A lot of fans do care. They shouldn't recast until they reboot.
Personally, I want Ellen Page and Anna Paquin back.
Within the context of this series, yes they are the b-listers. If the series were to "evolve" beyond the 2023 "present day" setting then the likes of Paquin, Page, and Ashmore would be headlining. Correct? Or is the whole gang returning? No matter how unrealistic/delusional that is? And the new cast has an X-Men team now. The end of Apocalypse set that up quite clearly. Plenty of time to work with them. And for the record, Gambit and Rouge are my favorite X-Men. But I'm not ever going to let that distort my views on this film series. You need to have some realistic expectations. I don't care if those characters are not in the past. As long as a solid X-Men team is then it's all good. A present day cast is not going to work for a laundry list of reasons. only other option is reboot.
You care more about the new cast than the characters themselves. And you don't see how they are limiting the X-Men with what they can do, which characters to use, that there is more room for continuity errors every time they set it up in the past and obviously you are ignoring the box office history of this franchise.
If fox cared about continuity errors Nightcrawler would not show up before X2 among other things
Not Fox, but Singer. The genre has evolved since X2. Singer hasn't. How many great mutant characters have been wasted in his films? So much wasted potential.
The X franchise needs a breath of fresh air. Someone with a different style and new ideas.
X2 along with X-Men and last stand have been erased from timeline.they were free to use him in apocalypse.

Even with Singer now gone for the moment, you still have Kinberg greatly involved and possibly writing the next main series X-Men film
Another reason I have no interest in the main X-Men movies until FOX reboots & fires Kinberg since if they kept him its not a reboot at all. He must be a really cheap writer since they like keeping him around
Honestly it doesn't matter if kinberg is writing because it depends on the director they get and what changes are made because of that.
But at the same time something has to be remembered and thats singer leaving isn't a sign of that someone is gonna come onboard to abandon what he set up because they feel they know better or something, no if you look at what both ratner and vaughn did they both added their own tonal direction but overall stay very respectful to what singer did whether it was the good or the bad or whether it was done well or not done well, it was all still there.
No, I did not say Paquin, Page and Ashmore should headline, beyond the 2023 period as I still included Marsden, Berry, Jannsen,Grammer and whoever is playing Colossus. All of them should co headline.
There is always the possibility. But I doubt it in this case. Are you the one who is deluding things here? Yes.
The more the merrierI also wanted Channing to join the cast and that should solve your problem of lacking of big stars.
100% yes they could. If they're apart of a good movie then they could make it a success comparable to previous installments within the franchise. We're talking about young stars who are on the rise compared to stars who's careers have plateaued/descended.And even if those 3 headline a X-Men film? So what? Like as if X-Men could headline a movie with Sheridan, Turner, McPhee and Shippand could make it as successful as the other bigger X-Men movies. Right?
Well there's your difference. While Nightcrawler was a notable standout in arguably the best film in this series. And in the context of the series, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Storm are as B listers as Rogue, Iceman, Kitty. Storm was somewhat popular because of oh Halle Berry., while James was popular as Cyclops.
The 2nd stringers from the OT. Hands down. In Apocalypse, they were supporting characters, that's true. That was just their introduction though. If the next film rolls around and they are still playing second fiddle to the likes of Magneto/Mystique you'd have me dead to rights. But those two were never given much importance compare to Wolverine, Mystique, Xavier,Jean and Magneto. In Apocalypse, they were still supporting characters, the other one was a silent henchman. So who are you calling b listers now?
I'm just realistic about the state of things. You don't go BACKWARDS to a cast you ditched. An aging cast that relied far too heavily on Jackman, the guy that's leaving the franchise. I can wait to see Rogue. It sucks, but I can wait. And they have a clean slate to work with almost. Only thing they have to adhere to is DOFP ending. That's a pretty big sand box of time and characters that they have to play with. You have a solid young team to work with. You build and develop them over time. You care more about the new cast than the characters themselves. And you don't see how they are limiting the X-Men with what they can do, which characters to use, that there is more room for continuity errors every time they set it up in the past
That's just what it is. History. Things change. A good couple movies and #s will undoubtedly trend back up.and obviously you are ignoring the box office history of this franchise.
I wanna see some new characters blend with some of the original cast. Imagine, for example, bringing in all of Magneto's children (Polaris, SW, QS)? They could really work well in a Genosha or Asteroid M film.
They've got Evan Peters as Quicksilver (pretty popular character)
In Apocalypse, they were supporting characters, that's true. That was just their introduction though. If the next film rolls around and they are still playing second fiddle to the likes of Magneto/Mystique you'd have me dead to rights.
I don't see Vaughn staying very respectful to what Singer established tbh. He retired his black leather. Most of the backstory mentioned in X1 is retconned. But Singer was behind most of these decisions so... he disrespected himself I guess.
I'd like to think its because the contracts of those three have expired, but yeah, that quote was dissapointing.Remember the Hollywood Reporter article? That said: "Singer, who directed four X-Men movies, will not be returning, according to insiders, but the script is being written with Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy optimistically in mind."
No mention of the other characters. Makes it sound like more of that second fiddle for Jean, Storm, Scott, Nightcrawler, Jubilee. Whoopee. Let's get this party started.
