I Would...But I Know Where The Wrestling Thread Has Been

I actually got to play WWE '12 at an Xbox press event yesterday. I have to say, I was really impressed.

I felt like I had the hang of the basic controls in only one match--something I couldn't say for the last Smackdown vs. Raw game I played. The game feels like a mix of the SvR controls and the oldschool, N64-era controls. You tap A to grapple up, then hit a direction on the right stick to perform a move.

I played as CM Punk and put down the THQ guy I was playing (though I figure he may have been going easy on me, haha).

Reverals are easier (one button to reverse either grapples or strikes) and there's a comfortable number of context-sensitive prompts to keep you informed as to what your options are.

I also have to point out that the new pinning mechanic is cool--rather than mashing buttons aimlessly when pinned, pinning works like active-reloading in Gears of War. You press the button while in the blue zone to kick out--and the blue zone gets smaller and smaller depending on how good a beating you've taken.

The animations are a lot smoother and more natural, and the matches play a lot faster with less time spent on the mat. All things considered, if I can sit down and have a fun match with a wrestling game I've never played before, I think they've got something good on their hands. The learning curve is much easier.

Lucky,It's sounding great!!

What is with the friggin porn horn always firing up when Aksana walks into a room. Sheesh.

It's like her sexy version of the Imperial March. Or less sexy, depending on your views on John Williams.

I missed most of that match between Kidd and Gabriel. Was it pretty good?

He's a very good wrestler, but Daniel Bryan has a boring character. He would really benefit from a manager.

how dare you!!! how dare you, good sir.....you dare speak against the great Daniel Bryan in this thread...and have the temerity, nay the audacity, nay the impunity to suggest he do anything ANYTHING different

for shame......for shame

:o

I'm tired happy smiling Bryan. I wanna see him get angry and just make people tap like little *****es.

I'm hoping they have Regal turn face&manage him,I'd prefer IF Arn came in to do that But it makes sense for Regal since he trained him&has history..Plus wrestles sometimes and so the story could be that DB reminds him of a young Regal or something like that!!!

he wasn't all that happy before the match....he's getting a little more intense

I wouldn't even say he needs a manager, they just need to let him have longer matches. He can get himself over with ring work alone. It just that every time he does get the fans attention with his matches they quickly give him a loss.

Cole constantly crapping on him doesn't help either. Cole can be a heel and dislike Bryan without directly pointing out his faults and downplaying his strengths.

you are giving the WWE audience way too much credit

They should book him like WCW booked Dean Malenko early on. A submission specialist who can make a guy tap at any moment.

It's a matter of him having enough time. Those 5 or 10 min matches aren't going to do it.

and respectfully, you're a ****** if you think the WWE is going to give him 15 + minutes every week on SmackDown or that the WWE audience is going to sit still for that

Vince has trained the audience....on everything from what makes a superstar to match length and so on

I loved seeing Nattie knock the hell out of Fox. She's exactly the kind of Diva beth and Natalya are sick of.

If Booker (kayfabe) taught Alicia Fox the scissor kick he needs to teach her again cause she still doesn't do it right.

Gotta love WWE's anti Bullying campaign when we have the babyface Jerry Lawler calling Vickie fat every week. :o

that BE A WUSS campaign is a joke....like the way No Child Left Behind is a joke....
