If you were a DC character, who would you be?

I wouldn't mind being Captain Atom, even though people would keep calling me Silver Surfer and/or Dr. Manhattan. :cwink:

Pfft, Maaaaan f**k Barry Allen. :o

I didn't used to feel that way but ever since Flashpoint/New 52... yeah. To Hell with Barry Allen - and to Hell with Bart Allen as well.

Meh. I'm just happy the real Flash is back. For years all it was was Wally, with maybe some Jay and Bart every now and then. If you were a Barry fan, you were screwed. I'm 23 so I "grew up" with Wally but Barry has always been my favorite Flash and I always wanted new stories with him (sans murdered mother :argh: ) so being a Flash fan and having every other "Flash" published but your favorite kind of sucked. It was disappointing to me to buy my first Flash comic (after being introduced to him through the animated JL show) and find out that it wasn't a "Flash" story but a story about a guy dressing up like him because he is gone. Felt kind of like a cop out. Now the shoe is on the other foot....and while I'm sure Wally will show up again in some form, he won't be the old Wally with the Barry Allen rip-off origin, and I don't mind if it's a while yet til he shows up. Since the mid 90s Wally was just a poor man's Barry Allen anyway (police job, reporter gf, secret identity, upped power level, had his own Kid Flash and Reverse Flash, twins, the return of the old suit and logo and Rogues, etc)...only thing missing from the book was Barry Allen himself, so IMO they should have brought him back a lot sooner. Once you get past the "living in Barry's shadow" character arc you are telling Barry Allen stories with whoever is in The Flash suit. Just my thoughts on that. And unless you're going to completely redesign/reinvent him (which why would you mess with one of the most perfectly designed suits in all of comics, one of the most iconic looks of all time - almost anything done to it won't be an improvement, so you may as well just throw the whole thing out and reinvent everything if you're going to go that far), you should have the "real guy" in the costume and title, IMO.

Barry's always been the most down to earth guy in the DCU, the guy you're most likely to bump into, that alone makes him unique to me. He's not defined by tragedy or a billionaire or an alien or a test pilot. He's just a pretty regular dude who happens to be a scientist for his local police department. He reads comics. He's late. He's one of the most iconic characters in comics as far as I'm concerned.

:sbr:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :woot: lol

Ya Huh.

And in 20 years when some other nostalgic *****e takes over and wants to take everything back to the post-Crisis days when comics were teh awesome and Barry takes another dirt nap, know that I'm telling you now....Na Nana Boo Boo, stick your head in doo doo. :o

We all (well a whole hell of a lot of us anyway) would like to think of ourselves being in the elite ranks of the great heroes of the DCU. Just like when we are in high school and think "I'm gonna date/marry a supermodel some day!" But even when I was younger I never thought I could be a Superman or a Batman. So who do I think I would be in the DCU? Please don't laugh..... JOSE DELGADO, AKA GANGBUSTER. A man's got to know his limitations.

BTW this thread always makes me think of a joke in a Simpson's comic from 6-7yrs ago. COMIC BOOK GUY: "I wanted to be a MARTIAN MANHUNTER but it turns out I'm just a HAL JORDAN!"

I thought this was an interesting topic, so I googled "Which DC character are you most similar to?" quiz. My answers on the whole were nothing more than morally ambiguous. I answered yes to "would you kill people" because I assumed that they meant "if necessary." Mostly I indicated that I would be a hero who would be willing to resort to extreme measures like killing or manipulation if necessary.

And they gave me...

The Joker.

Are you effing kidding me? I give answers that basically state I'm a morally ambiguous antihero and you label me the most evil force in the universe? What a bunch of prudes.

My first thought was "How is that even possible? I put 'strong disagree' to the question 'Do you hate Batman?' " but then I realized that that would probably also be the Joker's answer, since he actually loves Batman. So maybe that had a part in it.

LOL!

Well, hopefully they'll make better creative decisions and they can all coexist. I don't think they should have killed him in the first place. Lol.

I miss post-crisis Superman (Byrne Supes was my favorite until Birthright, now it's a very close second).

Lmao.

In reality though I'd probably end up being Snapper Carr. lol

(although I couldn't snap my fingers until my teens...pathetic, I know... :o )

Who wouldn't want to be Snapper? All the coolness of hanging with the freakin' JLA, but none of the pressure or danger of all that superhero stuff.

Snapper and Rick Jones need to be the focus of a crossover mini where much of the time they just bum around their universes crashing on the couches of various heroes.

BATMAN: What's up with this phone bill. I don't even know anybody in Las Vegas?

MR. FANTASTIC: I clearly labeled the left overs from Saturday with my name. Yet the Tupperware I made from unstable molecules to store them in are gone... Strange.

-Superman
-GL John Stewart
-Steel
-Superboy

I've given this a lot of thought. I would be Superman. I could fly, never be sick and pork Lois Lane every night. What's not to love?

Heroes:
-Black Lightning
-Icon
-Superman
-John Stewart
-Batwing (Luke not David; I liked David more as a character but Luke has a pretty sweet life and hot girlfriend).
-Steel

Villains:
-Black Manta
-Lex Luthor
-Vandal Savage
-Amanda Waller (a guy version)
-General Zod
-Brainiac

Though in reality I'm probably a very less intrepid and much fatter Ron Troupe.

Sinestro. The Training Day style bad cop version of the character.

"GORILLA GRODD AIN'T GOT **** ON ME!"
