Shia's really grown on me. I used to think he was just another annoying Disney kid who would fade into obscurity, but he can actually lead a film as Transformers proved. What I think could really push him into super leading man status would actually be if he could take down the sarcastic nerdy act a notch. Not that I don't like it, but it will get old and most leading men have to show the ability to be strong as well as funny and relatable (Ford is a prime example of that). Since we know that Shia's Indy charcter is a greaser, therefore "cool", and he's in another new action flick that could help.

so true

He has stopped the Star Wars films. True, there will always be loads of Star Wars spin-offs, but he has finished the films. And there hasn't been an Indiana Jones film since 1989.

he stopped them 3 films too late.

i'm definitely looking forward to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but i have my reservations as to whether it's going to be any good. and i certainly have no interest in watching shia pretend to be indiana jones in a new series

Everyone < Firewall < Mr. Baseball

(in James Lipton voice) If you haven't seen Mr. Baseball...rent it. Buy it. Watch it a thousand times, and place it in a vault, willing it to your grandchildren on your deathbed so that they may watch it a thousand times in turn.

I think Ford gets a lot more crap for the movies he makes than he deserves. Eastwood was really making some turkeys from 1995 til 2002, and Connery...well, he's made more than his share.

Have they had characters/movies like Indy? Bond doesn't count because Connery got replaced.

Clint Eastwood was Dirty Harry. And I don't see why it matters that someone else played Bond after Connery, so unless you can motivate that...

Anyone can play Bond, he doesn't have an memorable actors to the casual fan.

i think the only way we can constantly recast bond is they did a new bond all the time in the 60s switching between Connery, Moore, even Lazenby. so switching isnt a big deal... heck, even Spielberg wanted to recast Indy at one point so every few yrs or so there could be a huge amount of Indy movies (like there are bond movies). if they didnt use harrison in indy3 i think you could recast indy - but you cant anymore. which is fine, because ford is awesome...

Why would there be any reason to recast Ford? Unless you are portraying a younger Indy like River Phoenix did. Also I dont see many young archeaologists kicking rocks. Its an old farts profession.

Is it me or has this thread suddenly become complete nonsense? I didn't understand any of the last seven or so posts.

Why so worried? We've known there was a crystal skeleton in KINGDOM since CHUD.com reported it many, many months ago. And, personally, the idea of a crystal skeleton strikes me as pretty interesting.

worried cause action figure suggests that it will at some stange move

It's not characterized as an "action figure" on the packaging. The Indiana Jones figure is called an action figure, by the skeleton is merely a "figure." And given that one of the other items is the Ark of the Covenant, I wouldn't expect movement.

Has a date been confirmed for a teaser or trailer yet? I know there's been a ton of speculation that something might come out for the Super Bowl, but has anyone seen confirmation?

If Shia is good & a perfect successor to Indy. I'd like 2 more sequels to have 2 trilogies as long as Ford is in them & Spielberg directs.

Exactly. I won't mind as long as Ford is in it. He can become a mentor, but still kick ass.

i dunno-
but (i think it was DISC 4 of indy dvds) that spielberg said every couple films itd be a new actor, like a bond movie series.

The whole recasting thing was the original idea, part of Spielberg's old desire to do a James Bond flick. I highly doubt he still has the same sentiment on that topic 30 years later.

I'm sure they would have recast him as River Phoenix if he had not died.....then they did the TV show with another actor....and if that show was a hit...MAYBE...maybe that actor would have become a new indy as well. Things just didn't turn out well.

But when you think about it...there's been like 5 actors that played Indy already anyway. The same amount as Bond.

I cant help but think this might be another Phantom menace, Lucas is known to be a greedy bugger. It'd be nice if the film was good (not as good as The Dark Knight but good) but i still have my reservations.

Also im sure when connery was bond people couls see no one else playing him, its the same with ford and indy, the same with Keaton and Batman. Though i think when Ford gives up so will the character.

But that just brings me back to Lucas being a greedy bugger.

I still have confidence in this film because of Spielberg. I know some will say, well "The Lost World" disappointed, but then I think he didn't want to make the lost world, but he sure as hell wanted to make this. I think it'll be good, we all just have to look forward to what the trailer shows us.

I think Lucas will kick the bucket before Ford.
