're screwed either way."

I always enjoyed it when the Godfather would offer a guy hos. I think he even offered Dean Malenko some one time.

Then Victoria ended up leading the "Save the hos" campaign. Heh.

If the Godfather had been around when Batista was around, Big Dave would have stolen the hos.

They just randomly dropped it. A year of dealing with that nonsense and no payoff. good one... wwe.

I'm glad it's gone......

the only payoff would have been if they revealed someone big like Bret or Austin being the GM the whole time.......

or if Cole came out and revealed himself to be the GM during his feud with King.......y'know......to only make himself look more *****ey than he already did.........:oldrazz:

The whole angle was terrible because the GM was never consistent. Anybody revealed to be the GM that would have been popular just wouldn't have fit. Cole may have fit but...Cole sucks.

Eh , they probably just forgot about it. It's still not to late to drop it though. The Raw GM situation has been a mess for years. I remember Shawn Michaels was GM and only showed up once in a while. They could just have Triple H mention it at some point.

You mean GM or when he was Commissioner (more or less the same damn thing :hehe:)?

Bret is like this guy in many ways.

:lmao:

Yeah but a GM usually just appears on one brand.

Yeah it makes sense cut I think it's funny how the structure of it doesn't seem to have a clear time line.

Bret always gets asked the same questions. I guess there's no much you can do to help that but it seems redundant.

I still laugh every time I see/hear Shawn call Nicole Bass "mister"...good times that 1999...:yay:

Back when they started calling the authority figure "commissioner" it seemed like just a random word they picked because it implied authority.

"General Manager" on the other hand kind of made sense when they introduced it. They began when Vince first got full ownership back from Flair, and he needed someone on each brand to run the daily operations of the shows. Since they were still acting as if the brands were totally separate and in competition with each other, it made sense for him to appoint a "GM" to be in charge of each show while he oversaw the company as a whole.

Del Rio and Bryan stole the show on Smackdown. Great match.

And, Bryan seemed over with that audience.

It's impressive that he can get over with pure wrestling skill alone.

Bryan can do promo work, he just hasn't had that storyline yet to really shine.

Look back at NXT, when Bryan confronted Cole, and how intense that was.

I like both, but with the brand split General Manager does make sense. With a commissioner you get the feeling that there can only be one, but there can be as many GMs as there are shows. It's a better fit in my eyes.

hmmm...I like aspects of the Ulitmate Fighter, but when they are all in the house they turn into a bunch of whiny little girls
