Iron Man & The Hulk [Spoilers ahead!] [Beware]

And if they do pull off an Avengers, which would rock so hard core, who do you think the villian(s) would be?

The villain plethera is sort of lame. I would go Baron Helmut Zemo or Von Strucker (Nazi faction/terror group)... throw in the masters of evil. Have Hulk face off against the Avengers as well somewhere in there as well. It would be fairly complex but its the most realistic plot IMO.

I too think it will effect the chances of it. Say Hulk tanks, they can easily remove Hulk, but Captain America...? Ouch...

Not only that, but the age of the actors and the amount of films they want to make is really hurting the chance to have iconic actors like Norton and Downey on screen together.

Say they want a Hulk 2, Hulk 3, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3, as well as Captain America, Thor, and Ant man films.

By the time they actually get to the avengers it will be a freaking mess with some having aged to much / not wanting to continue with these characters.

As much as I want the Avengers, I have no idea how it will play out.

Which is why I think it will never happen. They'll make Iron Man 2 and 3 first, which I'm glad. Because let's be honest, having multiple heroes on screen at once is cool in concept but someone always gets short changed. I can't see Norton wanting to do an Avengers movie, especially after some of the conflict he had with Marvel over the direction of TIH.

I think and have always thought you get Hulk vs Iron Man BEFORE an avengers movie.

Don't tell me it can't be done :cmad:!!!

It is just a nod to fans and people are staying more and more for after the credits. I know there will be at least one Iron Man sequel (probably two), a Cap. America movie, a Thor movie and possibly more Hulk movies before there is an Avengers movie.

It is just planting the seeds for something that is probably like 7-8 years off.

I been thinking about it. I don't think I like any of the Avengers villains for a screen adaptation. Most of them are kinda far out. Every single on of them would have to have a huge makeover. Both origin and design.

Here's another cross-over tidbit...at Comic con there was some footage shown with dialogue between Ross and Blonksy, discussing the "Super Soldier" (yes it's called that by name) program of World War 2...:star:

And there's a reason for that.

That is the formula that Blonsky is injected with in the film early on after the first confrontation with the Hulk in the bottling plant. This is how he survives being kicked by Hulk during the second confrontation at Betty's college.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - ARMY MEDICAL LABS - SAME

After hours and off the books. Ross supervises as Blonsky gets
his first injection of the Super Soldier serum. TWO MEDICAL TECHS
make the preparations.

MEDICAL TECH
"You’ll get two separate infusions,
dripped in very slowly. One into the deep
muscle, one into bone marrow centers.
The bone ones are going to hurt."

ROSS
"We’re giving you a very low dose only. I
need you sharp out there, disciplined.
First side of any side effect and we stop
and you’re off team until you straighten
out. Agreed?"

Blonsky nods again. He’s committed.

That's why HYDRA are probably the best villains... as far as muscle power... the bad guys would obviously be matched outmatched by a hero like Thor... maybe Hulk could go bad sometime in the beginning to balance that. I like Ultron as well... maybe the terrorists get a hold of Pym's robot plans and unleash them out on the Avengers. Kang would be a very poor choice IMO. Thing is... it might be a good idea to do a SHIELD movie so you can develop those bad guys before having to shove everyone in for Avengers. So then we'd basically need four additional separate movies on top of IM and Hulk. That's why I am only cautiously optimistic.

Thank you.

I'm going to go see the Hulk film it looks good. But I didn't know Tony Stark/Iron Man would appear in the ending credits that makes me even more excited.

I think its clear now that one of Marvel Studios biggest goals is to mix all the characters into one dimension. Up until now, each superhero movie has been in its own universe.
Marvel obviously wants to have a new twist on its movies as a whole.

To me this seems like a huge task. If I am reading it right, they will have all of the avengers in thier own movie. Then, bring them together. Sounds simple enough, but I think that's going to be an ardous task for them.
For example, Iron man is going to be a hit. Hopefully, Hulk will too. But say Thor and Captain America flop. That would be a huge impact on the Avengers movie.

What do you guys think?

I agree in theory it is tough

but like you ask what if Thor is a flopp? Until now i doubt that Iron Man was all that more well known than Thor was to the general movie going public that have no or little clue about comic books. Thor might get more of the mythology rube guys like 300 had too.

essentially though, my point is, if you make something that looks tight, it does not matter how well known the character is

now spiderman is a bit different of a story i'll give you that, but i am willing to say anything outside of that

the hulk element is a must imo he is clearly one of the most interesting wrinkles in a superhero group ever.

i think if Captain America is sweet i would be cool with Red Skull like ressurected and assembles a super villains team or something

Very ture.

On a side note, why does Boston use the same riff in almost everyone of their songs?

I agree, I think if a movie looks promising, people will see it. The trailers for Iron Man all looked as good, as the movie turned out. People wanted to see IM on the strength that it looked like a good movie, the big plus was that it was an excellent movie.

Most movies, in general are filled with unknown characters to the general public. If something looks interesting, people will want to see it. If it's any good people will talk.

And yes being a household name can help.

Aren't they going Ultimate Universe with all of this meaning an Ultimate origin for the Avengers and an Ultimate villain.

