Has anyone brought up Matthew Settle (Captain Ron Spiers in Band of Brothers)? He's a good actor, has the right look, and is definitely under the radar...

As a side note, he's already played a superhero in the made-for-TV atrocity "Justice League" as Guy Gardner. While the film was gawd-awful, I think he's taken his acting up a few notches since then...

Here's a shot:

I thought that Matt Dillon was a front runner a while back. He's a good choice imo. Got the right age and looks; Really good and underated actor, and unlike say Cruise, the movie wont likely to be labeled as a Matt Dillon Movie.

The only down side is that I don't remember Matt Dillon doing any action flicks in the past.

How's that a downside. That's a good thing. It'll be cool if he gets it to see him doing something fresh.

He has done some comedies and serious roles but i don't know about action films.

Not a downside at all for Matt Dillon, it would be great in his portfolio. Given the actor that he is I think he'll be able to pull it off. Not all actors today do their own stunts anyways, not to mention cgi/special effects.

I'm not commiting to being in the pro-Dillon camp just yet(for reasons of age mostly), but if he did get it and Howard does get Rhodes, then you'll have 2 actors who've worked with each other before(and fairly recently too) and that could help alot.

Or. . Robert Downey, Jr. I've brought that name up before. . but darn it he's great for the part. He can be cool, hip, intense, comedic. . He's just a darn good actor.

And he has the whole addict thing down cold.

I'm probably going to DIE for saying this....but I think that Bruno Campos would make a FANTASTIC Tony Stark.

Some people will know Bruno from Nip/Tuck, but think about it.

Bruno has looks, a deep voice, and he is muscular. It's just IMO though.

He's going to be 43 when making the movie, though he looks mid 30.

Well how old he looks is secondary in my mind. Of more concern is how the age of the actor will affect the likelyhood of him returning for sequels.

Saw an episode of Band of Brothers over the weekend - Matthew Settle could DEFINITELY pull it off.

No, no, no. This guy is perfect. *snicker*

One more. . . Ron Livingston. Dude is a cult hero for roles in Office Space and Favreau's Swingers. The guy is underrated and could really do wonders with the role.

My votes for this guy.

PS:Wow kinda funny that Band of Brothers is on the History Channel and three of the actors in the last couple days have been suggested for this role.

I agree! Speaking of B.o.B. - though he's a little bit old, I'd cast Damian Lewis as Captain America in a heartbeat. Every time I catch him in the re-runs of B.o.B., I think about what a great Cap he'd make.

I was thiking that Ed Quinn from Eureka would be a pretty good Tony Stark.

Good suggestion to "type" - I can definitely see it. I haven't caught the show - how's his acting?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures unit is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behavior, the company's chairman said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Redstone was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Well, this news can officially kill the Tom Cruise as Tony Stark rumor. THANK GOD! Paramount is still heavily involved as the distributor of the film.

Very good. He has a cool confidence about him. It is what made me think about him more than how he looks. The fact that he can fit the Tony Stark role physically is just a happy coincidence.

Another funny coincidence is this character's name on the show is Nathan Stark.

I highly recommend the show btw.
