But he would attract luctrative producers.
And Cruise can play a character like Tony Stark.
Again...I'm not against another actor taking the role. I'm just explaining the advantages of Cruise.
It won't have a problem getting funding...because of the Superhero movie fad.Advanced Dark said:Iron Man won't have a problem getting funding.
Batman said:Billy Crudup.
BT18 said:Crudup has made clear he'd never take a role like Iron Man, just like he didn't take Hulk.
If Favreau is indeed interested in helming this as is a possibility from that "Marvelous" hint then you might want to look at actors he's had on Dinner for Five who also might be otherwise appropriate. They include:

Timothy Olyphant
and of course the obvious one:

PS: I don't know why a new thread was needed here. If a mod can merge this with an old one that would be appreciated.

Ronny Shade said:well it does have to do with whether he wants him in the film or not.
I hate that guy too.
ghost113 said:his look throws me off i could never see him playing a good guy.
ghost113 said:what that is the guy with the big smile right?
Um...well seeing him onscreen and hating his preformances (which is probably what we're talking about here) is waayyyy more valid for casting than hating a guy's offscreen persona. Tom Cruise is (usually) great onscreen despite maybe being an idiot in real life.Darthphere said:Ok, again. What does that have to do with his ability to play Iron Man? Nothing. And honestly I dont see that Timothy Olyphant has done anything to warrant any hatred unlike a Tom Cruise.

I thought he did a great job in WOTWAdvanced Dark said:To each his ow but the only great (acting) performances I've felt from Tom Cruise have been: Risky Business, Born on the 4th of July, Rain Man, and Jerry Maguire. And I've seen them all. War of the Worlds is as bad as acting can get as far as Tom's performance and I don't even want to get into Mission Implausible.