I too think it will effect the chances of it. Say Hulk tanks, they can easily remove Hulk, but Captain America...? Ouch...

I have to question your lack of logic here. If Hulk tanked... why remove him from an Avengers movie?

My guess as to your thinking is this: "OMG, if Hulk was bad, people wouldn't want to go see him in another movie!"

That kind of thinking works if you are thinking about a Hulk sequel. But in a team movie, people want to see lots of heroes. Having Hulk in there doesn't hurt the film at all because the kickass heroes (like Iron Man) will be there. So if anything, people will be attracted to see the film because (1) it's a cross-over and (2) they get to see the kickass hero again along with other heroes helping him.

Even if Cap's film tanked, Avengers would still go forward. And if you read about the timing of the films, Cap and Avengers will be filmed around the same time. So if Cap fails, well... it would be too late for them to stop an Avengers film anyway.

Not only that, but the age of the actors and the amount of films they want to make is really hurting the chance to have iconic actors like Norton and Downey on screen together.

This makes no sense at all. Avengers will be released in 2011. That means it will finish shooting somewhere in 2010. Are you saying that in TWO YEARS, Norton and Downey will be... lol... too old to play their parts?

Two years is not a long time. I don't know why you're complaining as if it is.

Say they want a Hulk 2, Hulk 3, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3, as well as Captain America, Thor, and Ant man films.

No, Avengers is set to come before Hulk 2 and Iron Man 3.

So before Avengers, we'll see Thor and Iron Man 2 in 2010... Ant-Man (no date released yet)... and a Captain America movie that will come out a month or so before Avengers.

That's not a lot of movies at all.

By the time they actually get to the avengers it will be a freaking mess with some having aged to much / not wanting to continue with these characters.

Once again, you come up with this crazy "age" thing. In the span of 2 years, people don't age that much. Ian McKellan played Magneto in 3 movies that were spaced out over the course of 7 years. SEVEN YEARS!? Surely McKellan died before #3 was complete!!!!

Oh wait, Magneto looked fine in all 3 films. So I think Downey and Norton... over the course of TWO years... will look just peachy keen. :woot:

As for "not wanting to continue", Norton will be contractually obligated to star in a second film, and Avengers is coming out before any Hulk sequel is planned (at least this is the plan so far). But in any case, Norton seems to enjoy the role and took an active part in creating it. I think it's safe to say he'd be willing to do one or two more.

And Downey was locked in for two IM movies, but has now said he'd be willing to do many more because he had fun making the first.

As much as I want the Avengers, I have no idea how it will play out.

It will probably play out as a movie where all the heroes fight together. :woot:

No time will need to be wasted on establishing each hero's origin... that's what all these solo films are doing. Hell, the solo films are even including after-the-credits scenes that let people know "these heroes might be working together in the future".

So all Avengers has to do is have a reason for all the heroes to fight together. So the film will need to create a common enemy for the heroes, and then the heroes team-up to take the threat out. Add in some great special FX and dialogue, and the movie will do fine.

My guess is that Tony asks Bruce if he has ever heard of the Avenger Initiative much like Nick Fury asked to Tony

That would be all kinds of boring lol. Hope he does something a bit more constructive

Saw Iron Man last night (great movie btw), and very glad I stayed for the post credits scene. From a comic fan's pov that was a definite hell yes!! moment, though non comic fans would be none the wiser as to why that actor and character combo was such a damn cool thing for Marvel to have done (I had to explain it to the lady I saw the film with).

As regards a future Avengers movie...I think Marvel are just putting the option out there, connecting the properties they control in this subtle manner so a future crossover would not seem forced: The seeds are planted, and they can either work with or ignore them completely down the line.

Another thing to consider is Captain America. Now don't get me wrong, I like him, but he would be a tough sell outside of the US.
However, Marvel might just be pulling a rather clever stunt here: By generating a connection to Rogers with these films first (I would imagine Thor could have a subtle link thrown in too, and Sub-Mariner could/should definitely have one if they make that one first) they could be establishing a greater interest for the Cap character internationally than he might have had otherwise....Just a thought.

It would be great if it happens but I really hope they would do it the 616 way and not the Ultimate way which had Shield forming the Avengers.

I was surprised Marvel didn't take more advantage of this by placing crumbs for TIH in IM.

Nothing distracting, but a newspaper headline showing Norton's face with a headline like "Scientist Still Missing" would have been sweet.

Simple question.

Why is Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark having a role in this movie?

Do some movie guys have some ideas in their heads for a superhero crossover in the future? Laying the seads for an Avengers movie?

It is just to show that the superhero movie is all conected as in it is a universe. plus
Nick fury is in Iron Man talking about the Avengers Project

i guess you're not up on the latest avengers film news kaine.

on top of estabilishing a shared universe i heard these cameos can lead to cross promotion in interviews.

Yeah I just read up on the scene after the credits in Iron Man...

Spoilers for Iron Man...

Sam Jackson as Nick Fury approaches Stark and says "I want to talk to you about the Avengers initiative

And I just saw Iron Man yesterday. If I had only known there was a scene after the credits!!!
