Yes, she could tell the difference...if its noticible. But they really dont give a ****. They dont. The average movie goer is average.

I think you are doing the average movie goer a disservice. I think the average joe can spot;
good editing from bad editing
good cinematography from bad cinematography
they need when a movie is too long
they can probably tell a good story from a bad story (I'm not talking telling the difference between an original from a derivative story, that's something else entirely).
I assure you sir, they do not know the difference. It is like myself and a good romance novel. I can say what i find interesting about it but I could not spot a good one if my life depended on it, it is not my field of expertise.

Having studied it and watched average peoples reaction, they really could careless they just know what they like whether its good or bad.

Is Tarantino still going ahead with the prequel that will focus on a black squad of "Basterds"? I can already taste another iconic Samuel L. performance.

I thought the movie was good but overall not worth a second viewing. one of my big complaints was having to read subtitles the whole time. I got mad too with how the main girl just dies towards the end instead of getting her revenge on the jew hunter. we spend all this time getting to know here for no payoff.

She still killed a cinema full of Nazi's.

And personally, I think this film warrants more viewings. It just got better and better for me after I watched it a few times.

Gah, I still need to watch this again. I have a ****load of movies I still need to watch on my queue but I'm eager to watch this again.

Finally saw this yesterday. HOLY CRAP! I think Shoshanna's story was the best, and I totally didn't expect for what happened to Von Hammersmark to happen, and was sad when Fassbender got offed.
And I'm strangely attracted to Eli Roth...

That's a stupid complaint. So you had to actually pay attention to the screen the whole time. Big damn deal.

YEah comments like that worry me. The movie's brilliance is partially due to the use of actual linguistics and cultural differences between the warring nations. If you have everyone speaking actual French, German, Italian, etc., how are English-only speaking Americans going to understand what is going on.

And if you don't think Shosanna got her revenge, you need to rewatch the movie. Through cinema she lived again and her movie killed the Third Reich. The power of film.

If you missed the payoff, you missed the movie.

Her face projected on the smoke of the burning cinema, is the payoff.

the power of cinema is that you can make your mark, even after you yourself are gone

I watch every movie with Subtitles. They are just words.......

That would be awesome right their. Will it take place in th 1940s still?

I wish Tarantino would've kept the subtitles going instead of switching to English at the end. Zoller and Shoshana speaking English on the screen was rather odd.

Christoph just won the Golden Globe for best actor(or was it supporting). Sorry if I'm late on this news due to being on the west coast.

Wooo Christoph best suppporting actor. In my opinion he is the only good thing about this movie and the only reason its watchable. I'm a huge Tarantino fan and I just did not enjoy this movie one bit except for Christoph

Awesome that he won. Tarantino should have won for screenplay. Up In The Air was good, but that movie played it too safe. Wasn't as ambitious and risky as Basterds was. Well that's just in my opinion.
