BvS Is anyone else not excited about Superman and Batman? I feel nothing but dread. - Part 2

1. It introduced us to Jor el who did play a big part in the movie, where Superman came from, the main villain, the codex and Kryptonian technology. Plus, it was just awesome to see Krypton finally.

2. If they left the fortress scene out and just had Kal say, “Okay cool, your my bad…where’s my suit?” it wouldn’t have made sense and if that happened everyone would complain that Kal didn’t even care about his past.

3. If Kal really didn’t want to save Earth he would have said yes to Zod’s plan and destroyed Earth with him. Plus, the Codex was a good plot device because it gave Zod a reason to go to Kal.

4. It had a point. It showed why Zod was so crazy and narrow minded.

5. Yeah I still don't really know why they stopped the exploration. Maybe someone else does?

6. Well, in the beginning of the film Clark is trying to found out who he is. His father told him to.

7. Well I think that in the future there will be more and more villains for him to fight.

8. Jonathon was all for Clark becoming a hero, when the time was right. “you have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be Clark because whoever that man is, he’s gonna change the world.”

9. Clark doesn’t go into exile, he’s on a journey of discovering who he is, then, when he finds out who he is, his father (Jor) tells him to be a beacon of hope for Earth and to show them the good path.

10. Jor el Vs Zod – Jor El won’t give up on his son and Zod won’t give up on finding the codex.
First Flight scene – Clark finding out his true strength and what he can be.
Smallville fight – Shows that without their helmets, the krptyonians are screwed. Superman shows that he is there to protect the people, Colonel Hardy shows that he’s a badass and won’t quit.
Terraforming scene – Character moment for Perry, Steve and Jenny. Superman saving the world and finally becoming the hero of earth, again, Colonel Hardy won’t quit and Hamilton knowing what to do.
Zod Vs Superman – Superman killing Zod was an emotional scene and will play out in other movies to come.

11. These are just mine; Superman being born, Clark finding out who he is, first flight scene, when Superman destroying the world engine, Superman showing up just at the nick of time destroying Zod’s ship just before it shot down the aircraft.

12. He saw a bit like on the news and radios n such but don’t we know that this will probably be the main plot to the next movie? Why else would Batman and Superman be fighting?

13. No arguing that, Superman’s has always been.

14. It did have a few chuckly moments sprinkled into the movie.

15. Oh man…not this again…HERE WE GO!
Oil Rig – 8 people
School Bus – around 20 people
Bar scene – Sort of saves for from being felt up by a drunk guy, 1
Scout Ship – 1
Black Zero – 1
Kent Farm – 1
Smallville – 3 (plus the whole town)
World Engine – The whole damn world
Metropolis fight – 5
So…that’s about 40 people not including the rest of the planet.
Good post, as far as point number 5, it may be left to another story to tell in full , but for now what we know is that Kryptonians did travel to and colonized other planets and the explanation for why they stopped could be the same as why America stopped going to the moon (they maybe felt that their money could be better spent on other things) for all we know.

It had never previously occurred to me that a Zack Snyder movie might be too sophisticated for some audiences.

What movie would that be? Or would the sophistication be the boom bam boom we got in MOS?

I'm sure I can remember some other things that happened in the movie, and indeed some of those other elements have been criticized over the last few pages.

^Yes, the thread where there is actual discussion as opposed to nonstop gifs and lollygagging.

I remember when the trailer description leaked and it involved the "Maybe" line. I thought the description was fake and said so. Jonathan would never say "Maybe." Then I saw it in the trailer. Followed by the film.

It didn't bother me. I expected it to. But it did not. The line was delivered with hesitation. A man who doesn't have all the answers. Even the wrong ones.

As for Smallville. I initially liked Jonathan and Martha a lot. But by season three, I found that version to be just as overprotective and maybe overbearing as this one.

It's nice to see some real, healthy discussion going on. I enjoy seeing the different opinions and how people reply. This is so much better than the perpetual lounging/nonsense going on in the All Things thread.

Great question, Batman :D

I want to mull it over before I answer the question. But in one sentence, make the movie that the MoS trailers promised us...

The All Things thread is usually consists of: A. Posting the same picture of Batfleck over and over again, B. Ganging up on either Tobias or Zryson or C. Complaining about any criticism and repeating the phrase "2 more years of this" ad nauseum.

People whine about the existence of this thread, but its more stimulating than most of the conversation of this board.

The truth, right here. 100% accurate.

How about people who continually post smilies or animated gifs as entire responses? I'm talking about those who continually do it, making up the majority of their posts. I'm not talking about those that do it every once in a while which would be normal. I still contend that off topic posting just clutters things, but I guess that's the vibe here.

I think some would rather you post off topic than criticize anything about MOS or Snyder.

Its like your posts are only acceptable if its light and fluffy, or overpraising a picture of Cavill or Affleck or MOS, etc.

I have posted some gifs in threads as a response, not always animated, i try to keep them on topic though.

I'm actually supportive of both MOS and Snyder overall to be honest, but again the vibe in here is less about discussing things and more about posting goofy unrelated crap for pages on pages at times. Voicing my concern may be a bit off topic too I suppose. Just saying. I'm not trying to be a killjoy, like I said... every once in a while is normal. Some users here do that for like 80% of their posts. Not contributing at all

It doesn't bother me in that context at all. I'm talking about users that do that for like 15 responses straight or something. Nearly all their posts are that way, gets to be pointless.

I felt the origins of Superman in MOS, much like Smallville's take, more convoluted than it ever really needed to be.

Aha, ok, i was feeling worried there for a second. I'll keep doing what im doing then. :word:

I feel like they do that because deep down, they're essentially telling the same kind of story that STM and SII already told, and they know it, so they try change the details around in a forced manner.

"The Amazing Spider Man" had the same problem, IMO.

You are good, you aren't a travesty

I can't support this. Travesty is the man, one of the few posters in that thread that I actually like.

Might I offer a suggestion?

I know this off topic, but I've seen you talk about this in a few threads. Perhaps consider ignoring the posters who's posts bother you. I know some people don't like to use the ignore function (I only have a couple people on ignore), but it's highly unlikely these posters will change their style for you.

His propensity for name calling didn't exactly make him that likeable to me. I was trying to be chummy with joking and ended up getting called names. Eh, guess it's better to just use the ignore feature than talk with someone who will always try to troll you.

Yeah I tried to work it out and joke it off, but they started into heavy trolling so guess it can't be a shake hands and start over situation. Oh well.

Which to me just says how much they don't need to go over the origin again. And if they do, keep it short and sweet. Again, after All-Star and Birthright, I'm surprised they didn't go with the standard desperate scientists pulling a Hail Mary to save their son.

I also don't like all this destiny nonsense/Clark being told what to do stuff they throw in there too.

I'm sorry to hear that....can't see Trav doing something like that for real, only sarcastically.

It's one of those things that make you realize that MOS isn't as unique as some would like you to believe.

I remember I really didn't want to see the elaborate origin story again, and MOS kinda justified my feelings.
