The only problems I had with Man of Steel were the dialogue, I dunno what it is about Goyer and dialogue but man it gets a little cringe-worthy. That's why most directors re-write most of the dialogue from a Goyer script. I like Zack Snyder, he made ONE stinker (Sucker Punch) but I don't hold that against him. Each director can have a few stinkers, they all can't be winners.

Oh yes, who could forget gems like:

"They say it's all downhill after the first kiss."

"Oh my God, he's so hot!"

Seriously, read the original script for 'Batman Begins'; the dialogue is atrocious and somehow manages to be heavy-handed yet aimless all at the same time.

I loved Cavill as Superman, and have a lot of faith in Batfleck,
but the best casting choice is Eisenberg, I bet he's going to make every

See I think Conan was total crap, and that Mamoa, despite passion for the material and looking great for the part was a bad fit (or was badly directed), but not that he performed badly. Have you seen the GoT season he was on? There's a definite charisma the dude has, and he did all his acting and emoting in a made up language. Is he the best thing on the show? No. But the degree of difficulty for the part was pretty high.

That's not the point. The point is not making it LOOK like an advertisement for Warner Bros' future properties and franchise instalments - which is often an issue with superhero movie cameos.

But... Isn't the very genesis of the idea of shared Universes and team ups and cameos/guest starring, from the source material all about moving product? I just can't ever get too precious about these sort of things. JLA as a comic is designed for one purpose: To sell the DCU. To get someone that read Wonder Woman to pick up GL's book, and so on down the line. If the readership had gotten into a tither about things lacking "organic" construction back in the day none of us would have these franchises to argue about in the first place. My two cents.

Sure. But I can't find myself to be particularly interested in something that is a product (BvS) blatantly advertising a future product (JL or any other future franchise) at the expense of a proper film. However, I don't want to draw conclusions too quickly since this still might be a well-made film that manages to balance the universe-building elements within it's narrative. I don't have faith in the crew to pull this off though, and that's why I resurrected this thread.

I don't know, it's 2 years away, I can't get all that excited (or not excited) for a film that's so far away, but the more i hear, the more i see...I'm liking it all.

As for BvS, Terrio being brought on gives me a bit more hope but my overall feeling towards this is a rather profound indifference.
My 12 year old self would be sad.

Right now I only have two concerns about this movie. Ben Affleck as Batman (zero worries about him as Bruce Wayne) and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Can Affleck pull out a much darker side to his personality than we've ever seen before from him? Can he make the fight scenes believable? I'm not "dreadful" about it but I am alittle worried about him being able to really sell it as Batman. I want to see an athletic Batman that looks amazingly skilled as a fighter, even if he is older. Affleck comes off as very stiff athletically and he's never really given a strong intimidating performance. Even in possibly his darkest role, which was his character in "The Town", he was still the hopeless romantic at the end of the day. I want to see an unrelenting, focused, driven, dark, intimidating Batman that has tunnel vision on his life's mission, which is to stop "evil" in it's tracks. I'm not an Affleck hater (anymore) by any means but I do worry if he can pull off that type of character. He's a much improved actor but he's never done anything like this role before and I wonder if he has it in him. I'm not against his casting and I think he will do a good job overall, but this is Batman, simply being "good" is not enough.

As for Eisenberg, I don't even know where to begin with the concerns I have about him as Lex Luthor. There are too many to count. First, I don't think he's as good of an actor as he is hyped up to be and second, he is just absolutely nothing like any Lex Luthor incarnation, ever. Him being believable as a villain period is concerning, let alone one as iconic as Lex Luthor. Honestly, he should be playing Jimmy Olsen, not Lex Luthor. I'm not even going to bother writing up all my concerns about him, I'd be here for an hour typing. I just don't see it, at all.

Initially I was thrown off by Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman but as time has gone on I'm pretty confident she can do well. I think she has a good presence on camera. She came off as strong and confident in the Fast and Furious movies despite her lack of acting experience and shorter screen time. Skills wise she hasn't been asked to show much but I think she has an "it" factor about her that can work for Wonder Woman. Her accent will add to the character in my opinion. I'm not worried about her physique anymore, she put on enough weight to ease that concern for me, she was too skinny but now she's good enough for me. I never wanted a body builder for Wonder Woman anyway.

Momoa might not look the part as much as I would like but otherwise I really like the selection of him as Aquaman. He's extremely natural in action sequences (I've only seen him in Conan) and I think he has a strong presence on camera, isn't over dramatic or wooden. And I have absolutely zero worries about Cavill, he was excellent in Man of Steel to me, he doesn't need to change a thing.

Man of Steel was a very good movie in my opinion, extremely underrated. So the previous film gives me more confidence in this movie, not the other way around as it seems to be for most people. I like Zack Snyder so far, obviously Sucker Punch wasn't any good but every other film of his I've seen I liked. Though I tend to think Watchmen is overrated, but it has more to do with the fact that I don't care about those characters than it does the actual movie. Those characters just aren't interesting to me, the movie version or the graphic novel. Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach was awesome though.

I'm also not worried about the size of the cast or how many characters are going to be in the film. Most movies have 20 something characters in them, I know going in not everyone is going to see maximum screen time. As long as the dialogue is good and the actors give the characters justice, regardless of screen time, I'll be fine with the amount of characters in the movie. I don't need every character to have a huge story arch and every minute detail of their character explained.

Overall I'm very excited to see this movie, my biggest worry is if the villain roles will be strong enough to make the movie interesting. If the villains aren't strong enough to feel like a threat to the hero's it always kills the movie for me. Because at the end of the day we already know who's going to win, so making it feel like there is the possibility of it ending badly for the hero's in largely important for me. Otherwise it makes for a predictable and uninteresting story.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong, and right now that's all we have. So I'd say the this film has a good chance of being something like MoS, that is, a visually great film that doesn't deliver in other places.

Although maybe the new blood can improve that.

I don't think it's great at all. I have no interest in seeing those versions of either of the characters on screen, superman especially. That's not who he is. And there's no need for another lecture. I know Miller intended the characters to be different. I don't like what he did with them. I doubt there would be many superman fans who would enjoy seeing him like that.


And Snyder did say he wasn't adapting it, so here's hoping people who want such a thing are disappointed.

Tone down the snark and read my post again.
I'm commenting on how this movie will not only feature Superman and his supporting cast but introduce Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman as well as featuring Lex Luthor as a villain, and lord knows who else.
That's a tall order for any film maker, yet alone someone like Snyder who's films have been questionable in the past.
As I said, none will have the chance to breathe. Someone is bound to receive the short end of the stick. I understand Cyborg and Aquaman have nothing but cameos but they already have a ton of plates spinning in the air already with Batman Superman and Wonder Woman, why add two more cameos?
This is starting to sound like an ASM 2 situation whether you like it or not.

Completely different scenario. The Avengers all had individual movies beforehand which fleshed out each of the main characters, which was part of the reason it was so successful.
WB is looking to do the exact opposite, and if you aren't nervous about the results then you either aren't paying attention or have more faith than I do.
As I said in my original post: I want this movie to be successful. In no way shape or form am I looking at this with any negativity or bias, but I can't help but feel nervous about the missteps they've already made and the ones it appears they are going to keep making.
