for those who have seen it?
@icekid

does it feel like it has a huge scope?
would you call it a good critical success?

Ohmygod how are there new threads popping up directed directly at me??? This has become absurd.

To answer your question, how about you find out for yourself in less than a month?

Because youve seen it.
Its hard to go theough one thousand posts of yours. I want to set realistic expectations before i go watch movie next month

Well then make them realistic and you might be pleasantly surprised. The parts of there to make it a good film, I cant say just how those parts are put together in its final release because I didnt see the final release. Now let's bring conversation to it's respective threads and not create new ones for no reason and definitely let's read before anything else. 1000+ posts over 13 years doesnt mean theyre all dedicated to Dark Phoenix, not by a long shot, so if you want answers let's put in some effort because I guarantee I've given them already and now it's my turn to be lazy when you're so close to the finish line.

meh doesnt sound like u found the film to be that great or exciting.
i mean i havent heard u say something like '' guys this is the best movie ever ''
so im guessing u would rate the movie as average?

waiting for your response

I won’t say anything like it’s the best movie ever because I have a broad taste in films and it’s a really juvenile statement, regardless if I think it’s true or not. That’s not me. It’s a good movie, but I saw it ages ago so where you think I lack excitement in the film is actually not. It’s just me lacking excitement in having to repeat myself on details on a 6+ month old memory of a good movie that I’m excited to see the finished version of.

I've publicly said I would rate it right with first class in terms of a good film with possibility of it beating that if the right changes were made. Simple look through my posts, hence “put in effort”, and you would have rather quickly found that, several times at that. That would place it 3rd in the franchise following X2 and DoFP in my ranking of favorites.

Use the right vernacular, epic implies something of Endgame, Infinity War, Deathly Hallows Pt2 etc. This is a more intimate film in terms of it being centered around the core relationships to Jean and her journey.

Based on your posts in every thread that exclaim “LAME” and things like it, you don’t care about if it’s good or not, so you don’t really care about my answer, do you?

Welcome to forums, this could have been had in PMs rather than threads since it’s singularly addressed to me rather than open discussion.

u sound cold and mean for some reason.
dude all im saying is u dont sound optimistic about the movie. no need to overthink.
i simply asked u whether u found the movie and instead i get this gibberish of a convoluted post.
like what are you even trying to say?
did u like the film or not?
holy, u would rate this below X2? ok its a flop then.

Lol it’s a flop if I placed it below X2, did you pick 6 words out of my response (which is pretty clearly structured and grammatically correct) and just go with that? X2 and DoFP are clearly stated as my top 2, Dark Phoenix has a great shot at being right below that. So 3rd/4th out of how many main x-men films? Google that answer, and maybe learn some basic grammar if you can’t understand my post? I’m only cold when you clearly aren’t interested and just want to troll as you’ve been doing across several threads.

  • When a movie is delayed for two years you should expect it to be garbage, so definitely not going to be a huge success.
  • It won't be released too long after the hype for Avengers Endgame, which is such a high grossing event it easily eclipses SHAZAM that was released three weeks earlier.
  • The announced reshoots to change of the climax battle from space to a train.
  • Simon Kinberg is at the helm, and he doesn't have the best record as a filmmaker.
Does this clarify why this movie won't be epic? And why it won't be a critical success?

It was delayed to give it a proper third act and finish additional special effects, not because the film was garbage.
And the original third act took place in space JUST AS MUCH as the new third act does - there is (SPOILER) one fairly short scene in space in both third acts when Jean sacrifices herself. Like, holy ****, just because someone said something on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true.

By delayed to "give it a proper third act" do you mean "give it a good third act that screen tests better?"

Epic:
1: a long narrative poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero the Iliad and the Odyssey are epics
2: a work of art (such as a novel or drama) that resembles or suggests an epic
3: a series of events or body of legend or tradition thought to form the proper subject of an epic

The Dark Phoenix saga in the comics could be considered epic. Not sure the movie can be because it would lack the build up time necessary to be considered such. Sort of like I think Troy is a really enjoyable movie, but it is not an epic in the way The Iliad is.

When referring to “epic movies”, the implication is something different than this film is and it hasn’t been marketing itself as an “epic”.

Good movie is good enough for me.
That is what I hoped for.
Thanks for that.

And get more characters in since otherwise it was a liiiitle empty.

They had to reshoot chunks of the movie and Kinberg had to rewrite the 3rd act after screening it. Reshoots were 40+ days. Word from INSIDE THE STUDIO was that the movie (pre-reshoots) was a “cataclysmic disaster."

That bad score had NOTHING to do with wrapping the franchise up with a nice little bow. You really think the screeners sat there thinking: "This movie's good but I wish they wrapped the franchise up better?"

So...

To answer spider-Aziz’ question (one that he didn’t even ask lol) it wasn’t “garbage.” More like a “cataclysmic disaster.”

Why is it so hard for you to give a normal response? We dont want the details, just whether you liked the film or not. Was it good or bad.

Based on your confused complicated raltionale of the screening you got to view,
Im guessing you hated the movie OR you’re just really really confused or unintereated in dark phoenix

You dont sound enthusiastic about the movie. I guess the test screening reports are right then, movie is going to be bad

Obvious trolling is obvious.

Those test screening reviews were already deemed to be fake, which has been refuted time and again. At this point you have already made up your mind and will believe what you have already made up in your head. The movie can be received well critically and you will still find a way to call it a disaster.

It will be epic. Of course. The near piercing of magneto’s eye by his bending helmet point was of such sheer tension that not even the finest sabers could cut through the beauty of this moment. Kinberg really is becoming a master with a unique visual style that he cultivates and crafts and refines on a daily basis. This has done so much for the film’s awareness. Now that Endgame fatigue has set in, people want the X-men now, especially a Kinbergian style X-men

You’re assuming the test screening I’m talking about is the same one you’re thinking of. And you’d be wrong.
