IDW Transformers Thread

Bah, I'm going back to my previous opinion: I haven't read the BW Sourcebook and I don't buy the toys, so for me the only G1'ers still around in the BW era are Starscream, Ravage, and Grimlock. Ignorance will certainly be bliss for me.

Not that I want to destroy your bliss, but if you look at issue two of the Ascending, you'll see Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt.

But there's nothing in the issues themselves to indicate they're the Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt. So they're not, as far as I'm concerned. :)

And we feel the need to place blame somewhere?

Again, let's note that I didn't place any blame, really.

But if we want to, then by all means, yes, it's Furman's fault. He decided to bring in the Japanese characters and try to tie the mythos of both series together. And in doing so, he tried to convert some names that the American audiences would know and be familiar with.

Not the best moves, but then, more weight on the side of not converging the series and just forgetting that the Japanese Beast Wars even exist.

I do feel the need to place blame.I wish [since he wanted to bring in the Japan BW'scharacters] that he would have chosen to right a compleatly new story to incorparate them into insetad of taking so much from the Japans BW's.About the only things I liked about their shows were the to and character designs. The plots of the stories really sucked. And now Furman has brought that suckege to his Beast Wars.

Was there a G1 'bot named Silverbolt?

Yes he was the leader of the Airelbots.

Not yet anyway......but since the source book has made the claim I'm guessing its only a matter of time before it gets to the new BW's comic....most likly in issue 3 or 4.

Yeah, the Wreckers were cool. I want to see more of Kup, too. I hope he snaps out of it and returns to the cool, old-school badass he was in the movie.

Yeah. Furman's at his top game in the G1 comics, easily.

And it's great how he keeps weaving stuff in, from the Spotlights and such.

Seriously, I think Grimlock and the Dynobots are going to come in to beat Sixshot. Who else is there, Autobot-wise? Ultra Magnus? Unless Prime calls in the Wreckers to fight him off, but that seems a little bit overkill, and I don't think he'd condemn Earth to an all-out war like that.

And I'm wondering how the whole thing with Soundwave is going to play out.

I agree, his take on the new G1 inspired stories have been great.A good exsample of taking the old and making it new and still keeping with the heart of the original.I just wish he would have done the same with his Beast Wars books.

I just read the 2 issues of IDW's Beast Wars source book and I'm a bit upset. Not as upset as El Bastardo might get if what I read makes it to "Ascending" but according to the profiles of both Big Convoy and Lio Convoy they are both carring a Matrix. This pisses me of cause Primal never carried one witch puts these guys higher in the Maximal ranks then Primal.:o
I like these characters but no where near as much as I like Primal.

Did we ever find out what became of Earth and any humans in the Beast Machines, or even Beast wars, era?

Are you referring to the era that the Beast Wars characters came from or the one that they faught the Beast Wars in????????

Uh... the Earth in Beast Wars was the same Earth in the original 80s cartoon. Thus... the ape-things that DInobot died saving eventually evolved into humanity, which then joined forces with the Autobots when they awakened, etc., etc.

I thought it was obvious that I was talking about the earth from before they time traveled and after they came back (ie: centuries after the Great War, when the Maximals and Predacons ruled Cybertron. Also take note that I mentioned Beast Machines as well, which should've been a big clue as to what I was referring to), but I guess it wasn't so obvious after all. :o

How the **** are Lio Convoy and Big Convoy both carrying the Matrix? Furman's determined to **** everything up in the BW era, isn't he? :o

Well, I guess in the mind of someone who knows exactly what they're asking, it would be obvious. That said, you have to drop some clues as to what you're referring to.

You asked about the Earth from Beast Wars. That was a prehistoric Earth. We saw no futuristic Earth in Beast Wars. Thus, the Earth in Beast Wars was, again, a prehistoric Earth, the dawn of mankind. Now, had you asked about an Earth after the Great War, or the Earth at the time the Axalon and Darkside (I looked up Megatron's ship name, woot) went through the time slip, as opposed to the Earth from Beast Wars, well, yes, I suppose that would have been more obvious. And mentioning Beast Machines doesn't technically assist your case, since Beast Machines was a continuation of Beast Wars, and since no Earth was shown, one would reference back to the Earth in Beast Wars. :D

That said, to your clarified question: who knows? We never got a glimpse at a futuristic Earth. Considering the Autobots won, and eventually went back to Cybertron, Earth probably came out just fine and went on living.
