IESB: Welling out of the running for JLA Superman

what i really dont like about SV is that is messes with all the superman mythos, i pray to god if welling is cast that JL has nothing to do with SV, although anyone who has seen the show as a casual viewer and a casual fan will think so, damn wb!

You can take this anyway you want but TVGuide Ausiello is saying Clark recieves a unusual gift in the 10/25 episode. He specifically mentions what colors is is not, and hints that it is mostly red? Could this be the suit? And isn't one episode "LARA"? Could she be the one who gives him the suit? Could he go away for training ie Superman 1. This is a good explanation for his absence while he is filming JLA. But it would coincide with what we have been hearing about. I think an announcement is coming! What are your thoughts?

You do realize the producers planned out this season of Smallville well before WB knew they'd be making a JL movie right? That would take an incredible amount of cooperation between producers of Smallville and Justice League to set that all up a head of time. If that had been the case Welling would already have been cast.

if you been following smallville news all summer people knew he would be starting to fly/learning to fly it was stated in an interview with miller/gough that kara will be teaching him at some point in the season.

I think it is pretty much a 98% chance that tom welling is not going to be superman for the jla, the smallville producers would probably not let him leave and miss like 3-5 episodes of the show since he is the central character of the show. Also there has been many reports that tom never wants to be superman and wear the suit and all that over the years. Personally with superman in jla they should go with an unknown/semi known actor who looks the part well or just give it to routh since he is/was the new film's superman. This is the big problem with doing a live action jla film now and not using bale as batman and routh as superman since they are the new generation actors for the film and you know the general audiences will be confused with different actors playing the characters then we have seen playing the roles in the past few yrs and all that. I really wished wb would have waited to after a third bale batfilm and atless another routh superman film and try to get a ww,flash, gl solo films out first before doing a jla film.

nope, now welling i do like in smallville i personally dont want to see him as superman for the jla film they should either give the supes role to routh to see if he fairs better under a different director then singer or just go with a unknown actor.

Yea either wb should let routh continue as the new generation superman on film or just go with some unknown/semi known actor for superman. Welling is a good actor and i enjoy watching him on smallville i just dont see him as a film superman since i read many times he has no interest to ever playing superman and wearing the tights and all that.

Yea the only thing i really had against SR was the whole kid plot and not enough action in the film otherwise it was a good film to watch.

I think Welling could certainly pull of Superman. Of course I wouldn't mind seeing Routh in the role either but Superman is Superman. At this point I am resigned to the fact that Superman: Man of Steel is not going to happen as a continuation of Returns.

I wish people would stop bashing Routh. Bash Singer if you have to, (although his heart was in the right place, paying his respects to Christopher Reeve and the previous films). Routh wasn't just trying to play Superman, he had to play Christopher Reeve playing Superman, that's not easy, and he did a good job.
