Since I started this thread Gosling was my first pick for Iron Fist and I think he would be a very good choice. Seeing these pictures here, I envision Danny Rand. Who agrees?

I prefer Hunman looks wise, but Gosling would be the best pick. He's an actor good enough to garner recognition for a really small movie (Half Nelson) and he'd bring some great intensity to the role. I doubt he'd do it though.

Gosling is a great young actor.

He does look a bit weird that big though I think.

Agreed. About him not wanting to do it though, who knows. He just signed on to do a comedy, why not a superhero movie? :awesome:

I think the way he is would be the right look for Rand.

Personally I like the idea of Ray Park... BUT we haven't really had a chance to see him really act yet (or at lest I haven't), so I'm not completely sure, aside from him Gossling or Christensen both sound good to me

I hope one of these "smaller Marvel films" happens to be Iron Fist, based on The Immortal Iron Fist series. :D

Same here, the Immortal Iron Fist story would be the ideal one for the movie.

I can just picture a scene like this happening in the movie:

I just got back from Phoenix Comiccon where I had my pic taken with Ray Park. He saw me holding a copy of Iron Fist #1. Our dialogue went something as follows:

Ray: Oh, I don't think I'm up for that anymore.

Me: Would you still like to do it?

Ray: I'd like to, yeah.

Me: Can I hold this up to show my endorsement?

Ray: Yeah, definitely.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios is moving forward on a live action feature version of Iron Fist, hiring screenwriter Rich Wilkes to draft a movie based on a martial arts expert whose battle with a dragon--ended when he plunged his hands through the beast's molten heart--turned his fists into indestructible weapons. Iron Fist was on the minds of many fanboys when Disney paid $4 billion for Marvel's 5000 superhero library and vowed to turn the less obvious comic book heroes into films and TV properties. Marvel tried to make an Iron Fist movie with Artisan nearly a decade ago, as a vehicle for X-Men villain and martial arts expert Ray Park. The Iron Fist comic book mythology was created by Ray Thomas and Gil Kane in the 1970s, when the popularity of martial arts films was on the rise.
Iron Fist was among a bunch of Marvel superhero properties scattered around Hollywood. While tent poles like X-Men, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four and a handful of others remain at other studios, Marvel has recaptured rights to many wayward properties and Kevin Feige is hitting the reset button on a bunch of them. Marvel recently began work on Dr. Strange, hiring Conan scribes Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to generate a film from a superhero property that four studios tried to crack over the years. Both Iron Fist and Dr. Strange will be distributed by Disney. Marvel Studios has four more films under the preexisting distribution deal with Paramount, and those will include Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, and the Robert Downey Jr.-starrer Iron Man 3. The final film will likely be the Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers, though Marvel is separately working on the youth-oriented Runaways and Ant-Man.
Wilkes is best known for writing the original XXX film that launched a franchise around Vin Diesel's extreme sports hero character. He also scripted the Motley Crue biopic The Dirt, which Paramount just put into turnaround, and he wrote Ballad of the Whiskey Robber for Johnny Depp and Graham King. Wilkes is repped by Verve.

I don't worry about the writers on these movies really. It's all about the director and studio. There'll be a million rewrites, it's just cool that they're getting moving on the smaller stories and characters, as well as more magic and fantastical elements of the MCU.

not best to look at past scripts hell Zak Penn(Elektra,X3) wrote Incredible Hulk

Thor Screen writer Don Payne(My Super Ex-Girlfriend,4: Rise of the Silver Surfer)

even the captain america screen writers only wrote Narnia films

anyways what about Ryan Phillipe for Iron Fist he is a black belt in Tae Kwan Do

I like me some Jason Statham. The question being which Marvel character would be his best fit? He could be a credible Danny Rand/Iron Fist.

Ryan Phillipe looks good (above), can he handle the acting?

Statham might be too old for Danny, now I think on it. Maybe He'd make a good Moon Knight.

Thank god! Marvel has confirmed work on this. Now, they need to confirm Park as the main stunt actor. He's been wanting to do this for a while & he's a great martial artist, so Marvel should throw him a bone.

They need to get someone else for the acting part though.

he might work i only said ryan due to his martial arts background on top of being a solid actor

I endorse Ryan Gosling. He is a terrific actor. This should really focus on the Immortal Iron Fist series. There's plenty of material there to work with.

Not a reader of Iron Fist, but I just saw that they hired the writer of xXX as the writer. My condolences.

But I think Charlie Hunham (Sons or Anarchy) or Cam Gigandet (Priest) would be good

marvel does'nt pick based off past work imo they usually meet with them and such thor writer and incredible hulk writer collectively made -

my super ex girlfriend
F4:rise of silver surfer
Elektra
X3

Yeah but I dont find any of those films as bad as the xXx films :oldrazz:

But I hope he does a good job. His track record isnt that strong though
