The Dark Knight Rises Oldman and Nolan on the 3-th movie(possible villain hint)

I heard about Depp finishing Ledger's role in that film.
You really think that he'd be keen to be the Joker? I always thought that he wouldn't have any part of it.

^I don't see why he wouldn't . . . that role seems right up his alley; he's the true embodiement of a character actor, afterall . . .

Depp's Joker would just be a nastier Jack Sparrow. Who was already a more eccentric Ed Wood/Raoul Duke/Willy Wonka. Johnny's great but c'mon it would just be more of the same

^I disagree . . . although I've never seen Ed Wood, I wouldn't compare his Wonka to his Jack Sparrow in any capacity; nor to that of his Hunter S. Thompson . . . if anything, his Jack Sparrow was closest to his Fear and Loathing role . . .

I'm really not sure how I feel about the whole Joker recasting anyway . . . I don't think I want him recast . . . but if he WERE recast, I would entrust Depp to bring enough originality to the role while at the same time, re-imagining Heath's interpretation of the character . . . not that I'm not open to other suggestions for a recast, but if you have a better idea I'd love to hear it . . .

I'm the same, i don't really want to see the role re-cast. I'm still not really realizing that Heath has passed away. But i think to really go forward with what Nolan was planning the Joker will need to be involved in the next film.
And like you i don't really want anyone else touching the role unless it's Depp, he's the only one i trust that would do the role justice after Heath.

^I truly trust whatever Nolan's judgment will be on that issue . . . that being said, I don't think he'll recast Joker for any kind of major role; unless he really feels the need to do so to make a great movie . . .

Depp is the only person I can really think of that could pull it off, but that's not to say that Nolan might see the necessary talent in another actor; there might be some other able-bodied actor that has the chops for it . . . but considering the scope of these movies, they'll be looking for an A-lister or somebody with at least some Oscar-caliber potential . . . they're not gonna pick someone we've never heard of, that's for sure . . .

Here are a couple of things we can be sure about.....

Heath Ledger is dead - as sad as that is, its a fact.

The Joker has had his moment in the Nolan spotlight...as brilliant as it was, its done.

Now it is time to move on to the next villian - I for one would LOVE to see a more familiar to the masses, villian like The Riddler, The Penguin, Catwoman, etc.... I believe Nolan would do a fantastic job molding them to his take on the Batman World he has created in the first two films.

However, based on what I saw from BB and TDK - as long as Nolan is involved, anything we get in the 3rd will be gold.

I don't think this realy confirms riddler. I'm sure they tossed the name around but that's not a definite. They should recast joker. Heath looks great but it's a character. I want as much joker as possible. When did oldman try to get out of being gordon is there a link.

No he's comfirmed . they said the same stuff and put up here on video they said they same things to another reporter.

in fact this new posted thread report is alittle too similar.

ugh what is going on? first it's giving a hard time to post and now it makes double posts. ughhh

does any1 know the oldman trying to get out story? if so can you explain to me.

good choice with the riddler.... he is the next most realistic villain in the bunch

I like the riddler but I really want to see someone new. Ventriloquist would be a cool villain to see so would mad hatter.

^ Agreed. but even together they couldn't carry a movie.

The Riddler would be a let down after the Joker, they need to come up with someone different & better.

Why? with a good story I don't think it will be a let down.

The joker's arc is done, to recast would truly be a waste for a small scene. I don't really see why the riddler is a popular choice. I mean sure, they could probably turn him into a cool villain but he doesn't really provide a different challenge to batman. I see him as more of a secondary character because he is rather gimicky, he likes riddles, its not really scary or intimidating, its dumb.

true to the point that the riddler and the joker share some alikes with the whole maniacal insane in the membrane thing.... but the riddler could have a few tricks up his sleeve

I would rather see the penguin over the riddler at this point as a main villain. The riddler as a character would be a watered down version of the joker. What threat does he pose besides the intellectual part. Don't get me wrong I do want to see him, but not as the main villain. I could see Edward Nigma working for the police solving crimes, and than be a villain, but thats about it.

Lets get a villan that's never been on the screen before. We've seen Penguin, and as much as i like the idea for the Riddler in B3, we've seen him already too. I say put two villans like The Ventriliquist and Bane in B3. I know Bane has been seen, but still....i want to see him break Batman's back!

The film needs characters which fill roles rather than just villains, [BLACKOUT]there will need to be a new love interest[/BLACKOUT], the person serving as mayor of Gotham may change in the next film, there will be a new DA; and who in the mob will step up to rule-- or is the mob dead, is the next film less gangster and more terrorists.
