I'm guessing it will have a RT score of around 28, but it will have a 100ish mill OW.

I expect either 13% or 43% on RT.com.

I'm not really sure if the critics are going to just dislike it, or despise it on a molecular level.

this movie will be visited for several reasons:

- independence day part 2
- independence day part 2
- independence day part 2.

additionally, people will visit because of:

- commander data
- ian malcolm

also, people will visit because they are curious of

- no will smith

SO, that's reason enough for it to be visitied, not at all because anybody conciders it's promising. people will visit because it's there.

personally, the trailers let me down in a sense that it seems far too much like a simple 'repeat' of ID4 but with more extreme action on which you can't concentrate.

to be fair, ID4 wasn't that great a movie, but it was simply fun and good to watch, and it had some goosebump moments. it was never scary, but it created a good atmosphere, though air force one flying in front of the giant flames was kinda....well...disappointing, lets call it that.

and the first lady did not need to die. neither did big willy.

i still see ID4 part 3 see a return of Will Smith where the crash accident did not actually kill him but he was abducted and it was covered up.

but that depends on how this one is going to work, but having seen a giant alien, i'm kinda really let down.

I'll be preordering tickets for this ***** this week.

Well, if this bombs, it may stop Devlin & Emmerich's plans to reboot Stargate, which I'm mixed on.

Reactions seem to be getting out. Independence Day is without a doubt the worst film I've seen this year, it's spectacle is only a shadow in what is the most muddled, horribly acted, nonsensical film I've seen in quite a while. The writing is bad. I mean bad.

So money will be made.

Terry babe, I love you but you are overestimating the interest in Independence Day Resurgence.

We'll see. :o I'm just desperate for something else to actually do decent business aside from the one lone movie this summer.

Don't get me wrong I don't think that IDR is going to do Fantastic Four bad or anything but I don't see it doing anything special either. 140-175mil. That wouldn't be awful but it would be way down from the original. And the international box office is a wildcard. Could do 350- could do 450mil. Who knows?

Did you like the original?

On this page Crosswind gave the original a 6.5 out of 10, said it was only a 'fine' film where, while entertaining, nothing at all stood out about it.

Basically, those who thought the first was just average or okay and not a significant 90s film - you're going to think the same thing again with this film and worse of it because there's no way it can match the first. If you're a fan and loved the first film and consider it a significant 90s film - the jury's still out. But, both are bound to have different opinions on it from the start. As someone who loved the first, I'm expecting just a 7/10 and will be more than happy with an 8 - my 7/10 however would be the equivalent of Crosswind's 3.5/10. Or I'm expecting a Jurassic Park -> Jurassic Park III leap, but would love closer to Jurassic Park II (a sequel that actually shares a lot in common with this film - taking away one part of the Jeff Goldblum and duo of an original (which is actually find with me since his character in JP and ID4 was my favorite character actually)).

I think the lack of any real main attractions these past couple weeks for the teenager/middle-aged crowd is going to benefit them. At least for the first 2 weeks.

People want to go out during this time of the year and the must-see bombastic action film slot hasn't really been filled yet.

I loved the first one as a kid but I have no intention of seeing this in theaters. If they got Will Smith back I would have been excited, but his absence along with the generic trailers have done nothing for me.

Yeah I was just listening on Collider Movie Talk and Harloff said that the word is that people are saying this is awful and that they aren't screening it.

I just wanna know if it delivers on a spectacle level. That's all I want to know. I assume from the trailers that Jesse T Usher won't be good, but I just wanna know is it fun.

I'd actually be looking less forward to it if Emmerich and Devlin weren't back.

Well, Shallows is also playing.
