So with how these last 2 movies have done both in box office and with reviews if sony could go back knowing how these last 2 movies turned out would they still have reboot? Or would they have just done spider man 4? If they did still reboot how do you think sony would have done things differently? How differt would asm1 and 2 be if sony could go back and do them over?

If they purposely made the sinister six movie bad by them meddling and they decide to reboot it people just wouldn't care unless marvel does it due to Marvel great track record. The only people can regain their trust is if Sony doesnt meddle with the sinister six, the amazing spiderman 3 and the female spinoff and future sequels and spinoffs and hire some great talented writers and directors even great talents who are comic book and spiderman fans. I hope we get some news in the future

No. If they knew how the next two films would be received they would not have rebooted. The brand is in a much worse place now financially than it was after SM3.

true, i hope this is makes them see that rushing things got them here, with the least profittable movie yet and sadly one of the worse CBM´s this year, also they invested a LOT and didn´t make what they expected... i think Sinister Six is their last resort to see if this franchise is salvagable

I hope asm3 and sinister six turns things around but a lot of times number 3's in a siears is when the siears get a lot worse. Terminator, the originoy spider man movies, Jurassic park the list of bad 3's even after the first 2 where consider good goes on and one. Has there ever been a siears where the first 2 where consider just ok to kind of bad but the 3erd one was consider good or even great? I cant think of any.

NO don't the movies are making less money even with 3d and inflation so the amont of ticket sales are way down. I just wonder if sony could do things over maybe they still reboot but maybe they word have hired different wrighters or derictor or don't cut has much form the movies or something.

the thing is... i think Sony doesn´t want to change or risk anything they go safely and they do the same story over and over again and they don´t like giving a lot of creative control to their directors i think since the venom thing, they hired Webb because he isn´t that big and could play arround with him, he is happy to have the job but as seen with Rhino and GG they like to change what he tries to do like Rhino making his own suit and keeping GG secret.

also reverse engineering the script...bad idea imho

It would've been also a really good idea for them to release both directors cuts of TASM 1 and 2 on blu ray so their sales would increase however they still have to remind themselves what happened with the first. 2 theatrical films before and after its release and even listen to the fans so they can make a great spiderman franchise by not meddling with the creators's works and hire done very great and talented writers and directors

Yeah especially since from what we've seen in both original cuts of the film Webb still is talented and Sony messed up his work for no reason. If they want to save their own company a d keep the rights then they need to stop what they're doing and give Webb some freedom

Short answer.... No. They needed a loose continuity. VERY loose.

What they should have done was replace Raimi if they couldn't get on the same page, and paid a boat load to retain the cast. Raimi could have stayed on as producer, but I would have went with Vulture/Lizard/Kraven in SM4.

Unfortunately, the Raimi series was a dead end. They concluded the love triangle and basically consummated a definitive future for the protagonist, where we forgive all who do us wrong and let go. There was nowhere left to go. SM4 would have just been a milk job.

They should have rebooted with a new character, as blasphemous as it sounds, if they wanted a long term solution. Parker could have came back as an Alfred type, but older and not as Spidey. I think audiences wanted a completely new story if anything. Someone could have accidentally or deliberately stumbled on the radioactive spider. Enter Miles Morales.

You could then revisit Parker stories as prequels or a reboot 15-20 years post Spiderman 2002.

Not a snowball's chance.

Regardless of what you think of the series personally, this reboot has NOT given sony what they wanted...

If I were in charge, or had a time machine, I would have thrown everything at keeping Raimi, heck, even the Budget of TASM2 ;)

As much as I personally enjoyed the reboot, I still miss macguire, and I know a fair few people feel the same way.

I do not miss maguire at all. I just want this franchise to have done great stories is all

you have great actors and a rookie director willing to learn but the script is all over the place then you cut that script in a really bad way making the story worse and the studio makes what they want without thinking how it could affect the story or spoil it with too much marketing, think about it if you take away these actors and maybe the love scenes direction(the thing Marc is actually good at) this movie would´ve been much worse.

TASM2 is "Sony presents Sony´s Spider-man, by Sony...and uh some guy called Marc Webb"

also what is with Kurtzmann and Orci and their superblood or in this case "radioactive spiderblood"?

I don't know what Sony's problem is. If they really want to keep the rights especially if its the only thing that's suppose to keep them alive then why try to ruin the movie? Wouldn't it make sense to do it on a different franchise like maybe thundercats or something?

I don't have a y idea what is up with kurtzman and orci's magic blood idea. It's just stupid

I think no. Sony is obviously not happy with the state of things in the reboot. They never had to worry about box office and do spin offs in the previous franchise. The worst it got was a mixed reception for Spider-Man 3.

Hindsight is a great thing.

i think the spin offs idea was loooong before this reboot, remember Venom almost had one?, also they try to do this because Marvel did it and Avi Arad is willing to do spin offs to proove Spider-man is bigger than Avengers and sadly he isn´t anymore

The fact that TASM3 has been pushed back from 2016 to 2018, means that the series isn't going where it wanted. They can throw all the S6 next year all they want but that wasn't their original plan.

Yup, sony invested a lot this time and their profits are not that big, it wouldn't surprise me if they reboot after TASM3
"That's the sony way when is uncovinient you reboot it",lol

All because Sony ****ed over two films no reason.

That's right, the venom film was in production before the raimi films ever fit cancelled

Well hopefully Goddard saw this coming. Hopefully with all that happen they won't meddle with the franchise.

As much as I loved the first Spider-Man movie when I was a kid (espacialy for Willem Dafoe ... and the fact that It was the first Spider-Man movie), SONY took the right choice to reboot the Spider-Man franchise.

Why?

Because Tobey Maguire portrayal of Peter Parker and Spider-Man is way too far from the character created by Stan Lee. Is that Sam Raimi's fault or Tobey's fault ? Bit of both.
"He's a nerd", okay we get it.
But Sam Raimi forgot that Peter used to be a nerd, outsider, until his uncle died and he became Spider-Man. After that, he's not that nerd, goofy guy anymore.
In fact, Peter is an intelligent, smart looking guy. If someone disagree with that fact, maybe he should take a look at TASM comics. Hey, after all, it's the source material !

Concerning Spider-Man, Sam Raimi clearly nailed the spectacular vibe of the character with his action sequences. Webb too, but only in TASM 2.
BUT, concerning Peter Parker alter-ego himself, Sam Raimi didn't nailed the wise cracking / joke of the character.
The reboot does.

The only thing that could have make me change my mind would have been to cast Jake Gyllenhaal in the 2nd movie instead of Tobey.
I'm pretty sure he would have been a better Peter Parker (and maybe a better Spidey) than Tobey.

There's also more reasons explaining why I'm glad SONY decided to reboot Spider-Man franchise...
I know that people on this forum love Sam Raimi's movies more than Marc Webb's movies.
That's why it's just my opinion. Some will agree, some won't.:halo:

From a purely business point of view the Raimi series made more money and was more critically successful

In his time, there was no MCU, or DCU. So yes, from a purely business point of view, since concurrence was less severe :yay:!
