IESB: Welling out of the running for JLA Superman

yea casting has to been the hardest part for this film.

It looks like welling is out. really, he is the only name we've heard besides rouths. Could they really have a new superman already cast without the name having been leaked out?? kudos to them if thats the case.

If we do indeed have a third Superman, I hope its Eric Bana.

Now Bana would certianly be an inspired choice and I would be all for that!

i really have no clue who would be good to cast for the film, i just hope i am happy with the cast when it is revealed.

I doubt Miller would want Welling for JL. WB could be a different story though. I trust in Miller and hopefully he will get the right man for the job. The cast for this movie sure is a complicated one, and we are in for more controversy, especially when it comes to Superman and Batman when they are finally announced. With that said, I hope Routh or a new actor gets the Superman part.

I doubt it too when you look at his filmography and see with who he has worked.

i even doubt that he would work with a Biel..but the thing is like you imply, has he any say on this matter? look some month ago Martian Manhunter was not even in the script , there were rumors that Miller wanted martian Manhunter AND older actors. What's happened is that well before that was announced that MM was in , the rumor was saying that an agreement was reached : Miller could change a little the script and add MM and he would accept younger actors.. younger actors or rather hip and cool actor ?

when you ad it up Biel , Welling ,Tyrese are from the teen magazine mould unlike a Bale for example..

Really , i a am excited somewhat about this movie because of Miller but when i think about the potential casting , i am less excited : i'm pretty sure that he could get good performance from that kind of actor , but still the project will never reach its full potential of greatness and that's a shame..

The "big" report now over @ IESB and Countingdown is that Welling was in LA yesterday. People are finding that odd since he should be shooting Smallville. Maybe it's something, maybe it's not. I don't care if it's Welling, Routh or someone else, (though I don't want a third Superman out there) I just want to hear something from WB!

I prefer the other fan favorite Dominic Purcell.

Yes, in the comics, Detective John Jones is white, but J'onn J'onzz can be anything he wants. Often when someone selects a fav, they assume he will be CGI or the actor would be painted green/use prostetics, so it doesn't matter what color they are.

I've heard NOTHING that would indicate that Routh is in the running for this film in the least. I'm not bashing him, I thought he did a good job in SR and I'd be happy with him playing supes in JLA. Agreed, I don't want 3 Supermen. Make it Welling or Routh. Now if we were talking about a Kingdom Come pic, then definitely a new Superman would be fine and necessary.

Really? I've haven't heard anyone saying anything like that at least not around here.

The thing is their were rumors going around that WB did not want 3 Supermans so to speak, so if Welling is out we are probably going to see Routh, at least thats what it sounds like to me.

yea out of all this i rather like to see routh return to play supes to see if he can fair better under a different director and story. I did like how he was as supes in SR the only problem in the film was the suit, the story and singer made routh play superman like he was reeves and not himself.

there's already a billion supermen: Superman returns, smallville (if you really count him as superman), the batman, legion of superheroes, and the STAS superman's on Toondisney.

besides, welling as superman would have to tie into smallville regardless of what they say. the public is going to tie the two together, its far more confusing than getting someone else. besides, if kids can tell the 3 supermen on TV apart, adults will most certainly know there all different. humans have something called BRAINS ( or at least most of them)!
