Iron Fist Iron fist Costume thread

LOL!!!! His radar sense makes him keenly aware of fashion :woot:

He'd think only a blind man would wear what he's wearing. :o

And if there is any time to course correct with Defenders, then won't it be glaringly obvious? Are we suddenly going to see Iron Fist wearing his costume at all times for no explicable reason to compensate? He'll go from not wearing at all to wearing it to sleep, in a board meeting, on a date, in the shower etc.

Once again they can't. The episodes were already written and they already started filming.

Episodes can be rewritten during filming, pickup shots added, etc. I don't think that's likely at all, but "can't" is a bit strong.

Not gonna lie, I don't think a yellow mask would've worked. I'm racking my brain to picture a respectable adaptation. The best I can imagine is a tan or off-white color to match some tan or off-white trim on a forest green Gi. But then, I'm no costume designer.

If we go with the yellow-green robes he's wearing in the flashbacks from K'un Lun (seen in the trailer), I think a mask of the same color would be fine. If we go for a more forest green costume, I think a gold mask would work. Make the fabric a bit thicker (a lot of cosplay seem to use something very thin, which makes it look cheap in quality).

Kinda agree

But as you said, I'm not a costume designer. I think someone couldve made it work.

You know what's gonna be weird, and so many costumes have it, without the white eyes I think the mask may look weird too. Same with GL, but with GL they can make it work better I think

The fact they incorporate a yellow/gold robe in K'un Lun they could have easily have used fabric from that as his mask. Maybe his robe gets ripped to shreds but in honor of his training with the combination of a need to hide his identity he uses the last remnants of his robe to cover his face. That is one solution.

I hope Matt gives Danny his old Season 1 costume in the Defenders and tells him to dye it accordingly.

Remember the dark days when Hollywood was ashamed of featuring some of the more fantastical elements in comicbook movie/tv adaptions as there was a perception that they were 'Hyde that attitude was a thing of the past but it seems that Scott Buck et al seem to be of that school of thought.

I remember for a brief period of time after X-Men came out and that excuse was used and just before Spider-man was being worked on, people/certain fans were on message boards already making excuses for Spider-man not having a comic-accurate costume and how it would not work. It was ridiculous.

Of course the movie came out and way before that, it came out that the costume to be used would be comic-accurate, and that talk stopped abrumptly, but it didn't change the fact before that happened, people were making excuses for why it couldn't happen.

Point blank, you don't know what won't work until you try it, to think otherwise is just personal limitation as because one person can't see how to bring it forward doesn't make the task impossible or unworthy.

You think they are going to spend money on reshoots to make sure Iron Fist gets his costume if it wasn't there before?

Exactly. But it doesn't help that in some of these Marvel productions they portray a classic version of a costume to look as goofy as possible to show why it won't work on screen, like the USO first version of Captain America's costume which was comic accurate.

And then with Luke Cage, they had him say (when wearing the classic 70s costume) that "you look like a damn fool".

I remember when people thought that Iron Man's armour would never work, that he would look like a walking Academy Award.

And with Spider-Man, if people could only imagine something like this:

spidey_1977.jpg

then of course they would be dismissive, because their imagination is limited.

It seems they've overthought Iron Fist's costume this time round and it has therefore been responsible for him not having one at all because it doesn't fit the grounded, gritty tone.

But didn't Daredevil's proto costume work in Season 1?

This is Iron Fist's costume, just in the wrong colour. I would've been happy with something like this.

You would prefer a version of te Iron Fist costume that doesn't show off his tattoo?

Doesn't he wear versions that just have the same tattoo emblem on his costume?

Hopefully come Defenders Daredevil gives Danny the DDS1 costume and he just dyes it green with a yellow Iron Fist symbol on the chest.

Then later on down the line in a later season of Defenders, when DD has upgraded his costume again, he can give Iron Fist his Season 2 DD costume to dye. Iron Fist gets all of DD's hand-me-downs. :o

I still think melvin will make danny a suit similar to his own, no armor just the resistance fabric with a mask or helmet.

I truly don't care if he gets the suit or not in the first season. I kinda agree with the showrunners that for now he only needs the tattoo and some sort of mask. We see him wearing at least two makeshift masks in the trailer, so they're clearly setting it up for maybe the second season or the Defenders. For those, I'd be fine with just the Bruce Lee jumpsuit in dark green and yellow and I'm fine with waiting for the Defenders to see it. I'm not worried about that, as it doesn't actually have any influence at all on the quality of the show. From what I've been hearing, I'm more worried about the story pace and quality of the fight scenes than about Danny not wearing a suit. Cause those other things actually matter. This is probably the Marvel Netflix series that I've been the most excited for ever since they announced all of them and I just want it to be 10-13 hours of good storytelling and action. Couldn't care less if we see the suit this season or not.

Not really.

Sure, but he's been shirtless:

And worn a tracksuit:

But his original is still the one they keep coming back to:

After all, if they just wanted a comic book costume, the show comes pretty close minus the mask already.

I think a green/ yellow costume is easy to pull off, I think the REAL elephant in the room is what do you do with Danny's EYES on the mask? Would it make sense to do the "Spider-man" eyes? I don't think so. But, like Spiderman, that's one of the msot distinctive parts of Iron Fist's look. Do you just give him a yellow bandana and cut eye holes through it? Would it look good?

If you're a WWE fan, you'd say yes.
His classic attire is pretty much just like any other luchador.

While they probably made the right call to give him Spider-Man eyes, it wasn't consistent at first. Generally speaking, for close ups, it looked like this:
