i would love to see a faithful design for the green goblin. the mask can be done. as to why he uses it? i guess insanity. but the hat? i dont kno how theyd pull that off. i dont want to see him wearing boots and skimpy underwear tho. it looks cool and all in the comics but i would not want to see something like that in a film. i think a tech-heavy design would be cool since it would be a better idea to have his weapons NOT come out of a purse. but the mask should definetly be a consideration, that pic with the yellow lenses above would be so awesome to see on film because it could easily be accentuated for his smile, but the purple jerkin? no thanku

Hmmm, TBH I still wouldn't want him to transform at all. I think it makes him too similar to the Hulk, I'd like for Osborn's transformation to be more internal than external. With him being a scientist, it could be a cool way to show that not all expiraments affect you on the outside, some can do more damage inside. I remember when they introduced the transforming Goblin in Ultimate Spider-Man, I wasn't really to fond of the character, but that's just me though.

Now if they wanted to mesh both the 616 and Ultimate universes together, Norman can be the original Goblin in a costume, after his death, Harry blames Spider-Man, finds the chemicals used to create the first Goblin, adds some of his own chemicals which causes Harry to transform. More or less, Harry would be the souped-up version of the Green Goblin. Just to keep it from being compared to the Hulk, I still suggest the Goblin be a costume but thats a way they could go about it if fans really wanted a transforming Goblin.

I agree with your sentiments. However, I feel the current filmmaking team and Sony, if they use the Green Goblin again, will want, for the sake of differntiation, to make him tranform.

I want original Green Goblin glider and all. I just feel they are too shortsighted to do him twice the original way.

I kinda feel like they may do it just to set it apart from the original. I also feel like each villain included should have their own origin that doesn't share similarities to another villains origin. I would find it an extreme coincidence that 2 scientist had freak accidents occur that transformed one into a 9 foot tall green Lizard, and the other into a possibly 7 foot tall green Goblin . It's hard too call it at this point exactly what direction Marc Webb is going for, we don't know if he's aiming to deal with the more monstrous villains in Spidey's rogues or what. Raimi's villains were just at the wrong place at the wrong time, depending on how you look at it (excluding Osborn)t:

Hell yeah, that's not bad at all. What would be cool is Osborn's accident causes Doc Ock's accident, you've just nailed 2 origins within the span of 7 minutes . Keep Doc Ock unconcious throughout the film, introduce him in the sequel as a villain

I like, Green Goblin in part 2, Doc Ock in part 3 with another villain you've incorporated both iconic Spider-Man villains.

If the Lizard is in this first one, why not have Max Dillon working at his lab like in TSSM and then his accident happens?

I know what you mean, 616 Goblin IMO is so much more badass because he doesn't have all that muscle and doesn't through hadoukens and stuff. Practical arsenal kills the Street Fighter esque arsenal, I'm just waiting for Ultimate Goblin to say Sonic Boom!!!

It would be the reverse of how it was depicted in Batman Begins when people were hit with the fear gas, they depicted Batman and Scarecrow as being monstrous. Norman Osborn may see himself as being like that although he doesn't physically look like whats being depicted in his thoughts, he creates his costume to almost reflect the way he thinks he appears in his hallucinations. I think by doing it that way, it adds more to his insanity as opposed to Willem Dafoe's performance where the Goblin persona was basically Dafoe talking funny and laughing maniacally.

Exactly like that, and instead of being tormented by his evil side like Dafoe's, Webb's Goblin actually embraces his darker side due to the fact that Osborn wanted to be powerfull from jump before he even became the Goblin

I'm hoping so as well, if the film does warrant sequels, I would like for Osborn's transformation to span a couple of movies, building up hype for the Green Goblin, aside from Venom, Green Goblin is one of Spidey's bigger threats.
