"While we're disappointed, we remain committed to these characters and we have a lot to look forward to in our Marvel universe," said Fox domestic distribution chief Chris Aronson.

Also remember that Fox is holding onto hope that the film will fare better in the remaining overseas market, though based on last weekend's O/S numbers, I doubt that'll be the case. It's still too early for them to throw the franchise under the bus.

If Marvel ends up getting the rights back(which I hope they do), I think they need to show up in some other Marvel U movie as supporting characters or at least in a cameo appearance. Then they can possibly generate some interest again for their own Marvel U movie after this latest bomb.
If Marvel does get the opportunity to produce a Fantastic Four film, I hope it starts with Reed waking up in a panic after having a nightmare where they lived out the Trank Body horror film. He shares his story with Sue, Johnny and Ben who all laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

And then he looks at Ben, who's not wearing pants. He screams and wakes up for real.
So I wrote an outline basically on how I think a Marvel FF movie would go and how to seed them through phase 3...I didn't put too much though into it and just started typing it. I have no idea how to finish it though....anyway take a REED.....
Doctor Strange - Will be showing new dimensions, make one of them the Negative Zone...however brief. Maybe tease a certain someone in Eastern Europe with magic (name drop or referance, nothing more)
GotG2 - Can namedrop Galactus or Silver surfer, maybe Surfer can even have a cameo similar to how Cosmo the dog was in the first
Spider-Man - A scene on the streets with Spidey either swinging past or fighting in from of an old abandoned building with the name "Baxter Building on it.
Thor 3 - Nothing really needed here...
Infinity War Pt I - Silver surfer can startoff the movie like he does in the comics by crashing on Earth looking for Doctor Strange
Black Panther - A mention that T'Challas father used to work with the famous Reed Richards before he died. Perhaps Dooms first appearance in a scene where the leaders of each country are meeting UN-style. Or just another refereance. A Namor reference could also be made
Captain Marvel - Nothing really needed here
Infinity War Pt II - Nothing really needed except SS whois part of the story....MAYBE Doom could fill his role like in the comics...although that may be too soon.
Inhumans - Nothing needed here

1985
Reed Richards and his friend, Hank Pym, are finishing off preperations for Reeds first big space expedition. Being hailed as the smartest person on the planet, Reed has acquired the funds and equipment from SHIELD, the US Government, and his own inheritance, to launch his own spaceship. There are strange readings and signals coming from the dark side of the moon that Reed (and SHIELD) want to document and discover their origin. Hank, one of Reeds closest friends, is there to see him and his team. Although dislikes the fact that Reed won't take actual astronauts with him. Reed assures Hank that his team have all had the training and passed all the tests with excellent results. He gives his friend a handshake (and gets into a bear hug by Hank) and tells him to tell Janet goodbye from him. A voice from behind tells him to tell her himself, and we see Janet arrive. She embraces Reed and gives him a kiss on the cheek goodbye. Hank and Janet then embrace and have a passionate kiss. Reed, awkwardly backs out of the room and hurries to get changed into his spacesuit and get on the ship.
A brief time later, We see Reed strapping himself into the middle of one of three seats. To his left, he grins excitedly at his girlfriend, Sue Storm, who smiles with excitement and nerves. She reaches out and they hold hands. To his right, is young 21 year old, Johnny Storm. He looks like he's going to pass out from a weird mixture of fear and amusement. Reed asks if he is okay. Johnny just nods, afraid to open his mouth incase he throws up.
Reed calls ahead to the pilot seat, asking if they are all set. Ben Grimm looks back round at him, giving a nod of approval and says "You know, when I said I'd pilot your spaceship....I didn't actually think I'd actually BE doing it!". Reed says he promised, to which Ben agrees. And Ben always keeps his promises. The countdown begins and then the ship takes off.
We have a shot of the ship flying through space, heading to the moon.
Then, Hank Pym and Howard Stark standing at the control room, keeping in contact with Reed. Suddenly something goes wrong, the team is yelling and panicking. Communications drop and all monitoring of the ship ceases.
The control room goes quiet, mourning the team and beleiving them to be dead. Hank has gone white as a sheet. Howard puts a hand on his shoulder in comfort. He says Reed must have overlooked something, but Hank refuses to believe that. Something else must have happened.
MARVEL STUDIOS PRESENTS
THE FANTASTIC FOUR
Present Day....
