Hey guys, i got some possibly great news! I think this deserves it's own topic as it would have gotten lost in the AICN review topic. So we are mostly all familiar with the "iceman" scene that was in the intro of the leaked script. It was also in the novel and movie adaptation comic. When those two reviews came out, quite a few of us got scared as it made no mention of the scene, but instead the film starting off with:
The Blackout scene
Well i decided to go and ask Roberto Orci himself on the official forum about this review and that particular scene having possibly been cut. To my lucky suprise i got an answer and not only that, he does give a little more info on its status. So here it is:

I had the same username and mentioned your good work on The Island and M:I:3. I have a question concerning a scene in the TF movie. Now i know you dont discuss such but it's a scene that was mentioned in the movie comic adaptation, Novel and leaked script. Now with all due respect i have not read either or these three, I do know there was supposed to be a scene at the start of the movie that was during a icy setting. There have been two reviews out for the movie and both dont mention the scene, it's said to start of with the Blackout sequence. There was also a behind the scenes video of Michael Bay filming a maquette version of it. Now im really hoping this is not true and that the reviews are fake as that would make such a classy and epic scene to see. It would add a lot to the movie, not to mention be amazing to see on the big screen. Is there anything you can possibly say to either confirm or deny it has been removed? I could link you to the review if you would like. Here's also an image of the movie adaptation version : http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/attac...2&d=1180758164

Please if you could get back to me on this i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much for your time!

The scene in question still exists, but we moved it structurally.

So there you have it! Good news? :wow: :yay::trans:

When the first comments about the absense of that scene arose i theorised in my head (Not online) that maybe they had moved that sequence....

Into the sequence where Spike shows off the stuff in school. Maybe what they've done is we hear Spikie telling his classmates about his grandfather in a voice over to the footage of this scene.

That kinda makes sense to me as they would have been telling us twice at the start of the movie about Spikes grandfather and the 'Ice man'.

Thats my thoughts anyway

I was hoping they moved it but was prepared rather to be dissapointed. Im so glad it's still in, at least thats what he's saying right? I didn't read the spoiler you posted though, if its in the movie, i still want to be somewhat suprised.

YES!!!! PLEASE GOD LET THERE BE ICE MAN!!!!

This is what I guessed when the first review came out.

It's in there. Sigh of relief.

Cool. I've been looking forward to that scene. Hopefully it's not composed of 300 one second shots. :ninja:

By far my favorite scene, on paper, in the movie by far. But why move it? It sets up the entire movie. I'm glad it's still there but showing it as a flashback just won't make the movie flow as well as seeing a frozen Megatron, screaming incased in ice. Beisides if it is shown as a flashback, unless the party (Spike or his dad) were actually there, how the hell would they know there was a giant robot frozen in the ice to inlude it in their story..?

And yeah Spark, i hope it's not all choppy either like how they did the Dracula flashback, as Hannibal King told his story in Blade 3. Where we get quick flashes of it. That looked terrible.

That scene (on paper) delievered a huge impact on me! So glad that it's in the actual film as well! Had it been cut I would've screamed my ****ing head off!!! DUMB IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......... but I'm glad to hear that it's not cut.

MM, you should ask him if the classic TF sound is in there too.....

That's been in reviews as well, I'm pretty sure about it being the classic TF transforming sound.

Just found a few new images on the EBAY Transformer page. One of which is this....

Dude, there's Archibald Witwicky!!! :woot:

And here's another pic Dr. Lee found of Sam giving the presentation about his great great grandfather:

Which may have been mixed with the "Ice Man" scene.

Awesome. I really hoped it was still in there, but I also wish it was still the opening scene. But I guess Bay wanted his BOOM! ACTION! intro scene with Blackout. But still, glad they kept the scene.

Yeah, i'd still prefer it to be the opening scene too, but hey. All i hope for is that we don't get Shia's voice-over, over the entire scene if it is the events that he tells during that presentation.....
