Iron Man Iron Man to Open Earlier?

Has it?
The front page just moved that news to first, and I saw nothing different with it... Odd.

It has been confirmed the date is going to stay the same.

Yep.
Sources at Paramount have informed us that the domestic release date of 'Iron Man' has not changed and remains May 2, 2008. Paramount Pictures International and Marvel will release the film in numerous international markets on April 30, 2008.

All it sounds like is that they mixed up the news for the international territories, but it still comes out here wide May 2nd.

While I may be late responding to this news, is it really that big a deal? A lot of summer movies move up their release dates to Wednesday, always seems to work out in their favor.

Comic movie fans really need to remember the past, it's always the same with every movie, everyone's incredibly worried about the marketing if they aren't bombarded with it 6-8 months before the movie opens, when 6-8 weeks is when marketing usually starts to speed up. Always worried about the release date, always predicting $100 million opening's regardless of the character, just relax, things are looking good for the movie.

Plus the studio has already targeted it's scapegoat if the movie doesn't open well, GTA4. Watching Attack of the Show last night, one of the items on the crawl at the bottom was that GTA4 could impact the box office of Iron Man since it's being released so close, much like Halo 3 being released the same week as The Heartbreak Kid affected that movie's opening box office. Only difference this movie looks pretty cool, unlike the piece of crap The Heartbreak Kid looked like.

I swear that crap game better not screw up any of the possible BO for Iron Man!:cmad:

good thing Paramount confirmed the May 2 release date, that's always a great weekend. a kickoff to the summer movie roster, and most colleges will be done

Maybe they're afraid of Indy. :indy:
Which makes no sense since Spidey didn't have to fear POTC.