Out in space, a broken and wrecked spaceship hurtles back to Earth. It crash lands in the middle of the ocean. Once it settles and cools down, the door opens face upwards, and Reed, Sue and Johnny climb out. Reed manages to send out a distress signal and hope Shield or somebody comes to their rescue. Ben climbs out and we get our first look at the Thing. He's just a bit bigger than his usual size and his skin covered in orangerocks. He's a mixture of makeup and cgi...It's basically the Thing you've always wanted. Reed promises Ben that now they are back on Earth, he'll move heaven and hell to find a cure for his condition. Ben appreciates the sentiment but questions why he's been turned into a monster while the others now have powers. Reed scratches his head and says "That's something we'll discover together." Sue is telling off Johnny who is flying about on fire. It's clear that the team are already used to their powers. Johnny says this is the best things that's ever happened to him. Ben says it's the opposite for him. Sue questions how long it'll be before they are found....Reed doesn't know....but decides to send Johnny in one direction to fly ahead, hit land, and findd someone with a boat or helicopter. He gives him a communication device. Suddenly the ship begins to sink and, thinking fast, Sue forms a forcefield, engulfing herself, Reed and Ben. She figures she can hold it and the three of them will just have to walk until Johnny finds help.
As the spaceship slowly sinks, it hits to ocean floor which erupts the fuel tank. It reacts with an eery yellow ooze covering one side of the ship. It mingles with the water....in the distance, multiple figures watch the ship.....and even further behind them are lights of a great city....
Later on, Sue is getting tired holding the force field. Just as she's about to collapse, they spot a cruise ship in the distance. They race across the ocean surface but Sue collapses and the force field disappears. Reed wraps himself around the two and pulls them up onto the deck. They interupt a conga line and a party in full swing. People panic and flee at the sight of them, especially the Thing, who proclaims he wanted limbo.
Reed manages to calm down the Captain of the ship and staff and convince them they mean no harm and just need to get back to land and a phone call. He also tells them if they provide a room for them, he'll repay them generously....the Captain agrees, he believes they don't mean harm, but isn't sure how they'd react if they don't cooporate. They are shown to a room and Sue immediantly goes for a shower while Thing relaxes on one of the beds....and breaks it. Reed immediantly goes to a computer, and recognizes what year it is. "Oh....we have a lot to catch up on."
In the middle of the beautiful sunken Atlantis lies the huge throne room of Namor. Namor gets off his throne as his guard comes in. They tell him that a group of land dwellers have just polluted their city and whatever it is they dumped, it's killing the fish and is proving toxic to the Atlantians. Furious, Namor sees this as an attack on his dominion and his people and declares war on the people of the land. But first to make those responsible suffer and be an example to the fury of Atlantis. His guard tells them scouts have tracked them to a ship not far off. Namor sends an assault team to bring them back kill everyone around them.
Sue asks if she managed to contact Johnny yet. Reed says he has and he's somewhere looking for the ship. Sue and Ben are still reeling after finding out they are over 30 years in the future and asks how that was even possible. Reed haphazardly explains it must be the dimension they entered and theorizes that the concept of time must not exist....or it was the wormhole that he had to open to escape...instead of opening just a few weeks after they entered the dimension it opened up further in time....Reed then jumps up from the computer and tells them to look at the screen. Ben and Sue peer closer and there are multiple news articles featuring major events of the past 30 years....among them are the death of Howard Stark, Return of Captain America, The Avengers, fall of SHIELD, Battle of New York, Ultron, rise of people with powers and many others.
Suddenly there's screaming from up deck. Sue changes back into her uniform (to her disgust) and they head up deck. There are many people running scattered as larger humanoid people climb up over the side of the ship and start attacking people. Unsure what's going on, Reed, Ben and Sue leap into action to protect civilians. Embracing his strength and hardened skin, Thing charges through several Atlantians. The Atlantians realise these are the people they were looking for so start fighting. Sue goes invisable and uses her force fields to protect people as well as entrap attackers. Reed tries to communicate with them while wrapping himself around them to hold them down. Ben just keeps chucking them back into the water. Just in time, Johnny swoops in and starts firing fireballs at the Atlantians. Realising they aren't strong enough, the Atlantians retreat.
Having saved the ship, the civilians come back out and celebrate, thanking the team. An old man grabs Reeds hands and raises it in the air "Let's hear for these Fantastic Four!!" He yells. Everybody claps and the team stand there, embaressed yet proud. Reed feels something is off though about that attack.
The Atlantians that attacked return to Namor. They explain what happened and that the four have powers out of their understanding. Having been closed off from the antics of the human race, Namor decides to send scouts to every major continant. To gather intel on what the humans have been up too, and find the 4 people with powers, who he'll kill personally.
We skip a few days later, The four are back in NY, in the now old and abandoned Baxter building. While it's being refurbished and fixed up, Reed is reading the newspaper articles. The headlines feature the "Fantastic Four" and Reed sees he has been dubbed "Mr Fantastic" He points out that's not really a clever name and then notes it could be worse because Sue is being nicknamed "Invisable Woman".
