The Dark Knight Interview with Nolan and Oldman (SPOILER!)

It's not an allusion if you say "The Riddler will be in the next film".

Methinks Oldman is toying with foolish reporters.

this is such a poorly written article that it actually hurt to read it.
all the guys info is wrong, the first sentence is completely off. how does a guy work for a movie website and get actors mixed up. thats really sad.

and also, what a prick to go around asking if their going to replace ledger. the second film isnt even out yet, wait a little.

this is a sad sad article, a monkey couldve produced something better.

What he said..

Doesn't seem legit to me. I'd say all the press now would be centered around promoting TDK not speculating cast and characters for number three. Seriously. It just reads like a fake.

Then somebody is going to have a lawsuit on their hands.

I doubt it's a fake.

When I asked if he, himself, wanted to come back for a third segment, he smiled coyly, "We don't really know if Nolan is coming back." He then shook his head. "I guess I have to come back." He then put his hand to the side of his mouth as if to hide the next line from everybody, "Nolan will come back for a third one. I think we all have to." It is well known that Oldman tried to get out of appearing in The Dark Knight, but his contract wouldn't allow it.
I think that he has a contract or at least he feels the obligation to his character to complete his work.
Oldman then took a moment to think about it some more, "Maybe we don't need the Joker. Because we'll have The Riddler." Yes, Oldman alluded to the fact that The Riddler may in fact be the next on-screen Batman villain.
I think he is joking. Please dont start making threads about this cause i really think that what he meant is that they could replace the joker with some other supervillain. When the actors of the TDK only read their own lines and not the entire script, do you really think that they were let to know who is gonna be the villain in the third movie?

Unless....we see the Riddler rising at the end of TDK.

If i can speak for myself, i would like to see the joker in the third film. This joker is so great and one film isnt enough. Someone else could take the mantle and Nolan could use the joker in the second film. Its not like his Joker would stay in Arkham for long, and even if he did, the walls and the rest of the inmates would really feel his presence. This dude doesnt go unnoticed and you just cant instantly erase him.

wouldn't it have been all over the net by now if the riddler is alluded to in dark knight?

It's hard to tell because it's written and I can't actually HEAR how the reporter was talking but that interview came across really, really rude and irritating.

I really hope the riddler is not in the next one.

After watching Gotham Knight I really think if there is another Batman film (not necessarily a Nolan film) the main villain has to be Deadshot.

I think Oldman cited Voldemort and the writer mistakenly associated the character with him.

If it's fake then the writer has to write a retraction and letter of apology or get his and Movieweb's ass kicked by WB. Journalists are not allowed to just make up quotes like that and pretend they talked to people. They can take things out of context and misrepresents quotes but that's not what's happening here.

Not on the internet.

Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, The Joker and Two-Face are all badass villains. But The Riddler is just plain boring. Bring some other villain.

I dont trust this interview. Why would Oldman know that the Riddler would be in the third if Nolan doesnt even have any plans yet?!

He's probably just saying that you don't need the Joker to have a good villain in the next film.

"Nolan will come back for a third one.

Both Oldman and Bale have basically claimed this. I really hope they're right, Nolan really should at least finish Batman's character arc.

come on guys it is totally fake
...Oldman does not even play Voldemort, Ralph Feines does; Oldam played Sirius(sp?) Black

How is it fake when Oldman's manager said that his quote in this article was taken out of context??

Taken from /Film.com regarding the article:
Update: Producer Douglas Urbanski, who is a friend/manager of Oldman, has contacted Slashfilm to say that he was with the actor at the time and believes the following quotes were “taken widely out of context.”

but if the riddler is in the next movie, you know batman will def. be more of a detective than ever because of the riddler, which will be sweet. since its nolan, i can see a crazy csi-gritty type crime scene w/ riddles and stuff for batman

Hmm, err... It says Sirius Black not Voldemort. Where are you guys reading this?

I think that all of us fanboys would love to see that come to fruition.

However, I don't know how interesting it would be for the general film public?

Ask anyone who read this earlier it said Voldemort. Now the writer really screwed up though. I could accept that Oldman was talking about the villain from Harry Potter the writer mistakenly associate Oldman with the character. But now there is no way Oldman was telling people Sirius Black scares little children.

They set up Anthony Michael Hall as the Riddler, go watch the latest Gotham tonight on comcast, his rant on Batman screams riddler, the last shot of the movie confirms it anyway.

What's the last shot of the movie?
