What If... One Last Day
As Peter and MJ stood before Mephisto their love for each other being weighed against their love for Aunt May, their pain swirling around them almost palpably. "I have to..." Peter began to whisper to MJ.
"STOP!" Pleaded a familiar voice. Peter turned to see two women. One in a dark dress with her face veiled, the other was Aunt May in a hospital gown. "Peter, you have to stop this. I beg you not even to consider it."
"Silence Interlopers!" barked Mephisto harshly, sending a wave of energy at the Aunt May.
the veiled woman held up a hand and the energy broke against it impotently as a gentle wave. "You, vile-one," she said quietly, but with resounding power. "Are the one who shall be silent."
Mephisto staggered by, seemingly in shock, but regained his composure quickly.
Aunt May went quickly to two of her favorite people in the world. "You have to stop this Peter," she begged her nephew. "I love you so much, and it's my time."
"No," Peter sobbed. "It can't be. this is my fault, that bullet was meant for me."
"Do you think I care?" she asked. "Peter, nearly your whole life, I have loved you like a son. Don't you think I would have leapt in front of that bullet had I known about it? I am happy I was able to save your life, even if inadvertantly."
Peter waivered.
"This isn't the way I wanted to go," the older woman admitted. "But it is a good way. I get to go knowing that my Nephew is a hero. That he will be looked after." She stroked MJ's face matronly. "My only regret is that Edwin will suffer, but I'm ready. I'm ready to be with Ben."
Peter fell to his knees. "I know this hurts," Aunt May spoke gently, holding her nephew. "But this too shall pass. Don't let your love for me be used by this agent of Hell."
Mephisto looked flattered for a moment.
"No," Peter whispered. He turned his face toward Mephisto. "NO!" He barked.
"Damn you," he said, not to Peter, but to the veiled woman.
"You should have known not to interfere in my balliwick," she reprimanded him. "The humans are limited by mortal scope and can be forgiven. You do not have that same luxury. Attempt again, and you shall pay most dearly."
Mephisto dissappaited insolently and they were left in their hotel room with Aunt May and the Veiled woman. "I have to go now, Peter," May said.
"Spider," the veiled woman spoke. "What is your calling?"
"What?" he asked, confused by her abrupt shift in topic.
"You have done many things with your life, what felt most natural to you?"
Peter though... not photography, not fighting, not even research felt as natural as... "Teaching," he spoke. "But my face is known, I can't teach anymore."
"Do you not know some children who would benifit from a Teacher and a Super-Hero?"
a week later...
the restaurant was elegent, the teenagers (and Molly) sitting around it were not. they bickered and squabbled. and they met with their contact... the Kingpin. He was only moments into his speech when he was interrupted by a knock on the window behind them. "Hey Chubby," Spider-Man called. "You know you can't eat the children, right?"
this is so freaking good this is how it should have been
Damn you Joey Q!!

It would probably be better than what Loeb has planned. What if The Sentry had become the Red Hulk?
I think it would be a good story. It could be built on the last battle in WWH between The Hulk and The Sentry.
WOWthis is so freaking good this is how it should have been
Damn you Joey Q!!

"What If People responding to these various threads stayed on topic instead offering pretentious comments on everything from politics to food? (And what's up with foul language? Kids are reading this web site.)" I've been noticing a pattern on these threads. If someone doesn't indicate by the threads they post some sort of deference to the vast intellect of some of the senior frequenters of this site, they proceed to belittle (actually, bully) the individuals with the new threads. Who are these yokels? If they are offended by the low intellect of what's posted on this site, I'm sure their uber quasi-MIT/Stanford/Berkley level synopsis of comic book plots would dazzle someone on the Mensa Society International website. For all you individuals out there longing to talk about simple comic books and their related themes, I encourage you, don't hide because of phonies like Anubis and The Corpulent 1. These guys are bone-heads from any angle. Ignore them. Post away. You wanna discuss who the most powerful superhero in comics is? Thread away! The strongest? Start typing right here. Do not be intimidated by these losers. They are nobodys... You're opinions matters just as much as theirs. Matter of fact, probably more.
...Wow.
When I was new to these boards, it was really easy to tell who was in certain somewhat "cliques" and I could easily tell that Anubis and TheCorpulent1 was in one of them. Makes sense when you have a message board as old as this one. Posters are going to get to know one another and "stick together" with their inside jokes.
The only time I've noticed what could be viewed as "bullying" was when someone said something so "out there" and farfetched that it made you twitch your eye and look over your shoulder and say "...did they really just do/say that?". Normally it is the lack of maturity from the poster getting "commented about" that causes certain discussions to escalate to where I've seen Anubis or TheCorpulent1 be a total ass. Generally it is a person who takes a comment on the internet personal as if said to their actual face.
So, sorry if you feel you've been attacked...but you didn't help your situation by how you replied to their comments when they were still "neutral". Obviously after several threads or posts of you lashing at them, they aren't going to give a flying f**k (don't think I'm getting upset, it is just an expression) if they are "neutral" anymore with thier posts. Of course they are going to want to flat out embarass you and insult you.
A large part, is how you react before things get messy. I don't even know the two guys real well. I see their posts and respect their intellect and knowledge on comics, but frankly it is annoying when people do what you just did. So don't take this personal either.

What if Bendis never existed?
That's what I'm wondering. My comments are snide and sarcastic, I'll grant that, but they're usually aimed at comics and creators, not other posters. Unless it's a poster I know and I'm just messing around.

Possibly. If even a quarter of the nonsense I spout in jest were taken seriously, I'd look like quite a *****e.That's what I'm thinking also. Most of us here can get snarky at one another, but it's all in good fun. I'm rarely serious when I pick on someone here..sometimes...but most of the time not.
Maybe he took one of yours and Anubis' comments seriously when it wasn't meant to be.![]()