Johnny comes in, saying he's been getting to grips with this new world they find themselves in. Reed shows him the headlines and Johnny comments that they are calling him "Fire-Boy" which is dumb and says he is taking the name "Human Torch" instead....because it's badass, And finally Ben is being called "Thing." Ben enters and remarks that the name is insulting....and wants Reed to get to work curing him as soon as possible.
Sue comes in and Johnny and her have been adjusting to finding out about their fathers death. He died in 2012 and died during the Chitauri invasion. But Sue, having looked up friends and colleauges of their father, tells Johnny that he was happy in his final years, having accepted and moved on with the lose of his two children. Reed comforts Sue while Ben offers his condolences. Johnny tries to keep a strong demeanour. Sue says she is going to bed and Reed retires to the lab to begin looking into their powers and making a cure.
Namor and 20 of his guard walk out onto a beach in early morning. Namor leads his men, who are all wearing breathing apparatus, inland. They intend to do something big to draw the 4 out.
The next morning, there's a knock on the door to the lab and Reed, half asleep, invites them in without looking. Hank Pym enters. "What the hell took you so long?" Reed, shocked but estatic, leaps from his chair and they hug. Hank says it's been way too long. And together they catch up. Hank tells him about Janets disappearance into the Quantum Realm, his daughter and Scotts activities saving the world and in return Reed relays what happened all those years ago from his point of view.
FLASHBACK
Reed and co are travelling to the moon when their systems go crazy. The ship starts to shake and suddenly in a flash of purple/green light and static, the ship crash lands on a rocky planet. During the flash of light we see the four hit with light and static/electricity flowing through their bodies. Then darkness. As they awake we see the group (no sound except Reed narrating what happened to them) terrified and struggling with their powers, especially Ben who is horrified at his appearance. They look around outside, with helmets on and see nothing but darkness, except the rocky ground. The ship had broken through the thin crust of the planet, which exposed an illuminating yellow ooze. Reed explains in voicover, how he repaired the systems and managed to replicate the incident as closely as possible, which managed to reopen the wormhole. Reed, Ben, Johnny and Sue together, managed to get the ship to fly using old Stark propulsion tech.
As Reed finishes explaining. Sue rushes in and tells Reed to look at the t.v. Hank and Reed rush out of the lab to the others as the other 3 are standing watching the screen. (Hank sneaks a few stares at Ben, who catches him at it). On the screen is Namor, on land. He's somewhere in Washington D.C and him and his Atlantians are fighting their way to the White House. He presents himself to the cameras and calls out the Fantastic Four for polluting his world and threatening his people.
The team suit up and rush to D.C. They arrive and meet on the lawn of the White House. The president is being evacuated. Preventing Namor and his group from entering the White House, Reed and Namor talk for the first time. Reed asks what it is they are supposed to have done and Namor tells them of the ship they abandoned that's killing his city, his people, his livestock and that he intends to exact justice on those responsible. Reed is ashamed that he's cause this, and hurt people. He's also incredibly amazed and curious at Namor and his species. He wants to sit down and discuss with Namor on what they can do to fix the situation, but Namor is having none of it and attacks Reed, who stretches out of the way.
The battle begins, with the Fantastic Four working together. Reed tells them not to hurt him much, it's just a misunderstanding, so the 4 try to contain as many as possible. Reed wraps around him and tries gets him in a headlock, but Namor is too strong and gets out of it, punching Reed and sending him flying. Johnny catches Reed and fires a ball of fire at Namor. From amongst the flames, Ben punches Namor and tries to pin him down. Namor matches Thing in strength and turns the tables on him by slamming him the ground. Reed throws a punch from across the lawn but Namor grabs his arm and yanks him towards him. Namor beats down on Reed until Thing pulls him off. Sue is invisable and throws a few punches at Namor who tries to headbutt her. He headbutts a forcefield and is sent staggering back. He's trapped in a forcefield and as a protective measure, Johnny creates a wall of fire around it. Finally contained, Namor is transported back to the Baxter building and contained in a cell able to withstand his strength.
That's as far as I got. I'm not sure how to end it....I wanted to avoid the whole climatic battle that has become common in the Marvel movies and wanted to show that Reed and Namor would be able to come to terms and Reed would help clear all the pollution he is responsible for. Namor would decide that the World needs to know of Atlantis's presence and join the rest of them, despite his dislike for humans, he acknowledges he shares this planet with them.
At the very end the FF are ready to explore more of the universe as they pile into a new spaceship and fire off into the stars.
End credits is Doom on his throne. He watches footage of Namor and FF fighting and realizes Richards is back and alive. He wants to chat. He walks out onto a balcony where thousands of his supporters/citzens of Latvia are cheering and bowing.
