The Dark Knight Rises IESB: Script is IN!

But TDK had so many loose ends, people may have to watch it in order to understand 3.

What loose ends? Batman is on the run from the cops, and...? Everything else was resolved. You won't need to have seen film 2 in order to see film 3, put money on it.

I'd argue a fractured story line is perfect for Batman, especially these Batman films, all those awesome characters each with their own story culminating in some big finale. You couldn't do that with a Superman or Spider-Man film, but Batman, if ever a character was suited to that form of story telling it's him. You can still create suspense and twists using non-linear story telling, hell, Nolan has already shown that.
I agree, if any superhero story lends itself to multiple, interweaving storylines, it's Batman. Especially with the "crime epic" direction Nolan's series has gone in.

Subjective much? It could work with any superhero.

There were loose ends. Who are the people Harvey killed?
What will Ramirez do?
What will happen to Reese?

Those issues should be addressed.

The reason why Batman is on the run from the cops is what complicates things. He and the Gordon family are involved in covering up the fact that Harvey Dent--a popular, duly elected city official--became Two-Face and killed a bunch of people. There are only a few other people who know the truth, including Helen Ramirez and the Joker.

I don't think Batman can just defeat some new villain to save the day again and automatically win back the public. Murder is a pretty tough charge to forgive. For that reason, I think the truth about Harvey has to come out, and I think the Joker should be a part of that theme.

You mean like where are all the inmates in Arkham? What happened to Flass afterwards? What happened to William Earle? These are the type of questions you can kinda fill in yourself.

You don't have to see film 1 to see film 2, this isn't Harry potter, people that never saw BB saw TDK, and thought it was awesome.

You can almost assume what happens in all loose ends, but after watching TDK, the joker was supposed to be the main villain in B3, just by the way it left off.

But a I do believe a linear story line should
take place. Event to event actually suits nolans style, maybe flashbacks and whatnot, but I would much rather have it follow the direction the movies have already been going.

Hello everyone. Just quietly subscribing to this thread, having been away for a long time. Don't mind me.

The third movie may not end with Batman winning back the public. Perhaps he'll always be hunted by the police.

That's absolutely true.

I suppose I'm just assuming that Nolan will end on a high note and pass off a franchise where a publicly-appreciated Batman is the status quo. I guess that maybe the idea of the cops hunting Batman could sustain multiple movies. Personally, I'd rather see a redemption story, though.

Since when have the police liked Batman anyway?

Hey regwec good to see ya around again. I too was gone from the bat boards for a time. But it seems I will slowly be here more and more.

He's always had an at-best mixed reception from the police. Sometimes it seems that only Gordon is really on his side.

He was haunted by the police in a lot of cartoon/comics, but always had support from Gordon. That is what made him the good cop.

looks like the bat boards will once again be my primary hype home.

As regards TDK loose ends, I think we have a good idea who Harvey killed. Another thread explains pretty well that the other cop was probably the one the Joker killed at the hospital, but Gordon wouldn't know that. That Ramirez knows about Harvey is a great point. It seems like she either needs to become a important player in the next film, or get killed off early.

About Gordon being one of the few cops in Batman lore that always supported Batman, there was also Chief O'Hara...:woot:

News of the Batman #3 movie has surfaced and contains some interesting information (rumored for now).

1. The plot should be outlined in time for the screenwriting to begin in February.

2. The Riddler is the primary villain and he figures out Batman's identity.

3. Arkham Asylum will figure prominently in the story.

4. Several classic villains will cameo, including the Penguin and Mr. Freeze (though as Dr. Fries, not as the supervillain).

5. Barbara Gordon will have a featured role.

6. Commissioner Gordon will mention Metropolis and possibly Lex Luthor.

7. Dick Grayson may be in the movie (though probably not as Robin).

Exactly, plus who in the hell actually gives a damn about Reese. :hehe:

How ya been regwec?

It's been so long I thought you just stopped coming to the hype altogether.

damn I hate being late for good news. but still, this is awesome. I hope the story is as compelling as TDK, and knowing Jonah I think it will be. INWT!!

Solidus!!! good to see you again my friend! Time for a re-team already? haha :hoboj:

Earle,Flass and the inmates are irrelevant.

Reese and Ramirez know too much and I put money on their knowledge becoming The Riddler's.

They are too good and vital to leave out.

and good to see you again too regwec..now we just need the virals to start back up so we can rule these boards again..wow 3 years already...feels like a high school reunion haha

been too long, man..too long indeed

wait, where the hell is Carnotaur?
