Im writing a Green Lantern script!

the only way in my eyes to do justice to GL is to make it a trilogy

Have the first film a set up story with the origin played out, with Hal finding Abin Sur getting the ring, learning all about the corps, guardians and oa then defeating Sinestro.

The second Mongul tears through the galaxy with warlworld and destroys coast city, sending Hal mad making him kill mongul and becoming parallax, the movie could end with Kyle getting the ring (empire strikes back type bummer ending).

Part three would be Kyle learning his powers and stopping Hal,who would eventually be redeemed when he discovers he is host to the parallax parasite and gets free of it and he and Kyle destroy it.

Thats how i would love to see it...will never happen though

i was just about to say that....i think the best story line for a GL film wouldnt be the whole using his power to destroy Sinestro or whatever it would be him accepting the human side of his responsibility when Coast City gets destroyed....that would be amazing to see....

i always imagined GL could be a trilogy not unlike Star wars-if only Warners realised this and had the vision and balls!

Ive decied that with no actual movement on the project, Im going to sit down and write a Green Lantern script myself. I have written treatments with both Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner, so now all I must do is pick one and move on to the scripting stages. Im not following and particular comic book storyline, I will be taking these characters and putting my own spin on it, for better or worse. Regardless of which character I choose, there will be NO Parallax.

Were you really writing a Green Lanter script?

Everyone's written a GL script. I've written five.

lol I was just about to say the same thing.

I'm working on my own GL script at the moment = Hal Jordan, setting up his downfall to P-Lax. No stupid mind control bugs or anything, simply a hero who loses his way.

Not in the first movie though. Just showing hints of the road to come.

And I also plan on giving this a pitch to Warners.

May the best man win.

Not to be a wet blanket, but WB clearly doesn't want to make GREEN LANTERN anytime soon. I'd love to read any completed scripts anyone has and isn't selling to WB, though. I love GL scripts.

Hi, I'm Venom420, and I sold out. It was almost a year ago I created this thread, and I figure that I my as well update it. The script has been sold, for a very, very, very, small amount of cash, and the script has been buried. At the moment, there is zero interest in a solo GL movie. I took the money.

In the last year, I've moved away from screenwriting, and I've been pushed in the direction of writing my own novels, which I find a much happier process, and that honestly, I'm better at it. I get to write what I want, I play around with concepts, I take my characters in the direction that I want. I want write a novel for as many genres as I can. I haven't been on this site in for nearly eight months because I've actually been WORKING!

My first big release is Tuesday, December 4th, and the book is called Weekend Warriors, and it's a comedy that is slightly based off my college years at Ohio University, where the weekend started on Thursday night, also known as Thirsty Thursday, due to little or no classes on Friday, and it covers the lives of five college students over the course of time between Thirsty Thursday and Sunday night. It's a simple concept, not much to it, I hope and think it will get some laughs, if anyone even buys it.

The novel thats taking up most of my time at the moment is about a mentally ill Gulf War veteran returning home and trying to lead the normal life that he knows he will never have. I don't have a title yet, which is pissing off my publisher, and me. I have written a few other treatments for other novels that I have in mind. I'm playing with idea's for a romantic novel and a period piece horror novel, but I'll get to them when I get to them.

I would love to one day sit down and write BOOKS about Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash. I love Batman, but I don't really want to work with the character that much. But I would love to write a long, detailed, in-depth, character driven book about those three characters. A big, 400 page book. No pictures, just words. That would take the fun out of it for alot of you, but I'd love it. One day, I'm making this happen.

I love taking characters and putting them in a dark, bleak world, and then making them fight and scratch there way up from that dark world just to see a glimmer of the happiness and joy that can be had, the good in life. I love having the dark world, but that one ray of light. I would love to take the character of Superman, and put him in a dark, dangerous world, and feature him as that beacon of hope for the good people in the world. I think it could be really powerful if done right.

I'm much happier writing novels than screenplays. I have two bachelor degree's, one in Creative Writing and one in Telecommunications Video Production. It's sad that only one will probably be used. But I'm much happier this way, not having to deal with the bullsh^t of film studio's.

Until next time......

Does that mean you're not going to buy us a beer for helping you out?

Come on out to L.A. and I'll buy a beer and a shot! And then maybe another, and another, and another............

What bar? I can be there within a half hour or so and maybe I'll buy you a drink.

Can't do it today, I'm filming a wedding for some extra cash.......next week?

So Venom, what was the script in question about?

holly crap!!!

I wrote a GL script too!!

it was more focused on TNF...and had large plot points of ED's as a spring board respectively. i handed it out and a lot of people enjoyed it (30 random people..all controlled...some comic shop owners some comic readers some hollywood types and some non readers)
and i wanna say about 86% enjoyed it..nice going AG high five!

So do you think they would have been interested if it had been written with an ensemble cast or they just wasn't interested in a GL film period?

So what do you think about Greg Berlanti and Co. getting the go forward on a Green Lantern movie? I though you said that there was zero intrest in a solo GL movie?

The ensemble cast is the reason they are wanting to go forward with a Green Lantern flick. They have obviously seen something they like in the character due to the JLA script and now wish to go forward with it, finally. It is rather shocking that a Berlanti is attached already, but I still believe WB wants to make a one off JLA film and then launch WW, GL, and Flash into there solo movies.

It's suprising the article mentioned Hal Jordan when I believe that no matter what, John Stewart will be the Green Lantern due to WB wanting to appeal to there "urban crowd" and have a black superhero!
