So, I'm taking a little break from the Hype to write a couple of screenplays, and I was wondering...what would be good for a TV series?

I've always wanted to write a pilot for something, but I can never come up with an original idea...so I'm turning to you folks here...what do YOU want to see on TV? I'll take any ideas for a pilot...

How about something that takes place during a war. You could follow a list of characters from when they start in basic training, then they go to war or something.

If I give you an idea will I get paided and full creit for the idea. Sense you don't seem to have an origianl bone in your body.

I have a book idea where everyone dies except hype members then love comedy and chaos ensues! You can write my screenplay we'll be like little house on the prairie!

Here's an idea that'll never be used...

A highly advanced alien race with no conception of drama whatsoever enters our solar system, sometime in the early 1900's, and sets up shop on Mars. A warrior race who bases their entire system of government on gladiatorial contests, they immediately begin spying on Earth's radio/tv frequencies.

Sadly, the first broadcast they recieve from Earth is a pro-wrestling match.

The invasion is immediately cut short sometime during the 80's, when the aliens realize Earth has an army of muscular, spandex-clad warriors protecting it. Men who can be beaten bloody, be slammed to the ground, and rise up afterwards unaffected, only to claim victory over their evil opponents.

The series would focus on a few no-name wrestlers, chosen to protect Earth from an alien invasion.

Their opponents would be an alien invasion team, who are pretty respectful, if not outright scared ****less of the wrestlers themselves.

...

I'm weird on anti-flu drugs right now. Sue me.

Wow...I had no idea this was such a joke to you people.

I'm just asking for opinions here...not criticism...

I'd love to, yet...then, my show would be un-original.

But just keep throwing ideas at me...

Most shows aren't original, you have to take something familiar but put your own twist or tweak on it to make it seem interesting. The real time format has only been explored by two other shows, both were comedies and then shows that may have done one episode where its in real time. So you could do a real time format, it would be measured by 24 but that would be the challenge to create a show that uses real time and then stands on its own. Your best bet is to get on to a writing staff, work on a couple shows and then write your pilot.

Thats what I have planned all along, but right now I'm simply scouting for ideas for a show/pilot...and I guess I thought that some actual fans of actual shows might be able to help and give their opinion, but I guess that was too hard...

...still though, I'll take some ideas :woot:.

It's absolutely fantastic what you gave me, jut not what I'm looking for.

You'd do great with that material though, if YOU wrote it.

All I'm looking for is a simple outline for a show, like a sentence or two. Just an 'idea'.

Write what you know and see if that fits with what is popular on television. Everyone here sees it kinda like a kid coming online and saying "do my homework" - if you can't come up with an idea how are you supposed to map out a second episode or a entire season?

I see what you're saying about the whole "kid asking Hype members to do his homework" thing, but thats never what I intended..NEVER.

I was just asking the actual fans, but thanks anyways.

I got one, kind of like Doom though, or Resident evil, but about these scientists working in a space station, and they create some living things. They are tiny at first, but one day, when the scientists come back from lunch brake or something, the organisms are gone. They have mutated into massive, alien things.

Got many, but not sharing. And bet many on here- serious about the industry- wouldn't lend their tips of the trade either on story ideas. Because that would be considered plagerism, of sorts- on your part. We don't want our ideas stolen.

Just:

1. Think about the type of show you're interested in.
2. Come up with an interesting plot OR source material (comic or book)
3. Think about characters that are new and fresh.
4. Think about a story to put those characters into.
5. Write alot of drafts for the Pilot episode.

For example:

1. Smallville. Young Clark Kent.
2. Spider-Man comic book series.
3. Etc. Not giving away the small details- cause, that's what counts!

There ALOT of other ideas I have- but, they're MY ideas.

I give you my idea, but as I'm already in pre-production for it at the moment, I don't think I wanna hand it over to someone else, lol

That actually sounds better for a film...

..but I think I've got my idea...I've actually been wanting to turn it into a film rather than a TV series, but the story could go on for a long time, it's about a man in a 19 year coma trying to battle off Death in his head while his family and friends struggle with the possibility of Death outside of his head.

Thats the simplest way I can put it, and it's simply called Coma right now. I've actually got 10 pages of the screenplay already written, but it could be turned into a teleplay really easy. I'll think about it...but my guess is that it would work best as a film.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It helps a lot.

i would love to watch a fantasy show...kinda a mix of the matrix/LOTR/Harry Potter/Zelda ...if that makes any sense...

Yeah, it makes sense...but in order to have a "good" show (so the critics say) you have to have something that will appeal to everyone, which is completely untrue.

Critics really piss me off...
