It's not, "declining." Logan and Deadpool both made a boatload of money. DOFP was only three years ago and also made a ton of cash.

Deadpool isn't really X-Men. He's basically his own character. The main appeal of Logan (Hugh Jackman) is gone now. It was a one-off.

Apocalypse was the actual X-Men film and it flopped. If Dark Phoenix doesn't improve on it substantially in terms of both quality and box office, the X-Men franchise will be in a very bad spot.

Cap and Sue Storm

Doesn't look like anything new, really. Other than Murdoch wants to decide by the end of the year
Alice Eve was my choice years ago for that Fantastic Four Reborn movie that never manifested but unfortunately, she'll be a little too old for Sue by the time they introduce the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

Speaking of casting, does anyone else like Michael Pitt for Victor?

Why can't they do that with the same cast?

My point is that we won't suddenly get reboots of the spin-off teams like New Mutants. Either the current film will be canceled when it has all of four months left in post-production and will likely only continue to be worked on for three before its in the can or we'll get New Mutants and then be told we won't get a sequel even if it's good. And we won't get a brand new team after the old team goes away. Why pay to see a film with a cliffhanger at the end if audiences know that it won't amount to anything?

And why ditch Tatum as Gambit when he's never even appeared on screen?

Well Marvel Studios didn't cast Channing so why would they cast him in the first place? They aren't obligated to keep cast members from Foxverse especially someone who have yet to appear in a foxverse film.

flop:whatever: doesn't even matter now if new mutants, deadpool 2,and dark phoenix are successful or not everything in x-men cinematic universe is dead on arrival with feige doing mcu reboot.

I see it the other way, not so much a break from the X-men themselves but a break of the entire MCU. If it is all connected and you are watching all the MCU content you need to break from the Inhumans and explain why that was such a trauma if mutants had been around for openly centuries.

True. But this is why I say introduce the F4 first. As then by the time the F4 are established we could introduce mutant kind and the Inhumans will likely be much more flushed out.

It depends on what age range they'd be going for. She's younger than Lilly and Zoe Saldana by a few years but they might go younger for Sue, Reed and Ben

To be fair, both Saldana and Lily were 34 when cast, Alice will be their age now by the time F4 get their own movie (2020-2021). And Scarlett, Klementieff, Gillian, VanCamp, Atwell, Alexander, Nyong'o and Smulders - were 27, 30, 26, 27, 28, 27, 32 & 30 when they were cast. I just don't see Marvel going that old for Sue Storm.

As for the the age of the Four, Johnny should ideally be the youngest. I would cast someone around Tom Holland's age. Sue is the second youngest and Reed & Ben are close. I would go people who graduated College a few years ago (Early to mid 30s) so Johnny would be 17, Sue 30, Reed 34, and Ben 35.

Ideally, they should start out younger for longevity. Reed Richards is a huge part of the Marvel Univese so the actor should be able to play the character for at least 12 years

It's also to do with how old they look rather than their actual age. A lot of these actresses stay in great shape so can pull off being action stars at later ages.

I would hope they try to tackle Fantastic Four first and do those characters justice. The X-Men have been around since comic book movie boom got started 17 years ago and honestly after 15+ years of those movies I don't really care if Marvel gets them back as I'm really burnt out on the franchise.

I need a live action Hulk vs Thing in my lifetime dammit

Thing vs Hulk
Hulk vs Wolverine
Spider-Man and Human Torch
Black Panther and Storm
Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (Spider-Man, Iceman and Firestar)

Psylocke and Captain Britain
Rogue and Captain Marvel
Emma Frost and Sub Mariner
Fantastic Four and Sub Mariner
Magik and Doctor Strange
Shadowcat and Star Lord

As well.

Surfer seems a prime candidate given the cosmic direction post-Avengers 4 the MCU will be taking.

Surfer could be introduced in GOTG3. Gunn wanted to use these characters bad.

I think he will be in Guardians 3 once approved.

Once they have the rights, I hope they'll introduce the concept of Galactus (and Surfer) with vague, frightened hushed tones so that by the time he shows up to threaten the Earth, he's already a horrifying specter of death and destruction. I'd like Silver Surfer to be feared as an extension of Galactus before we get to know who he really is.

It seems too soon for a repeat of after all these years Thanos finally showing up.

Yeah, I don't think we need a film anytime soon, but with the cosmic elements we're seeing, I'd like it to be known that Galactus is out there. Then maybe in the third FF film - many years from now, he could become a threat to Earth.

Why can't they do that with the same cast?

Because those castings are tied together with an overall vision of how to run the X-Men franchise. Marvel doesn't just magically "make" a movie into a billion dollar smash. They start at the fundamental foundation. . . which means their vision for how the X-Men should be, and needs to be, in order to turn it into a success? Is not the same as the prior vision.

IOW, new casting needed, to fit this new vision.

I want a proper Dr Doom to be a menace in the MCU.

Doom would break that rule, Menace, strike fear in the hearts of mortal men, make women hide their science kits, make other villians (besides the Skull, of course) shiver in delight and admiration, and be a real badguy, one to rival all others, even, dare we say it? Doc Ock.

For a new Doctor Doom you have to include Latveria and the fact that he's the leader of a sovereign nation. Giving him some levels of diplomatic immunity.

How awesome would it be if Johnny Storm and Bobby Drake turned up at Peter's (Parker) high school. You wouldn't even need to see them use their powers.
