Ideas for the new costume in the Batman reboot

Shame they didn't use that suit. It looks great. I agree with you, the costume designer should take some inspiration from that design.

Greg Capullo in The Court Of Owls storyline, draws the Batsuit like the new 52 costume, but it's fabric, like that Cap America costume, not armoured that Jim Lee did.

I want to see a slightly darker version of the Earth One costume without the extra circle around the oval.

Why are some people so obsessed with the suit's need to be able to function in reality?

I'm not, I just think it would look good. I've always wanted the B:TAS suit but that is unlikely.

I just hope they go grey/black in its next iteration.

I think it'd be cool to lampshade the flexibility issue, like give Batman a villain/origin that requires some dexterity to deal with, so that he sheds his initial SWAT/Riot Gear get up and goes with a very sleek stylized suit and cowl.

I just want the suit that conveys the presense of Batman...and in order to do that you need slightly longer ears and most importantly a cape that can drape more easily over the shoulders

This looks a lot like the new 52 costume.

They should go for something like that next time.
I like that but its shiney. I would like to see a really thinned down version of this with a grey cloth over it.

So if Batman gets shot we can see the damaged grey suit with the black under it.

In terms of color I badly want black and grey.

Whatever it is, I just hope its not rubber. It would be so cool to see a Batsuit that doesn't look like all of the previous suits we've seen on film.

I know this may seem needless for some but I actually hope they implement a bit of CGI when it comes to Batman's neck. They can cover the actor playing Batman with a mocap fabric (neck area) and create that flexible neck through CG they've long been perplexed about without sacrificing the one piece cowl aspect of the neck area.

I hope that made some sense. So it would basically look like both the Begins and Arkham City neck but have the actual flexibility of the Arkham series one.

What I found a real shame in Nolan's franchise, is that TDK came second. He designed the costume to resemble a medieval knight costume, it had armour plating and something that looks like chainmail?

The opportunity was there to turn it grey! It would have been a really cool and realistic thing to pull off.

I forget who brung it up. But grey/black and dark blue, not black, are the best forms of urban camo used by soldiers, so that is a solid reason why Batman would wear those colors.

TDK costume also resembled Raiden's Skull Suit from MGS 2

I would personally base Batman's costume more on Snake's sneaking suit if anything.

Yes, and yes.

I think it would be cool to see the cowl and neck done as a latex appliance. It would be flexible and tight to the skin while allowing a structured look.

And one I did a few years back, the gray spandex would be stretched over the rubber padded armor:

His reasoning could be, as I think it is in the comics sometimes, that he wants to appear inhuman like a superhero or a demon or something. Instead of a man in armor. But they did have him have armor under his costume in some comics.

I guess the look of his next costume will go with the tone, Nolan's was that Batman was a more realistic character so his armor look went with that. So my idea would be for a more comic version, a Bruce Timm Batman the animated series brought to live action in a movie. He would fight a Joker created by acid, a Ras al Ghul who has lived for centuries because of the Pits, a Two-Face with a split personality, a Bane who uses steroids to grow bigger, a Mr. Freeze, a Poison Ivy, a Clayface, a Killer Croc, a Man Bat, etc. This Batman would be an almost expert at many things like science, martial arts, and knowing all his limits (like how long he can hold his breath). He would have contingency plans for taking down all his friends if it came to it. He could have a Robin/Nightwing, Batgirl, etc. His story would be more comic book and a little less realistic, lighter in tone so that adults and kids could enjoy it. He could eventually join the JLA. So his costume would be more in line with all this.

I'm telling you, using the Cap suit as inspiration is the way to go. Gives a similar shape as BTAS and the Finger/Kane and Sprang eras.

That actually might be even better. Using the material they did for the Engineer in Prometheus would work well. It was very flexible to the point it was almost convincing it was actual skin and muscle.

The mask is a bit off, but it sure does look creepy as hell!

I've never been a fan of that cowl. The ears are WAYYYY to big, and I'm not a fan of the facial features on it, too. The suit looks great, though.

If they really want to switch it up they should go with the Justice Lords look. It is a reboot after all.

Why would they make a reboot? Shouldn't they wait a while...like a long while. I mean, we had 6 or 7 Batman films. Give him a rest. Let Superman take the spotlight for a change.

I love to see this version of the Batsuit in live action someday.

Yeah, the mask isn't all that good. But the costume does look like it could carry over in live action. Also I like how that belt kind of casts a shadow on the crotch area. Something like that could relay well if they don't go with the trunks.
