The Dark Knight Rises IESB: Script is IN!

Interesting days ahead.

When was the first draft of the script for TDK completed?
From Jonah's interview with Creative Screenwriting Magazine, he says he was done with TDK's first draft at the end of 2005. Chris and David Goyer actually went off and worked on TDK's story pretty much right after BB came out. :funny: And of course Chris shot The Prestige afterwards so that's why there was such a long development time on the script.

Damn, that blows away my timeline theory.

Am I the only one NOT happy about this?

It was just announced a day or two ago that Jonah was working on the script. Now it's suddenly done? That was awful fast.

Where's Chris? Wasn't he supposed to help out with the writing after Inception? So the whole script was done by Jonah? In just a few short weeks?

This seems like a rush job. This news has me very worried.

I'm certain Chris has been involved with the script, no need to panic.

You know there are more stages of script writing than not done and done right?

Again, from the Creative Screenwriting interview with Jonah, he said Chris and David punched out TDK's story in a month, then he went off for 2-3 months to do the first draft, which was done at the end of 2005. They spent the next year (presumably when Chris wasn't directly working on The Prestige) bouncing drafts back and forth.

Just because Jonah has a first draft finished doesn't mean they're going to shoot it next month, you know.

What Anita said. Plus, nor does it mean he only just started writing it a few days ago, when the leaked announcement was released.

You assume that the "announcement" a few days ago was in real time with Jonah's work on it. He's probably been secretly working on it for a while, as in months. They've kept this stuff under wraps quite well until now. It's sort of a domino effect. One leak occurs and then the information begins flowing big time from various sources.

The only thing I wish to know about the script is who is or are the villians Batman will face. That would be good enough for me.

Im sure they will release the juicy details when Marvel releases Spidey reboot details...
Just to go toe to toe with em

Once Heath Ledger was announced as the new Joker for TDK I did all I could to avoid the boards' spoilers. I'll do the same once I get to know who the villian(s) will be and who's playing them.

PLEASE no robin...PLEASE

but good news anyway! (:

This is no surprise to me at all. And for all of you who are out there saying "WB needed to pull their heads out of their a**es" need to realize that everyday- those execs are doing things to get these films ready to go. There is a TON of prep work, meetings and scheduling plans. There was NO WAY that Nolan wasnt talking to Goyer and Jonah about ideas for BB3 the entire time he was working on Inception. Nolan LOVES his batman franchise and i am sure he will do wonders with his Superman franchise as well. Just becuase us nerds dont hear the details on a daily basis doesnt mean the BB3 train hasnt left the station months or even a year ago.

That being said- it is refreshing to finally hear something from behind the closed doors at WB. And the Superman news is outstanding as well!!!

Good strategy. I didn't follow this for TDK and ended up knowing more than I should have going into it. This time around I am going to take your approach.

I learned the hard way: Superman Returns and Rocky Balboa. When I saw them 98% of all the little details and surprises were spoiled.

Never again. :cmad:

These articles are ridiculous. First a thread is started saying Nolan is back for B3. What's the source? A throwaway line in an article about something else. Now what's the source for this thread? A throwaway line in an article about something else. I don't mean to have a go but I just don't buy any of these stories.

You mean they've started writing a draft to a script for a movie that is going into production relatively soon?

Wow I'm really surprised by this.

^^ This.

Still, it's great to hear things have been in motion for a while now.

So excited right now! I'm just glad to hear any news about Batman 3!! :woot:

Good job Jonah. It's nice to have a team like the Nolans who know what they're doing. Can't wait for Inception. And can't wait to hear some casting news.
