Independence Day 2? - Part 1

So seemingly up to now a better critical reception than most of this year's summer blockbuster. This implied to me (though I have never thought otherwise) that the brain still have to be left behind the door. Guess I'll find out.

In one review it says one scene is a girl (from the bus) runs to get her dog and Goldblum notes "she went back for the dog?" Lol. Unsure about exact wording, but excellent throw back imo.

Wow. I really wasn't expecting a callback to him.

They didn't go back for the dog though, the dog ran away from the explosions to find his masters in the safe room.

This is the movie equivalent of going out to a strip club and getting boobs in your face, doing some shots when you know damn well your body can't handle it anymore, etc. You're not doing it for intellectual stimulation. I'm going to see this for the reason I play Doom.

Doom is a guilty pleasure for me.

The Doom comparison is kind of odd. Doom is vulgar and violent in presentation, but from a design perspective it's one of the most revolutionary and influential video games of all time.

Beyond hyped. Just watched the first one again blu ray 3D. Then got the prequel comics to Resurgence to catch up on. Can't come soon enough!

That's a pretty high expectation with Roland Emmerich steering the ship. It'd have to score markably higher than the original to do that.

About the spoiler, its not a death, but its a big plot development that isnt hinted at in any of the marketing material that Ive seen. Its something that I would have preferred not to know before watching the film.

I won't be reading it then, I can wait two days.

This is the type of film where you don't expect anything more than dumb fun. If it delivers that than it satisfies expectations.

Why? Cause the original Independence Day film is like that to me. That film and Jurassic World might both have different Rottentomatoes scores, but i don't find their quality different. Was a fresh rating too much to ask? Seriously?

Not saying Rottentomatoes is always right, but with these blockbusters, i think their scores usualy give a decent perspective on what to expect. Being at 42% this early in the game is usualy a bad sign.
